Oh well… that is price for putting a too much faith into one´s shield.
It is much better making sure that one does not get hit… then there is no need to test wheather shield will withstand hits…
In the other hand… those hits may not be lethal to imp… his eyes still seem quite full of fire…
So far, the assassins took down most of the faculty, and everyone who tried a counterattack. I just hope someone can counter them long enough for the rest of the students to join in.
Well so much for fighting back. Honestly, if he can be taken out that easily it is obvious that these red mage assassins are incredibility well trained and organised to the point to barring some sort of miracle the students don’t have a chance. Simply put the main characters need to retreat.
@ monstersoul:
Funny, yes. Young…actually unlikely. Since he is an imp and not a human being, and a magical one at that, he is probably over fifty years old, certainly older than thirty.
@ giraffi:
Although I have played Windwaker, and I absolutely LOVED the ritos (I REALLY want them to be brought back as a recurring race for the rest of the series), I did not think of them. I just thought of how the bowman just HAPPENED to wear a bird mask, considering how bowmen and hunters are sometimes symbolized by birds
I take back what I said in the previous comic. You’d think Ars would have been smarter than that, especially since he was the proctor for the magic part of the exam. But yeah, he’s dead, but he died protecting the students, and he did so with a fire in his eyes. You can tell he’s dead because his eyes went blank in the fifth panel and had gone from red to white in the last one, he was struck in the chest twice so at least one of his vital organs had to be hit, likely his heart or lungs, and there is blood coming out of his mouth in the last panel as well, although it’s a bit hard to see. On another note, considering the large variety of weapons (bows, swords, magic, knives) combined with the masks that these assassins are using, and because this is likely a HUGE cliche that is nothing new to this type of story, how much ya wanna bet these guys are a member of some sort of super-secret but world-threatening cult? Maybe with a name like The Dark Brotherhood or something?
@ Paeris Kiran:
If only, if only! Alas, his pupils have gone from red to white – I fear the worst. =(
On a different note, did anyone else immediately think of those bird-people from Wind Waker (or Mordecai from Borderlands)?
Depends on the light (Uah that reminded me of Jack Sparrow´s father and “does this face look like it was to the fountain of youth?”) I wonder what your expression would be after beeing hit with assasins arrow (this type of tips are designed to be hard to take out.) they kill mostly by bloodloss…
plus Ars´es mane could have dampened some of the kinetic energy(lot of fibres)… provided that redstream energies were focused on piercing shield and Ars scales did the job…
Oh come on, am I the only one who saw this coming? It’s a classic build up and drop of hope where they tAke a loved character, try to make it seem like they’ll make a difference, and almost immediately kill them to show how hopeless the situation is. While I’m sad he’s gone, I am indeed enjoying this C:
For those who think Ars may make it since he still has some eyes in last panel, unfortunatly they are emotionless there, sign of unconciousness if not worse. And add to it that we can see blood flow out of his beak in last panel and the blood out of both his beak and his chest in main middle panel, i think is entirely done for. So much for the last mage among the tutors we know of.
Sudden swerve from light fantasy to dark, which in my mind is not where this series has its niche. I’ll keep at eye on it a bit longer, but may not continue reading.
Ahem! Mages, revival spells! Right…..right? Ars? ARS? AAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRS!?!?! Ilias, MURDER THESE MONSTERS WHO KILLED ARS! LILITH, LET GO OF THE BLUESTREAM! GO CRAZY AND KILL THESE MURDERERS!
You motherfuckers. Look! That guy is defending children, shoot him first! The hell is wrong with these assassins?! Stabbing a bunch of faceless characters is fine but Ars? ARS?
I want all of them dead! Right now! And there shouldn’t be enough for a funeral!
Arrrrs! Why Ars? We were going to be pirates! It would’ve been perfect!
So I walked away for a bit and came back and I’m still pissed at these guys for killing Ars and defenseless students.
I’m sure they’ll have some reason that makes them believe they’re the good guys, but screw it! I don’t care anymore! They could’ve killed Ars to stop the murder of an orphanage later in the timeline and I’d still be pissed at them! Everything around me looks like a weapon I could use to kill them! ARS
of all the characters to get shot by an arrow. it had to be my favorite one.
i seriously hope some healing mage comes by and helps Ars. i REALLY don’t want him to die.
O.O ARS!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

The irony is that earlier, Ars learnt all about how to break through protective spells…

Oh My God.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
he was so young and funny :’(
Oh come on, everyone’s dying O.o
I thought you’d at least save Ars, he looked awesome
@ Zack the Kajillionth: I fear the worst too–he spits up blood at impact (panel 4) and his eyes roll back as he falls (panel 5). (O_O)
So far, the assassins took down most of the faculty, and everyone who tried a counterattack. I just hope someone can counter them long enough for the rest of the students to join in.
I was right! =O
But I actually hoped I was wrong… =(
@ Zack the Kajillionth:
yes, those bird people on the island with the dragon. my thoughts exactly
Panel 2: blood, coloring error, or proof that the girl is with Bhaal?
Well so much for fighting back. Honestly, if he can be taken out that easily it is obvious that these red mage assassins are incredibility well trained and organised to the point to barring some sort of miracle the students don’t have a chance. Simply put the main characters need to retreat.

ARS! NO! YOU’RE MY FAVORITE!!!!!
@ AmbiValent:
With who? I don’t think anybody knows who Bhaal is.
@ X and Y Shipper:
Who says they were red mages? Maybe they were just assassins with a little magical ability.

@ 00m:
Dang… 00m called it.
I’m guessing either the artist’s German descent is slipping into the comic, or this is a training simulation. Most likely the former.
@ AmbiValent:
Probably an error
Well, Ars died protecting two random background characters.
What a major letdown for everyone. )=
@ illeatyourself:
Check out the “Setting” link at the top of the page. It offers some background.
The thing that I thought to myself as those arrows pierced the dome “Wasn’t an anti-red spell mentioned earlier during magic training?” Poor Ars.
Whatever happened to that medallion around his neck?
Kind of an attempt to get the mind away from what just happened.
EVERYBODY IS DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEING!!!!!!!!!!! WHATS GOING ON?!?!?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O___O
No! Ars can’t die! He’s too cool a character to die!
NOOOOOO Not the gargoyle who’s name I can’t remember! HE WAS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER, GODDAMNIT!
No really. I loved that guy.
@ Gamefreak506:
The medallion was for the exams, so the faculty could watch. They would have taken it away afterward.
Ok, so what’s next? Everything turned out to be Lilith’s vision of immediate future, like in Final Destination?
I’ll kill myself if I get it right again. =P
Ok, that;s definitely NOT a vision and…that’s one hell of a sh*tstorm!
Seeing this made me very angry for some reason.

Everyone may be dying, but that just means more room for our main characters when they re-enter the spotlight.
Okay, Lili, time to fling ground shaking, heavens breaking spells.
Like, NOW!
*taps foot* Any day now…
I must inquire whether this an appropriate moment to utter the phrase “Shit just got real”?
(The people who were killed until now seemed to be unknown people or people that we haven’t seen much before/haven’t had much character development.)
I really hope this is just a vision and not reality… Not with Ars dying.

At least it is safe to assume the journey into the void begins with righteous revenge, rather than becoming decidedly corrupted.
Just don’t stare too long =P
Keep it up!

Sorry, but what does letting Ars die has to to with being german????
