- Theres Oter: I didn’t see her, but I don’t think she’s injured.

SHE IS ALIVE AND UN HARMED?!
also…FIRST!
I think that they used such a powerful spell because they thought that she would have stopped anything else once they lost the element of surprise. Unfortunately for them, she was powerful to stop even dragon-fire-ball-thing.
That or there was some other reason for using that spell.
Uh, oh……..Is that a look of deep concern coming from Alissa? Dose she have feelings for Ilias like he has for Lili? Are we going to have a sort of love triangle happening??????????
Nice to see how our brave young knight is the only one still lying in the hospital bed xD Also, I like the illusion gadget, but I miss the old “get well soon”balloons in the room..
I… just have no memory for names.

I think bad-guys like overkill. =)
Hm… now I suspect an imposter. Probably just my paranoia talking.
Ryn is looking a bit saddened right there, unlike the others. I also find myself wondering why they didn’t stay like friends do in pretty much every other comic out there. And why that rival of his is in the picture, and even smiling, if they practically hate each other. Eh, whatever.
@ BlueDragon_Z:
It’s not overkill if it works without causing other problems!
She survived megaflare.. This girl got some mad skills
WHAT!?! I mean, I’m really glad that such a great character is still alive… but the question is now, is she alright? She shoulda been vaporized… Color me confused! But glad

I hope not… I had thought that too, but we do know that Lili is fond of making holograms. Would an impostor have thought of that? And would the impostor be able to fool the others?
Wait, how DID she survive that!?
I honestly thought they this was going to be the start of his quest; they tell him she was dead, he keeps getting visions and goes out looking for her. This can only mean the Knorzer’s are setting us up for something else… scary.

I’m reading the smile more as a “Ha ha, you’re still injured and I’m not” smile than an “I hope you get better soon” smile.
…Alive and unharmed? Aliens.
I am surprised she is unharmed. I am more surprised that Ilias wasn’t killed where he lay. Or just back-stabbed in general, like everyone else was. Considering they damn well killed almost everyone, it is very odd he was the only one that was just KO’d.
I am cranking out all sorts of theories, but I don’t want to declare anything till more information becomes available.
@ BlueDragon_Z:
when didnt bad guys didnt like to overkill crap? -_-
Sandril seems more like a Kevin Leven kind of character to Ilias’ Ben Tennyson. Ilias WANTS to hate him and stereotype him as one of those ‘Gaston’ kind of brutes but can’t, because he isn’t. Lilith isn’t stupid by any means (at least academic wise) so we can assume she sees something in him.
Also… how come no one else is guessing she’s possessed or tainted or something? She DID just vanish after the spell ate her, which we would assume took her somewhere.
I might bet on possessed. But not by the Bad Guys.
I’d put my money up for her being Gaia’s Chosen. Just don’t want to think of the amount of Bluestream she might have had to burn there.
Surprisingly cheery lot for people who have just seen a major assault by the Resurgent Evil Army that laid waste to much of the upper echelon of the Academy.
Also, why didn’t they stay? It’s been more than a day after the attack, you know. The guys must be busy prepping the defenses in case there’s anything further coming. Would YOU want your friends to hang on your sickbed if your home town had just suffered from a surprise attack, or would you prefer them to be doing their duty at patrolling and helping fix what was damaged in the attack?
@ Zeldaman:
Well she definitely did not put up any kind of shield so only idea I have would be a phase shift…
Slighltly shifting oneself out of physical realm evading anything that happens in it.
Certain drawback of this aproach is that you effectively can not strike back as nearly every attack you make will be in different phase than attacker. And it is not completly attack prof. Some space and time spells which do not have matter is target can reach you anyway.
And dabling with space and time in general is not advisable when you do not know perfectly what you are doing since it is more likely to backfire on you than actualy succed.
Ok,
1. WTF? Lili is still there???
2. Some of you claim she vanished after this firebsall thingy spell was cast on her, but that isn’t true. You can still see her siloutte in the flamed if yiu look closely, so she definitly was hit by tht spell, no sign of going away of shield or what ever. So I really wonder how she survived thatr so easily OoI would guess even a great mage like her would die after being hit by this combination of spells….
I also wonder why she didn’s sense te spells coming, as she did with Ars in the test… how could she have been so surprised? Now it’s obvious that the used normal magic, so bluestream as well….
3. About What’s.his.-face Rival of Ilias beeing on the Hologram, He doesn’t smile, I think he didn’t want to be in the hologram but Lily forced him. Since she is his girlsfriend he practically had to join whether he wanted or not.
Also we know he belongs tothe good ones, lates after the festival where they all laughed together and also shered Lilly vision. So I guess he had to be there too ^^*
4. About hypothesis about Lily, I think’k it’s neither an imposter, not is she controlled. I guess it’s really lily. I would go for the “chosen one” assumptiuon and that she was miracoulisly unwounded and no one knows why or how, luily included. WOuldn’t be surprised if she lost her memory concerning this.
not to sound paranoid, but his is sister is waaaaaay to happy. i mean her brother has been unconscious for how long?
We’ve gone from Harry Potter to Star Wars!
I be he feels like a wimp now, she got hit with… That, and survived unharmed and he got bumped on the head and suddenly he is out cold…
“Look, what Lili made for you!”
Was anyone else bothered by that sentence structure?
Incredible! Reminds me of the daft punk discovery alien gps/hologram/skeleton key/deflector.
He did get knocked in the head where the human “reset” button is. Didn’t think he’d be out like that. Then again, this isn’t Earth. Very gripping setup. Thank you guys for that.
You know, she’s a powerful magician… I’m voting for a true teleport spell.
@ offroadguy56: You know, if one of my borthers was in a coma for days, and suddenly woke up, I would be just as happy as her, or even more. In fact, she’s showing a fair amount of restrain, I would have been expecting a really big (and painfull for poor Ilias) hug XD
Lilith and all the mages couldn’t detect the hostile magic because they’re all trained to use the Bluestream. We’ve all come to the conclusion from all the red sparkles that the assassins were using the Redstream. And while spells can be constructed no matter the energy source (As Ilias demonstrates by recognizing both spell hurled at Lilith, despite the energy difference), the actual energy source seems to be much harder to detect, if it’s detectable at all. Seeing as the Bluestream is “everything,” it makes sense that trying to feel the Redstream’s “nothingness” is much harder for a Bluemage, who constantly feels and manipulates “something”.
Kinda like how our scientists are still in the process of trying to merely comprehend Dark Matter, despite out near mastery over the manipulation of normal Matter.
Even Sandril’s in there? Huh.
God, I hope Alissa doesn’t have feelings for Ilias. That’ll make, like, two overlapping love triangles.
Maybe this Lilth is an imposter or something. Seems unlikely for her to survive that.
90% of the student populace is dead, but at least the heroes are alright!
And then he woke up, and it was all a dream…
Imagine: “Did everyone survive?!” “Ilias… are you feeling all right? You fell unconscious before the mage exam due to stress. You’ve been out for a while.”
yeah totally going with me. “Off on a suicidal quest while the hero is asleep.’ comment from yesterday ^_^
Shes obviously has the party together so yep. Better heal fast dude..
@ BlueDragon_Z:
I think that’s supposed to be his sister. She looks younger than him.
@ BlueDragon_Z:
Ack! Nevermind, I misread your comment! ^^;

