Für Januar sind wir auf der Suche nach Gast-Kunst für Gaia. Ich hoffe jeder Interessierte ist einigermaßen des Englischen mächtig, so dass er die folgende genauere Beschreibung versteht:
We need to build a larger buffer of finished pages, so Gaia won’t be updated from Tuesday, 4 January, to Thursday, 14 January.
To fill the gap, we’re looking for Gaia guest art!
Guest art must feature at least one character who has appeared in Gaia so far.
The artwork will be published on the Gaia homepage in place of a normal comic page. It will stay online for two or three days, so it will be seen by at least 10,000 different visitors. After that, it will be moved to the (not yet existing) “Artwork” page on our website.
You should send the finished image to novil@gmx.de.
If your guest art is drawn digitally, I would prefer if you send it to me in its original size in a lossless format (for example PNG without reduced color depth). If your guest art is drawn on paper and then scanned in, you should send me a cleaned version of reasonable size in a lossless format.
I will add a copyright notice with your name and website (if you have one) at the bottom of the image. This copyright notice will be more prominent than the one we usually use. Your name and website will also be added to the description area below the image. Your website has to be rated USK-16 (suitable for teenagers) or less. This excludes any sort of pornographic and extremely violent content. The website does not have to be a webcomic site; it could also be a blog, gallery, etc. You can include a short description of your webcomic/website.

After a slow start, I once again received a good number of great entries for the Sandra and Woo and Gaia fanart contest 2012. Since I also wanted to acknowledge clever ideas, I put two pictures on the places 4 and 5 which weren’t drawn as well as some of the other ones.

Ich hoffe jeder, der daran interessiert ist, am Fanart-Wettbewerb 2012 mitzumachen, versteht zumindest die zentralen Gesichtspunkte des folgenden englischen Texts:
One year after the last fanart contest, it’s time for another one! You can use characters from Sandra and Woo and Gaia for your entry.
Unlike most such contests, ours comes with nice prize money for the five winners who I will pick from all contestants:
- 1. place: $120
- 2. place: $70
- 3. place: $50
- 4. place: $35
- 5. place: $25
Please send your entry in an e-mail with the subject “Fanart Contest” to novil@gmx.de. You can attach the entry to the e-mail or link to it in the e-mail text body. You must submit your entry before Tuesday, 1 May 2012. I hope one month is enough time for everybody who is interested in entering the contest.
Additional information about the contest:
- You can submit several drawings (or other types of art), but you can’t win multiple prizes, only the prize for the best entry.
- You are allowed, even encouraged, to post your entry on other websites.
- After displaying them in a blog post, all entries will be put into the fanart section of our Artwork page. If you have a website, you should add a link to it in your e-mail.
- You can sign your work, but a large, ugly watermark will reduce your chance of winning.
- If your image is drawn digitally it would be convenient if you send it to me in its original size in a lossless format, for example as a PNG file with full color depth. If your image is drawn on paper and then scanned in, you should send me a cleaned-up version of reasonable size in a lossless format. The more detailed the artwork is, the bigger the image size should be. But don’t send anything with more than 25 million pixel (5000 x 5000 pixel).
If you have further questions about the contest, please ask them in the comment section.
