Chapter covers – From sketch to finished version

Here you can see how the covers for the last three chapters were created.
- The first column shows the drafts that Powree sent me to request further feedback. The tower was drawn after several initial sketches to determine its final design. The other two images are the very first sketches of each cover. The missing “l” in “Jael Bara” is a typo.
- The second column shows the versions that Powree sent me after she had finished drawing.
- The third column shows the final version of each cover. As you can see I’ve changed the look of each page quite a bit by adding or changing visual effects.
Definite “Like” on these.
These are all poster quality, especially the last one. 😀
This is why I love Gaia.
Beautiful, simply beautiful!
I have to say that the last one has me really excited about the new chapter.
If I were to rate the covers, I would place them so (in ascending order):
• 1: Tower in the Sky: Meh. So-kay, I guess, but it does nothing for me. Looks like an overgrown pepper mill.
• 2: The Red Hall: Fun setup, but really not an attention grabber.
• 3: The Shadowdancers: Not Bad, but it really doesn’t tell us a lot. It doesn’t even really hint at anything.
• 4: The Letter of Jael Bara: Oh-oh, Ominous! Is Lilith going to die? Who is this Jael Bara, and what does she have to do with Lilith’s execution?
• 5: Breaking All Barriers: Wow! Classy picture. This promises to highlight Lilith, who really hasn’t had a great deal to do in the past three chapters. And since she is out and about, you have to assume the rest of the party is too. Things are definitely about to happen. This is one that I would really like to see as wallpaper.
