So she knocked him out so she didn’t have to worry about his interference while she checked him to make sure he wasn’t “bugged” somehow. She was trying to keep the entrance to the hideout a secret, and she is probably going to drag him in while he is still out in order to keep it secret from him as well. I love his reaction though. I would probably freak out the same way if I was magically being knocked out by some sort of drug that made my veins glow when a syringe got rammed into my chest in a painful manner. XD

And just like with Sandra and Woo’s latest comic, the facial expressions are pretty much perfect with this one! Have you been doing a lot of practicing or something lately? Because his expression in the first panel is priceless! He certainly looks like someone having a heart attack, and his reaction was perfect as well!

Viviana looks a bit insulted by Illias’ accusation that she would kill him. She also looks as if she has heard this many times. Makes one wonder what she’s been up to all her life but that’s obvious: theiving and checking out people’s pockets.
I do hope she isn’t planning on stealing anything that he is carrying though. That is a terrible way to treat your client. Or customer. Actually they are sort of both client and customer since they are bartering access to the Avaril and Lilith’s ability to open a mysterious lock. Maybe. I am unsure how the terminology works here.

I can understand the whole search for a bug thing. But Viv is being a little too cavalier in her treatment of others. you’d think she’d still be cautious but have at least a little compassion with them. she’d already dumped them in garbage, basically stole a painting, and now knocked out her second client. Llias probably has something on him at least for personal safety. The fact he put his trust in her especially for someone he cares about should of given him some brownie points. Me thinks the Thrill of being the leader of the shadow Dancers is boosting her ego and attitude a bit. and will come to haunt her later.

Given how easily did the golem wipe 50 floors with them, effectively zero speechcraft skills in the pub looking for shadowdancers, not exactly efficient reactions when academy was attacked… I think they should ask for a refund of whatever they payed for their education… since they must pretty much be in negative levels

I like the “drug circulating through arteries/veins” effect
Rather than just the typical whole-body glow or a bit of centred lens flare you might otherwise get. Sits well with the whole magic-powered-science vibe of the strip.
So how come the most powerfull poeple here seem to be kids?
The super-mage? A young girl.
Leader of a thieves guild? A young girl.
Kinda hard to swallow.
The kids being bugged wouldn’t surprise me, if the local authorities had shown anything more than toady-like incompetence so far. If Ilias’ bugged, it would be something left over from a far-too-genresavvy attacker in the Red Halls…
More and more I want to see Viviana get taken down and it be done hard. Especially if she realised that she would have avoided her punishment/fate if she had not tried to take these guys for everything they have in their need to help their friend

I wonder if she isn’t being ‘too’ cavalier. I want to see her alone with her thoughts. I want to see her vulnerable, and broken down to her heart, because I really want to like her.
