Breaking All Barriers 145

- Ilias: Maybe you’ve forgotten the incident because it didn’t seem important to you at first.
- Viviana: Probably.
- Viviana: What else could it mean?
- Ilias: Well, if you asked me about the first thing coming to my mind when hearing “Nine months”…
- Ilias: … then it would be the duration of pregnancy in humans.
- Viviana: Yeah. But nobody I know has been pregnant lately.
- Ilias: The clue is just too vague.
- Viviana: Looks like it.
- Ilias: Whoa, there’s more!
But wait, there’s more!
They are so far operating under the assumption that Viviana wrote it and simple forgot it without any extraordinary involvement from outside sources. I wonder if they will continue to do so for long.
Hey Vivi, how strong is that gust of wind that’s right above your head? Did ya feel it? No? Oh…
Oh noes! They memory got so much manipulated that Ilias and Vivi already have a baby and don’t remember about him/her????
@ Trimutius:
In truth they have been in the village for 3 years but only Lili remembers. That’s why she’s so worn out and stays in her room. 😉
A Princess, mayhap?
@ Zeteni:
That seems a bit unfair. For all Vivi know, she slept with Ilias for the first time less than a day ago. Even if she became pregnant, there’s no way she would know about it, be able to write “9 months” down and then forget about it. A time loop thing has been proposed as a theory, but I think It’s rather far fetched for Viviana to consider that option.
I’m also not entirely sure she missed that idea. She does look a bit spooked and it’s not entirely unlikely that reading “9 months” after sleeping with someone (presumable for the first time or for the first time for quite a while) made her uneasy. However, from her perspective, dismissing the idea is the most rational approach.
By the way, if this really does refer to Viviana being pregnant, there’s no guarantee it’s a time loop thing or that Eldor is even involved. Viviana have had previous encounters that at least seemingly involved her being told something by herself. This could be a product of her own strange power rather than Eldor’s.
And don’t forget the spoiler in SW 669 (I assume most of us read both)
“Lilith… Is… m mhmph”
Haven’t we been told that we have reached the maximum number of oben questions already?
I sense a few answer to something coming soon…! But then again, maybe I’m too hopeful?
@ Crystalgate:
What’s so weird about a time loop? Vivi’s already been through a space loop.
Maybe she should consult her local Clear Blue dealer? I mean… if I think about who could possibly have a child in 9 months there is one candidate that comes to mind.
No new unanswered questions, but no answers either. No real information of any kind, in fact, except for the cliffhanger. I really feel like this strip could have been combined with the previous one, with some of the dialogue omitted.
The tension has been unbearable for quite a while now. Cant wait for the inevitable barrier-breaking to begin! 🙂
“No one I know has been pregnant lately.” But has someone you know done something that causes pregnancy lately?
Lookfar wrote:
It’s reverse psychology! The real spoiler is in the last panel: “There’s nothing special about Lilith! Absolutely nothing!” 😉
Inb4 it’s a message warning Viviana of her impending pregnancy from the future.
@ clickbait:
Indeed, we have. Which means you’re not supposed to ask what’s on the next page, obviously. =P
“If you’re reading this, and you’re still in Oakdale, you’ve been stuck there for nine months, just like the people you met when you got here, who can only vaguely remember yesterday.”
What a tease comic, they all have been recently 🙂 Looking forward to it being resolved, though!
After a look in the archives, the comic approximately nine months ago was the one where Vivi asks to sleep in the same bed as with Ilias.

Nah – we were told that Gaia had *not quite yet* reached the maximum number of open questions earlier on.
Now, now we have.
@ Alexander The 1st:
With this page, Gaia has reached the maximal amount of unexplained questions.
-BAB 144, previous page, just below the strip.
Yeah, honestly! The moment I saw it I expected it would be a whole journal, since that would
Make sense if theyve previously discovered a memory loop
You need to be a Patreon to get out of this village!

For one reason, she seems to discard the possibility, that she herself might be pregnant without having the slightest doubt.
The easiest assumtion here is that she has very good reason to do so.

