Meh, upgraded fireball spell.
+2 to damage and +1 to radius.
Nothing fancy.
.
…
….
FREAKING AWESOME!
Just read the “Setting” section – so Bhaal’s got a sort of hell-equivalent in the inside of the planet – maybe our adventure continues there? With Lilith & co.?
And Ars?!
*crosses fingers*
Look carefully to that fire spell. It’s a dragon-like fire attack. If they wanted to kill her, they would have had no need for that (arrows like those used on Ars would be enough). BUT if as i said in previous page they want to capture her, the bite can both incapacitate her and carry her.
Additionally, in last panels, they all disapear. That’s another sign she simply got captured.
They TOOK her. Oohhh man… It’s ON!! If I were Ilias (Or Sandril or Alissa, for that matter), I’d set out on a quest to bring an unequivocal and permanent end to anyone involved in that attack.
‘s a dwagonball!
@ Curiousity:
Now THAT was perfect!
Lili survived, that’s for sure. Can’t doubt it, as if you did, you’d obviously be horribly wrong. On another note, how much ya wanna bet that thief from much earlier, like near the beginning of the series, is somehow involved in this group but doesn’t know everything about what they are doing, their intentions, etc.?
Ilias has a good heart ( or soul?) towards gaia, also he really and honestly cares about Lilith, or has he got even more hidden feelings for her ?……
I know it is far fetched…
Lilith feels these feelings through her talented teleotactile (ie. telepathy), and becomes some really scary Gaia, Avatar and “Blue Stream” influencend Lilith, which retaliates against Bhaal “Red Stream” buddies…
?
“SILENT WALL BLOCK!” would have been useful right about now….(Where is Saturn when you need her?).
Seriously, given the close proximity of the attack, Lili would have to react instinctively…..which she proved she COULD do when she blew up Ars’ lab, but there is a difference between a lab experiment gone haywire (which she DID expect, even though she didnt quite expect the violence of it), and a sudden attack from a foe that was quite bold enough to take out most all the faculty and many of her fellow students….
And as a late observation, i noted several posts about the surprise nature of the attack. Surprise attacks are not the province of ‘the bad guys’….everyone, even the so-called ‘good guys’ have a few such plans their arsenals for use….and if i wanted to take out an enemy, i am not likely to send a message such as “Excuse us for asking, but would it be possible for our magical guerrillas to attack your School,of Magic during their graduation ceremonies on Sunday this coming week? We would have made ii Monday, at lunchtime, but our commanders had a tee time for an inter-dimensional golf scramble they had to make…..diplomatic thing, you know… Thanks for your consideration of our request. Sincerely yours, Baahl, Your Terribleness and Lord of All I Survey,
that looks like it would have been a good time for the ol’ reflexive shield, I mean, come on, she stands there doing nothing? that’s hardly the archmage we all know and love.
@ Dark Zombie:
Telepathy is being able to send thoughts. Tele + Pathos = Far + Feelings
Teleotactile is being able to touch remotely Tele + Tactus = Far + To Touch
They aren’t the same thing. Teleotactile was how Lili futzed with Ilias’ hair. Lili hasn’t developed telepathy yet.
It appears that the glowing ball and the fire are separate spells.
Well I think this can qualify as the WORST PROM EVER.

Ahhh!! I love it so much!!
Ok, I guess Lilith couldn
#t feel the spell coming before because it doesn’t use bluestream, but redsteeam or what ever? Because we know that she knew what would happen when ars wanted to cast a spell even before he did ANYTHING so if they used “normal” magic, meaning the bluestream, she couldn’t hqave been that surprised right?
Just an observation ^^
Also I wonder whether the bluestream magic just isn’t that effective againstthis redstream magic. After all the simply broke Ars’ shield with what looked like a minor spell on some arrows. So I guess even if Lilith was not frozen in fear and had reacted it wouldn’t have done her any< good. Also I understand and think its logicaL she didn't react. It's not like that is a normal situation and she definatly is not a fightertype. It not prepared and suddenly seeing what happens and such an enemy I wouldn't be able to do anything either ^^*
So I guess now the story start's
I'm interested how it will go on.
*Looks at DBZ’s dragon punch and looks at this* This is the dragon punch just in a blast form.
Absolutely loving the flame dragon & the way it’s rendered. That is some Awesome power!
@ Pyro:
ur forgetting that she hasnt seen real combat. all she’s been doing is fighting golems in the tests. even then she was on a supportive role. let me hurl a fireball at you and see how you react.
Bao… ZAKERUGAAAAA!!!
…I’m sorry.
MYSTERIOUS MAN used POKéBALL!
looks like a capture to me. Why else would that ball be there?
@ maravilla:
i also wonder that, and if the red and blue can mix together to make a purple. THAT WOULD BE THE COOLEST! : D
From now on as we are close to going on an epic journey with Illias & Co., I’d like to point out the lack of map whatsoever. It would be nice to have a map of Gaia for reference. Anyone agrees?

