All Good Things Come to an End…

… but has it to be that early?

Today is a sad day for me since my favorite webcomic Gill has gone on indefinite hiatus. I guess its creator has burned out after producing five strips per week for several months without seeing a sufficient return of investment (money, fame, whatever).

In the same breath, the website of another one of my favorites, Duxter, has been dead for several weeks now. Since I was expecting something like this might happen after the massive problems Duxter had experienced with its former host, I downloaded all comics before it went offline. If you don’t want to miss this funny comic you can download a -> zip archive of all Duxter strips <- (except for the last four or so).

Several months ago the last strip of the short-lived Whubble was put on its website, another winner of a Webcomic Beaky Award as one of the best new webcomics of 2008 (besides Sandra and Woo and One Swoop Fell).

I guess you shouldn’t take your favorite webcomics for granted. Especially if they are financially unsuccessful “by design”. That means basically any strip without hot chicks or nerdy videogame humor or ones that are not catered towards an enthusiastic niche audience. (The exceptions prove the rule.)

Just Arrived: T-Shirt, Poster and Mousepad

So, several of the merchandising items I ordered myself have arrived in the meantime. I am very happy with the quality of the products. 🙂

Support Sandra and Woo

It is great that Sandra and Woo has so many dedicated readers now, but we don’t believe that every potential reader has already heard of it. Because of that we’re placing ads for Sandra and Woo on many other webcomic sites. But advertising is not free and so we’re currently spending nearly $100 a month on it.

Therefore, adding a link to Sandra and Woo on your own website or blog is the easiest way to support us since clicks that do not cost anything are the best clicks. Or maybe you’re a member of a forum that contains a thread about webcomics in which you could mention Sandra and Woo.

If you want to help us paying our advertising bills, but at the same time don’t want to spend extra money by making a donation or by buying a product in our store, you could also buy stuff at Amazon.com using our affiliate link button (I will later add a similar button to the left sidebar):

Furthermore, there are now Digg and Reddit buttons beneath each strip. If you have an account at one of these sites you can drive more interest to a particular comic by submitting it or, if it’s already submitted, by clicking on the “up” button.

Lazy Summer Day + Free Shipping of Store Items

Powree has drawn this awesome picture of Sandra and Woo lying in the sun under a tree:

You can also buy a poster / print of this artwork. Since the original file resolution is 3400 x 4400 pixel, there’s no quality decrease at larger sizes. There’s also a bunch of other products available, especially the mousepad looks nice.

Zazzle currently offers free shipping (until 30 June 2009) to any destination address in the world. This is apparently the first time ever Zazzle makes such an offer. I have also lowered the prices of the products and made some adjustments to the designs I (h)ate Tweety and The Devil. So if you are interested in any of the six available designs in our store, it’s the perfect time to get it!

To get free shipping, the code JUNESHIPFREE has to be entered when checking out the order. The free shipping offer is also available at the stores for the United Kingdom (and the rest of Europe), Canada and Australia.

Alice and Kev

Alice and Kev is a series of articles, which are illustrated with screenshots out of the game, about being homeless in The Sims 3 (read from the beginning). It’s a really creative way of telling a story using the advanced AI of The Sims 3. A warning, though: Alice and Kev is rather depressing than funny.