Escher had a picture of hands painting/drawing each other, characters from a webcomic sponsoring their artists would be taking this one step further … maybe an interesting buisness plan?
I think the Sandra and Woo obliviousness jokes have rubbed off onto this comic too XD.

I don’t know. I think it’s easier to assume that two young adults who just shared a night together having what we can assume was very vocal sex, are ignoring the possibility of pregnancy. It’s frankly, the oldest story in the book.
Aaaaaand Vivi’s pregnant. Ilias the sharpshooter, everybody.
next page: *facepalm* nine months from now. you. blockhead!
To paraphrase, “The only water in the village is the Pond.” Right?
I’m pretty sure this comic is just there to troll all the people who leaped to pregnancy guesses. And are still leaping to pregnancy guesses.
Wandre wrote:
Vivi should be way too smart for that. If she sleeps with someone she’d either be aware of the possible consequences or have taken measures to avoid then … well – unless it’s been another missing crystal in some device ….
“Doesn’t happen to me” is just not her.

It makes less sense for Vivi to think she was trough a time loop than it does for us. She was very thirsty, injured and overall not in best of shape. There was a big fog and very clearly supernatural activities going on. As far as she knows, it may have been an illusion or a hallucination. The time loop also wasn’t very clean. First she saw her future self in a shadowy shape. She called out to it, it ran away and she ran after. Then she stopped and she saw her past self clearly who also called out to her. If this was a clean time loop, the distance between her and her past self must have been the same as it was between her and her future self. Nevertheless, she saw her past self clearly while she saw her future self as a shadowy form. Further, she didn’t run away as her future self did, she fainted. It may in fact not even be a time loop, a clean time loop is already out of question.
Further, the time loop idea requires her to in the future decide to give herself a vague message instead of straight out writing “you just got pregnant” or whatever the nine months is referring to. Vague, but important, messages are common in fiction, but from Vivi’s perspective its real life and in real life vague messages are usually just a result of poor communication or trolling.
We, viewing this comic from the outside, have reasons to believe in the time loop idea (personally, I’m a bit skeptic to it), but for Vivi who’s part of the fictional world, that idea makes very little sense. That she wrote the message, but it wasn’t very important so she forgot, makes far more sense from her perspective.
@ headgamerz:
You have me legit worried this could get real dark. I am glued.
@ Crystalgate:
Maybe – IF this is some kind of time loop – she intentionally gave herself a vague clue. This reminds me of the film “Paycheck”. I would not like to give any spoilers here, so, if you know the film, you probably know what I mean.
And “there’s more”, so let’s see what the next clues are.
CUT!
Next scene: Ryn concluding his explanations to Alissa about his findings. (Readers still clueless.)
My bet is still that in 9 month Gaia will be in grave danger. Just ask Esther. San … Lilith … maybe even Eldor.
I still like my original prediction. In a month’s time, it will read, “8 months”. Then a month later, it will read, “7 months”, and so on.
What we have here is a countdown clock to the end-of-the-age event that San alluded to when she was speaking to the Dragons.
“Woah, there’s more here!”
“WAIT NO THAT’S PRIVATE!”
Wandre wrote:
Actually, Gaian fertility is quite a bit lower than ours. There’s only a finite amount of Gaia to go around. It’s probably not at all that easy to get pregnant.
@ Lookfar:
Omg.
Dear gods! It’s as if turning to the next page in a notebook brings about MORE INFORMATION! Someone get the intelligence branch, they must be made aware!
The next page says TEN months!
@ Marscaleb:
Shouldn’t that be “10” months? 😉
There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don’t.
PMark wrote:
😉 hm how does 9 fit the binary system?
vivi is going to have a kid i think…

The digit ‘9’ doesn’t exist in binary. The only digits allowed in binary are ‘1’ and ‘0’. The value ‘9’ is 1001 in binary.
certainly like your web site but you have to take a look at the spelling on several of
your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and
I find it very bothersome to tell the reality nevertheless I will definitely come again again.
“It reads, …’Vivias/Iliana’?”
