There goes the head faculty… except Faye. And it looks like it took less than five seconds. Now with so many fighters and mages around, can the assassins escape unfollowed, or does the hunt start right now?
These are not ordinary assassins. Look to the red lines surrounding their teleporting in ? Similar to the Bluestrem lines, but red. In other world, Redstream line. We’re dealing with Bhaal’s red mages here.
I expected something like that to happen but not to be that successful… :/
Left guy, panel three: “Man, I’m glad I brought my blue Party Cloak here.”
Left guy, panel six: “Oh god, assassins! Good thing I’ve got my purple Running The Hell Away Cloak!”
@ Geary:
When red (the red stream lines) mixes with blue (his robe), the result is purple.
Wait, is this really happening or is it a vision?
what do you think? actual asassination or is it a vision?
@ ASP:
lol, you fiend, beat me by 10 seconds…
Well, look at it this way – now we know for sure that Lilith’s better than Hel!

I CALLED IT!
*hides*
Beautiful as always! Though should she perhaps have said, “compete with Hel”, rather than “cope”? As it stands, I found the wording confusing.
I’m with ASP and Pyro… wondering if it’s real. But my guess is that this IS real… Stuff’s about to get heavy.
And that is why it does not pay to be a squishy mage. Further, if you’re important enough that people want you dead, ALWAYS wear armor. Though, from the looks of that dagger, I doubt it’d have done the old guy any good.
I had the exact same thought!@ Jamey Sharp:
Well this just reminded me of neverwinter nights
i never thought to see the day there are mage rogues will appear T-T

Well I know daggers are probably enchanted but that can probably be remedied to… In Hel´s case the place of the hit is not lethal. There is no important organ where assasin has struck.
And well if someome teleports it is usualy pain in the… to follow him. Portals are easier but they are not likely to use those.
I don’t think the placement of the stab matters that much, when we know that the Redstream spell repertoire contains all sorts of necromantic spells.
I am pretty certain whatever that dagger carries (or the teleporting assassin casts through it) is going to be potent enough to really slam an Archmage, I doubt they’d reveal their existence like that without packing insurance that when they strike, they take their targets down.
And I got to agree, reminds me of Neverwinter Nights, both the original campaign and both expansions start with teleporting baddies.
Hmm, makes me wonder if this world has an equivalent for something I’d like in playing this kind of game. Combination of monk and sorcerer…
Gives a completely new dynamic for punching and kicking when you can channel elemental forces into those.
Chandler’s Law of Teleportation!
A stab in that location is actually quite lethal. The question is, is Lilith loosing it or did assassins attack?
@ TLein:
even then spell is much easier to stop if it spreads from part of the body that you do not necesarily need to save and is relatively easy to regrow.
consider it like a poison that spreads… you can either have remedy or you have to sever a limb if you do not. You can´t sever hearth or head. But muscles can be sacrificed.
@ ASP:
I was thinking delusion myself, not unlike what she experienced a mere hour before, but I can see it as a vision.

It is too low for a kidney and to off for liver. And direction of the dagger does not point inside to any vital organ. At best some intestine damage. Nothing that a decent healer can not patch almost instantly… using magic that is. Even 1900s surgeon would fix that. quite easily.
It would be fatal if left untreated… but well… most stab injuries are.
enchantment on dagger will be the greatest issue here.
But well that is one thing I never got about Dumbledore in Harry Potter- his hand was useless and dead with no way to revive it. And the curse was contained in it… getting rid of the hand would solve the problem.
I wonder, what is actually the motivation for red mages. On one hand, according to world background the Bhaal is nothingness, that means for me, that if the Bhaal would be free, the world would be consumed and there will be again nothing.
Either, the red mages don’t want to free Bhaal if they are smart, or they are insane and don’t like the world at all, or they aren’t free and it is more Bhaal’s will in them then their own.
Now tell me, which one, or all of them? I don’t get this fight for power sometimes. What is it, the red mages will have at the end? Death?
Other question, could it be the stuff that Lilith has, has the ‘Tear of Gaia’? If it is currently split, than there will be a quest to make it one crystal again, probably… And, there should be one in this academy.
@ Plazma:
OR, the Restream could have its own influence over its users. Meaning a normal, peaceloving blue mage starting to study the Readstream no matter the reason can end up as a void and chaos whorshipping red mage, don’t you think ?
@ Chronos:
The earlier vision was a special panel, different from all others. These ones are not, i doubt it’s a vision of any sort. It’s most likely the real thing.
Gah i’m torn between two reactions! My first was OH SHI*
My second was “See? No one ever expects the spanish inquisition.”

