- Viviana: Can’t you use your eyes!
- Ryker Buffin: Oww…
- Guard: Gotcha, vandal!
- Ryker Buffin: Aww, dammit…!
- Guard: That’s earned you a trip to the guardhouse!
- Viviana: Oh, no! What did he do this time?
- Ryker Buffin: Huh?
- Guard: He defaced municipal property with the sign of the Shadowdancers! Do you know this troublemaker?
- Viviana: Yes, unfortunately. He’s my little brother.
- Ryker Buffin: What?!
- Ryker Buffin: Bullshit! She–
- Ilias: Watch your mouth,… Filimor!
- Viviana: Come along now! I’m sure our father will be thrilled to hear what you did this time!
- Guard: Hey, not so fast!
Good idea and quick, too. But wether that will work?
My money, were I one to gamble, would be on Ryker catching on and realizing Viviana’s helping him. That said, him screwing up and blowing Viviana and Ilias’s cover would be a nice subversion.
Recruiting minions 101. Now to take control of the situation with a threat and reversal.
Poor fellow, his head is probably spinning like a top inside trying to keep up with everything that’s going on.
P.S. Ryker? I don’t remember seeing this fellow before. Am I forgetting?
@ Forest Wells:
No, we haven’t seen him before the last page.
Ilias is really getting into this whole “undercover” thing. Still a little hesitant, butI bet he’ll get over it pretty quick.
If I were him, I’d stick with “Filimor”. It’s a cooler name than Ryker
This played out exactly the way I thought it would. 😛 I’m surprised I was the only one to point it out, actually.
Vivi and Ilias really read each other’s minds perfectly, there was no need for even sign language for Ilias to know what to do to make the charade work.
You know, you really have to hand it to Ilias, he picks up on things really quick and jumps right in, swinging. No flies on him.
so…. they gonna run around adopting every attention seeking teen?^^
I presume because this is a story he will really know something, but in reallity I’d assume painting a shadowdancers dagger on a wall is just a rebellious thing to do^^
pfft! Filimor?XD
@ Darth Killer:
Well, Vivi DID wink her eye at him in panel 2, so that’s something.. Besides..
I think it’s only fair to assume that much capability for Ilias, I mean, it’s obvious to him that Vivi is acting and making this up, why wouldn’t
he join in? There’s even natural hesitation in him fiddling around a second or two before coming up with a reasonable name, so all in all,
rather believable turn of events in my opinion.

Just because you were the only one to point it out does not mean you were the only one to think of this possible scenario. Others (self included) may have thought that Vivi’s plan in having Ryker (now Filimor) running into her could be a precursor to her telling the guard that the boy was her trouble-making brother, but because you got in first, they felt no need to make the comment public.
Props to you for being the first to say it, though.
so the only thing that isn’t changed in Gaia is the swearwords.
@ JosephDragon:
… and all the rest of the language, actually.
Guard: “I need to teach that *@!#! little curser a lesson!”
I notice that several commenters are assuming that “Filimor” is just an invented name for this kid. What if it’s more than that? It could be a code-word to identify them as fellow members of the Shadowdancers.
@ MauveCloud:
Well, Ilias did pause slightly before saying it, so that’s definitely a possibility. Assuming he wasn’t just desperately trying to think up a name…
Now, this is a relatively risky move…
@MauveCloud
Nice thinking. Could also explain why Ryker/Filimor stopped interrupting in the last panel.
@all
Unfortunately the guard will likely request that they pay for the damage….and if
they coincidentally haven’t enough money, trouble is brewing.
It IS interesting that the Vandals (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vandals) evidently existed on Gaia, as well. Some sort of time/event parallels, maybe…?
Hey people in the comments ?
Stop giving them advices on how to continue the story
@ …:
We aren’t, it’s called prediction and theory crafting.
@ …:
We shall never stop.
I have some ideas how the story will further develop….
Viviana dies now because the paint on the hands of Ryker is allergic and
she is sensibilized after dying her hair *twice*. Illias is heart-broken and
will become a monk.
Lilith will escape from the tower by rubbing the secretly hoarded strawberry jam
from her prison sandwiches on her scalp to strengthen it. Then she will fasten her
hair and apply a new magical spell which accelerates hair growth. So she will slowly
descend the tower and escapes.
“Watch your mouth!
…like I’m doing, Filimor.”

This was epic. Thanks for that!
Also, he becomes Gaia’s religious equivalent of a Buddhist monk and immolates himself. The wind happens to blow in just the right direction to set the Great Tree’s branches on fire, which loosens hidden barriers preventing Bhaal from taking the world, meaning Vivi fulfills her destiny of being one of those chosen to help end the world.
Just read the entire comic up to this point today. Thought there was something wrong with the website when a new comic didn’t appear.
Kept clicking for a full thirty seconds. Silly me.
And Novil, I noticed a few minor grammatical errors in a few of the strips. Not sure if they were intentional, and I’m sure I’m not the first to have raised this question. If you need someone to edit your English translations… Probably don’t call me. I don’t know a lick of German.
This Ryker fella isn’t the brightest bulb, is he? They’re trying to get him OUT of trouble but he’s looking a gift horse right in the mouth
