Dun dun dun, Lilith is back! And…
I HAVE TO WAIT ‘TILL NEXT WEEK TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! T^T
That _seems_ kinda true, as far as we know the only one who did anything to fight the intruders (of our intrepid fivesome) was Ilias. ‘Course, so much took place “offscreen.”
And now the survivor’s guilt. 🙁
Lilith is certainly not herself. First off, I am wondering exactly where she and the other girl are at right now. Secondly, I thought she tried to do something but failed. Lastly, her mood and her actions do not fit her right now.
Don’t you forget about ARS! :'(@ Anon:

Poor Lili… Yes, she DID do nothing… In the midst of a surprise attack likely not thought possible by any of the staff, never mind the students. During the middle of your class address while you were likely nervous about speaking in front of dozens. In less than a few minute’s time, a group of ruthless murders attacked an class of young, inexperienced warriors. This isn’t on her. It’s on those devils that tore through her friends and mentors.
But living in the past? Always wondering “What if…?” That’s no way to live. You live by moving forward and making things right. By bringing something good to this world. You set out there and you face the dark. You stare down the abyss, and you lock it into a metaphysical staring contest until it blinks. And then? Time to bring up the lights, call down the thunder. Show time.
Wasn’t there a “Mass Magic Armor” or “Mass Protection from Arrows” spell somewhere, that people like her are to have prepared all the time?
Also Isaac’s Greater Missile Storm could have helped taking out some assassins before they could strike.
But the author didn’t want it, so it’s not her fault.
Are we going to finally find out how she survived that giant dragon fireball thingy?
@ Matthew G.:
Teachers sadly don’t count…not sure if when or if we find out what happened to old guy mage and Ars, though we can guess.
As Matt “said”, the five-person party of destiny: Ilias, Lili, Alissa, Ryn and Rat-, I mean, Sandril. 😀 Least I’m hoping that’s the eventual adventuring party.
@ Landbark:
Oh aye? According to the fictional realism theory it may very well be.
Ladies and gentlemen… the start of her fall to darkness.
One could be the best magical student ever to graduate, but unless that ability is truly tested then there is no way to know just how capable one could be. Lili is being hard on herself, but she does have a point.
Yes because somehow stopping an evil ball of flaming death in its tracks (and subsequently saving the school from what promised to be one Hell of an explosion) is nothing.
To reference another universe:
“She died, and we did nothing.”
Don’t worry Lilly, It just means that you aren’t cut out to be a battle mage.
Well, don’t look at me. I was shouting at her to murder everyone, but she was just too innocent yet. Give it time! We’ll make a killer out of her yet.
I think it was her fault that they were attacked because she wrecked the bluestream weakening it making it pasible to get past any defense spells and telaporting into the room using the redstream
Very nice work on the last panel, show Lili on the verge of tears.

This does not seem like buff setting… Lilith would have to effectively cast energy barriers around every single human and discriminate friends and foes… That seems unlikely, she could probably cower a crowd by large bubble or create lot of bubbles… however I doubt their defensive power… especialy after Ars´s shield failed and he had to tank arrows by his mane…
Unless she could have teleported either friendlies of foes out… only real thing for her would be to attack… but well at the moment I can not imagine anyway how to efficiently attack them without wiping out most of room glass clean by her spells.
No, Lilith don’t go all Sasuke on us! Sorry, he was the only negative main character that popped into my head.
Lili requires comfort! D:
Someone find the comfort emergency kit!!

Am I allowed to admit that I never watched a single episode of NGE?
So, understandably, Lil’s got a bad case of survivor’s guilt. Given that the attack was over within about half a minute, she didn’t exactly have much time to do anything. The first few seconds would have been shock (the proverbial “rooted to the spot”), then she had other things to worry about – namely a huge fireball heading in her direction!
What she ideally needs to do is gather as much information as possible about what happened, so she (and her friends) can do everything within their power to prevent a repeat occurrence.
It’s not your fault, Lilith, you’re just an innocent WALKING NUKE!
Ah, such is the curse of the overachiever. Not used to failure.
Although she probably never could have taken on that demon army herself. She just thought she could.
They died, you lived, choices were made. Learn from them and live with it. But don’t forget who the murderers were.

Gunnerkrigg!

@ Gayseraph:
Indeed!
I’m torn between the fact that she was overlooking most of the crowd, saw them first, and if my estimation is correct, had at least a minute to do something before she got blasted, but on the other hand…
Nevermind, I expected more from you, Lilith.
