Oh no! The magic tree got shot! Now is not the time for Eldor to be checking his email. (He’s probably miffed that he can’t get a selfie in his original body.) If the tree’s power effect goes, that’ll be the end of it’s power blessings on the Conception Festival. Viv and Lillie are part of the last +1 generation.
as we can plainly see from the engle energies unleashed made it trough a third of the tree, rupturing the insides… if same spell was aimed on the opposing side, and then the dragon would shift the possition 90° in regards tothe three and blasted its sides – the tree is dead.
So far it only settles on kinetic bombardment on damaged side.
and Bahamut does not seem to mind the low level spell barrage on him at all… like what is fired against him are meerely bugs on the windshield. It cant even make a dent in his armor.
Fine work, indeed. Subtle, keen, refined, in detail… Taking care of even the smallest minutiae… Quiet and calm too. Eldor’s style, a leopard never changes its spots. Such a botcher he is…
I don’t know why, but seeing that giant tree get destroyed is really satisfying. It might be because of Zelda games, but I always have a go-to feeling of blow up all giant magic trees. I know everything is not going according to plan for Eldor, But, Good Job.

Well when your convoluted plan fails appart its usually good thing to revert to something blatantly simple… if at least to distract everyone around.
I suspect Eldor is attempting to track the soulsphere somehow… given the amount of magic in it should not be that difficult, but I kind of suspect that simply following holes in the walls is too simple solution for Eldor to think up…
Cool!
I dunno why this is kinda satisfying~ But apparently, it’s not just me. (I promise I’m not evil. I just look it sometimes.)
Sandril’s body works really well for Eldor! I like it. But I’m curious… does this mean there is twice the soul in that body? Does that… mean anything? Is it stable?
Wow, that… well… wow…
So “The Collapse” is the collapse of the tree, with everything it means regarding the bluestream and spiritstream…
WOnder what is going on with Sandril, trapped in his own body. Is Eldor going to regenerate his own body and move back? Is Sandril practically “dead”?
It’s going to be _years_ until the “I got a piece of the Great Tree, only 10 gold.” back-ally frauds run out, if ever. Not to mention the amount of sprig seedlings and possible nuts or acorns, or “got this off an elven tree surgeon.” We never did get any info on if the rich were eating Tree leaf salads, what’re they going to do with that supply cut off? Olivier probably won’t bring in a Countess Bathory, though bathing in dragon’s blood has been a thing since that Viking opera, and they got more dragons and imps.
Oh dear, The Great Tree, which has stood for thousands of years and seems to be intrinsically linked to the Spiritstream, is being attacked while the city around it is in the midst of a rebellion. Hopefully, both Canian forces and Illeasarian rebels will band together against this great threat… but with collapse inevitable and soon, it seems that the destruction of the Great Tree is inevitable.
Killing flies with a cannon? Eldor. It’s not only what he is doing, is *how* he is doing. And of course, throwing everything up in the air is always a plan B. By some reason, every Eldor’s plan finish this way.
First he blamed attack of his cult on Midgard and Lilith, then repurposed it against Shadowdancers while eliminating his sole rival at court, managed to contain the team in time space maze in which he somewhat underestimated Liliths ability to learn on her own…
Captured San´s power effectively goating her to come to him… manipulated her dragon escord to likely spring an explosiver trap that killed them… with noone looking for San.
Got rid of cult who outlived its usefulness… and well – really did not take into account a very skilled Midgard battlemage who hyjacked his portal which hardly is common ability… Really – without Arty Sandril would not have any way how to get to him.
And the thing is – noone – even Lilith – could have actually ever assumed Midgard special forces would get Sandril to Eldor. Maybe she somehow could sense that Eldor gets killed by some magic… and that that something happens with Eldors soul… but she certainly could not have expected that he survives even that.
It’s going to be _years_ until the “I got a piece of the Great Tree, only 10 gold.” back-ally frauds run out, if ever.
YEARS? I don’t think the one with piece of Jesus’s cross is completely over, and it was two thousand years and the cross was MUCH smaller. This is going to run for millennia at minimum.
Keep calm. The goal of Eldor is to restore Bhaal in control of the Source. He has been unsuccessful, and nothing is pointing at he can achieve it. In fact, he has lost the sphere and all his plan is going down the drain. If you keep in mind he is almost immortal and has an enormous magic power (the biggest in all Gaia for sure), don’t you think he surely could have made it a bit better?
He has made a huge waste of resources (and pain) to obtain very few, not to say nothing. Until now, nothing at all. Only destruction and frustration. Honestly, from such a “smart” guy I would have waited better plans. He is so arrogant and he likes so much living in his bubble, he doesn’t realize of anything. He doesn’t care, anyway. “If reality don’t support my plans, so much the worse for reality”.
Goal of Eldor is to take down entity that tried to killed him for medling in magic the entity did want to be in sole control of.
Bhaal is just a tool for him to do it.
At the moment I suspect he is just reassesing his plans and looking for the orb while a little distracion is loose upon the city.
Huh, since when were you on the “Eldor’s goal was to free Bhaal” boat? Last I checked you were adamantly in the “Eldor’s goal was immortality” camp. Looks like the only botcher here is you.
Once he said it, I think we can accept as true, and that’s the reason I repeat what he said, literally I am quoting him.
It’s true I said he was looking for immortality (because he himself again did a lot so that it was thought such a thing), but I think this makes no sense anymore, firstly he stated clearly what he wants, and secondly if he’s not already immortal, he is hard to kill. All of this we know after the plot uncovered it, before that I don’t think my suppositions were so hare-brained. It’s Eldor who is insane in his way of making things, so the logic to understand him cannot be that plain.
But it’s the same thing. In fact, he said he wants Bhaal in control again of the Source to regain “the older order”, of course he is looking for something by doing this, but his plan is (at least firstly) let Bhaal to regain control. As far as we know by now, he is as near as a thousand years ago to reach it.
What he is doing is destroying the tree, I don’t think it will have not consequences, and Eldor knows which will be. In my opinion this “B-plan” is very disgraceful (far worse than the original), but I suppose it’s a matter of aesthetics.
Anyway, another thing we know for sure is it’s going to happen a collapse. I guess I can suppose a collapse is also something far away from Eldor’s goals. Whatever you tried, of you win a collapse I am unable to see how this result can be considered a success.
If you think about all that Eldor did (and did not), I don’t understand how you can consider him a competent guy. Lili is alive by miracle, Delvor almost killed her and Eldor didn’t realize until all was over, she is alive because of her friends, not Eldor’s plan (and it was not written anywhere that her friends could freed her) , the same can be said about Vivi, and you can find a lot of holes like these. I don’t think they are in the plot to lengthen it.
Eldor behaves a lot like I do when I trigger big things other people tend to watch as they’re happening but if it’s only part of my road I’m not watching, rather working on my next steps.
Oh shit
where’s the good dragons?
@ goono bononnen:
Busy mourning the apparent death of San.

It looks as if Eldor is somehow remote-controlling this with his device. Or maybe just checking the hitpoints.
god dammit, Ridley, go back to your franchise
Elor’s just miffed that his dimensional pocket monster didn’t topple the tree in one hit and now has to use other attacks to bring it down.
Goodbye to the Formerly Great Tree.
Looks like the “collapse” is going to be very literal.

Typical millennial. Sandril/Eldor all sending tweets on his phone while the world burns.

I suspect that he is attempting to connect to his orbital satellite sensor network querring a worldwide scan for a massive magic loaded ball…
So, what was Lilith’s plan?