Oh shit.
Ho-ly sheeeet. o.o

Don’t think so. Notice how when the vanish happens in the bottom panel, there’s still a Lili-shaped silhouette inside the explosion. If they warped her with them, there would either be
A- No shadow at all (as she simply wouldn’t be there)
B- A larger shadow to represent another person physically grabbing her
And in both cases there would be the red swirls for the port spell happening. The only red you see there is from the lightning.
Whoops, looks like Novil beat me to it. Cheerie oh.
Now THAT’S a Firaga spell.
Novil wrote:
Oh… Oh no… no no no…
Okay. Forget a mission of justice to bring an end to the attackers. I’d set out on a mission to make the attackers wish they’d Never. Been. Born.
that was a sweet sequence of events. It has got me hooked for more.
anyone hoping that she casted some sort of armor shield and she will emerge from the fire breaking havoc?
but that doesnt explain why the caster left…. maybe the fire show was just a distruction and the real point of the attack was to implant an “evil seed” in her soul that would gradually grow and turn her into darkness.. why try to control the body when you can control the mind?
@ Novil:
So it was Bao Zakeruga. Dang, poor Ilias.
Ilias you worthless prick. If you really loved her you wouldn’t have blacked out when she needed you most. That’s just obvious.
End Act I, I suppose. Then he wakes up, or gets woken up, and forms a party with his friend(because their pals and he can’t let him go alone) and his rival(because he also loves Lilith). Can’t figure out who their mage would be(Lilith’s friend? What’s her name…) to find Lilith before she is sacrificed to Baal by child-murdering fucks.
Then again, with the way this story is going so far, none of those predictions will probably pan out. I tried.
I wonder why everyone is so sure she´ll survive somehow. So far the story didn´t build around her or the others as much, they we´re just the people Ilias spent his time with.
The story might continue as well with ilias search for answers to this attack.
Well I’ve heard of burning down the house but this is ruination around the level of one Lina.
@ Bubblefish:
shes is one the cover she kinda important
@ Crestlinger:
Lmao!!! One Lina!?!?! though i have to admit that seeing Ilias pull a point on the Gowry scale would be entertaining and fit in a limited way….. it’s definitly a reference that I haven’t heard in some time. Ahhh, the Dragon Slaves….. though if she pulls a Ragna Blade out of nowhere I’m seriously gonna $#!* a Zelgadis, no other options at that point
garbud wrote:
Important, yes… But Ilias is the main character (per the “Cast” tab). It may be that she dies here, and this is a moment of great importance to Ilias that brings him pain and resolve. I dunno. I hope she lives, but after what Novil pointed out… I’m not so sure she will
Lili’s character bio on the “Cast” page says this:
I… I think this is going to be a very sad moment in the story.
We´ll see in a few weeks I believe.
However I still wonder what sort of school the ancademy really is. From what I read i thought they were some sort of military/special forces institute where everyone is trained in multiple weapuns/magic forms. For such a school one would expect that in the face of danger the majority of people would react quickly an be totally used to their comrades dieing in combat around, as to not let that stop them from acting (or at least doing an orderly retreat).
But I may be mistaken an the school is more like a prestigous club with honor and duels and so on and not much to do with “real combat”.
@ Bubblefish:
I think that one might perhaps think of it similar to West Point or Annapolis, which (if anyone on this board is unfamiliar) are two prestigious military academies in the United States. These young men and women are accepted only if they prove themselves to be exceptional, and they graduate only after rigorous training. Now, imagine these young officers are attacked at their celebratory ball by a rogue paramilitary group composed of hardened killers with advanced training…
The entire attack displayed in these last few pages may have lasted only a few minutes. Many of the graduates had been drinking. They were all eager to hear what the star student had to say. Then BAM. It was a stealthy insertion, tactical strike. None of these young, inexperienced mages and warriors had any time to prepare themselves or mount a defense. Ilias and Ars apparently kept their wits about them, but were met with skilled, prepared opposition. Ilias lost consciousness, and lost his life. In the spot-light, and struck with fear at what was going on around here, it looks like Lily was either gravely wounded or killed as well.
I’m gonna give these kids the benefit of the doubt. They’ve undergone plenty of advanced training, but in the end, well, “War is hell.”
@ Matthew G.
That’s meant to say “And Ars lost his life.”
MY PURPLE MAGE IDEA!!! NOOOOOO!!!
I am not sure about Lilys death. The red orb in front of the fireball could be a two way teleportation spell. So even if they find a burned corpse, it could be some other poor girl they exchanged.
A floating mage that directly aims a special spell at her and vanishes again directly after that? Very suspicious.