We do not really know what “dark matter” actualy is. it is a work in progress term for something we are not really sure how it works.
For instance it can be some exotic form of matter within the galaxy with ability to repulse normal matter graviticaly. Or some hardly detectable matter outside of galaxy which interacts normaly… or both and there are really two things we do not see instead of one…
@ illeatyourself:
I think Lili made him do it.
@ TraderInTown:
I’m only seeing the one…?
@ Matthew G.:
Sandril-Ilias-Lilth Where Lilith is clearly trying to win Ilias’s heart while he is interested in Sandril.
Alissa-Ilias-Lilith Where Ilias is after Lilith but she’s interested in Alissa and they all end up ignoring each other.
….Wait, I think I messed those up a bit.
TraderInTown wrote:
If you’re right, it’s like some sort of horrible love-quadilateral!
Hmm how to stop a disintegration ball hurled on a massive fireball… bounce the ball back a bit so it dissolves the fireball’s magical energy instead of you, thus ending both spells, wouldn’t take much, just something small like a dispelling ray or such that’s of the same type as the ball o’ death. Would also explain why she isn’t injured in the hologram.
We all like to speculate as to why Lili is still in one piece, ’cause it’s fun and interesting to think about how a mage might get out of a situation like that. But we should remember that we don’t have a full understanding of the metaphysics and mechanics of magic in Gaia. If I were running a GURPS or D&D game I’m sure I’d allow my players creative leeway to escape deadly holocausts of dragon-shaped disintegrating fire death… But for now, I think the point of the story is “It’s a mystery!”
Didn’t someone mention recently, in passing (in-strip), that Lil can cast “a sphere of absolute protection”? There’s nothing about that which needs to necessarily be visible. Maybe it would block all light and so you’d just see a perfectly black ball, or perhaps it could even block time and you’d just see her image hanging there (OK OK that would actually be black as well, but you can apply a LITTLE bit of cartoon physics to these situations… it’s magic after all).
So the big bads attack, she momentarily freaks out for a moment deer-in-headlights style and is unable to do anything, but seeing Ars murdered right in front of her may have broken that paralysis… Mage-trance mode ACTIVATE, Sphere of Absolute Protection GO… wait for as long as the air / mana lasts before dispelling it and hope to high heaven the baddies have gone so you don’t pop back into the world looking down a crossbow.

DUST O_O (or Sraf, aka “elementary particles of consciousness” in its simplest form, for those currently going “wha?”)
Though that would surely be more what the Bluestream is made up of, so that still leaves a question over the Red. Perhaps it’s liquidised Spectre (anti-dust)?
Ignis wrote:
They are but children… they cannot see the liquidised spectres yet.
“Near mastery … of normal Matter”… hahaha we’re not even CLOSE. We’re quite good with it, but nowhere near true mastery yet.
I’m going to have to re-read my astrophysics books (correction: I’m going to have to go to the library, find the astrophysics section, and pick something up at random) cuz I thought dark matter was just interstellar non-luminous stuff we couldn’t see… like galactic coaldust… or micro black holes… or…
(and what little I did know of it has been replaced by Dust)

Her big brother, who she’s still young enough to look up to and love unconditionally rather than being a moody hateful teen about it, has been knocked out for days, and has just woken up at last. Of course she’s happy! She’s only just old enough to not be dancing around the room singing some obnoxious made-up-on-the-spot song about it.