Power?
Do not think just because a world gets destroyed everything will seize to exist. Nope, existence will simply change to some different form. If you want to live you have to either prevent the change or keep up with it.
Again I will borrow example from Dragonrealm… Vraads have by their use of magic brought their world to point where it could not support Vraad (for that matter “human”) life. It decayed to utter destructive chaos of energies. those few Vraads that didn´t leave were twisted with the world. They did not die, they simply chaged to reflect it´s nature.
(On the other hand Cabe Bedlam once speculated if their “survival” in twisted always changing form was possible for any other (less arrogant) race. Vraads were simply to arrogant to accept even death. That always had to be forced on them…)
Ha! Finally this party isn’t boring! SWORD FIGHT
@ belmontzar:
Mwarf, these are rogue assassins cloacks, traditional clothing in medieval universes. Nothing to do with spanish inquisition… xD
@ belmontzar:
Pure genius I say.
Come on bluestream! Quit futzing out on us!
Before when it was a vision, the color was light, and the image was somewhat distorted. But now, the image is remaining the same. Friends, I think this is a totally real invasion, a coup in progress.
@ Geary:
Mood cloak? XD
SNEAK ATTACK CRITICAL 4.0X DAMAGE
Alright Lilith. Now’s your chance. You can either stand there mortified as your mentor is assassinated like an ineffectual dolt, or zap that motherfucker so hard with magic he won’t know up from down for a week. Don’t let me down! Kill the assassin! KILL
Well crapola. As for the lethality of the assassin’s strike, give the old man 20 mins and the intestinal infection will kill him.
Hmm, stabbed him up under the ribs to get at his right lung, I dont think he’s gonna make it longer than a fight and some dramatic last words that send our heroes on a harrowing adventure to repair the bluestream…..or it’s all a dream, either way is coo
@ belmontzar:
as for the spanish inquisition…
HA HA HA HA HA HA AH-HAHAHAHAHAHA
as for the page…
oh dearie me.
I’m sure that is the precise wording of what everyone else thought ;P
WOW the assassins make some pretty epic entering scene.
Really pro !

Ok, who did the black sacrament, I want names people.. no one summons the dark brotherhood and gets away with it O.o
>.>
@ FShounen:
Given that blue generally represents sadness, boredom, or regret, while purple represents love and affection, the cloak is either busted or he likes what he sees.
I’m calling it, Future Ryn killed the Archmage to stop whatever path sends Lilith to the darkside… I mean Redstream…
In another topic, the dagger is not just a dagger, notice the eldritch-abomination-like light tendrils that radiate from the dagger?
@ Ziggrrauglurr:
That’s why, when we were stating that this stab is nowhere near fatal unless left untreated, someone mentioned that the enchantment on the blade might be an issue.
I was listening to that speech! Blasted lot of rouges they is, let her speak blast ye!
@ AmbiValent:
i bet all hell breaks loose in the next comic or the 1 after. but that would allow for a quick and easy ending. it will most likely not happen that way.
@Novil, Question? Will you be updating the setting and glossary pages with more extended info on Gaia’s world?
WOW! Mood whiplash!! O.O
…I like it! ^^
@ Paeris Kiran:
No imporant organ? Last I ckecked, the intestines are pretty important. The liver (can’t tell if it’s that high or that right) is even more important. And don’t forget the comman illiac artery and its complimentary vein both run through that region. That, and the knife is obviously enchanted, as we can see orange lines forming around the wound. Not to mention there’s nothing stopping him from stabbing the old man again.
@ Paeris Kiran:
The kidneys are lower and the liver is far on the right. But organs aren’t the only important thing. There is a MASSIVE blood vessel right there. Magic dagger or no, he’s probably screwed.
