- Woo: I know I still owe you one, b–
- Tibor: Cheer up. I’m not interested.
- Woo: No? She’s not your type, right?
- Tibor: You bet she is. Lily is wonderful.
- Woo: Ah, then you’re probably suffering from extreme sexual exhaustion. I bet you have more girls than you can count.
- Tibor: No, not really.
- Woo: But she’s not a psycho that’ll scratch out my eyes while I’m sleeping, is she…?
- Tibor: Only when you cheat on her.
- Woo: Okay, I give up. Why aren’t you interested in her? Huh? HUH?!
- Tibor: She’s my daughter.

Didn’t expect that. An ex, possible. Family, probably. But father? Once again it shows how great this comic is and never is really as straight-forward as everybody thinks.
I wish MY dad had minions… Of course, he probably would be less willing to let me borrow them than he is willing right now to let me borrow his car…
By the way, does anyone else think it would be great to see a sketch of Tibor, with a branch shaped vaguely like a shotgun, standing in front of Lily? XD

Ok, it may have been a few strips since but, I stand corrected. I’m more-or-less a petty moron who’s always looking for a cliche break or a change in a formula. As a result I usually forget that these formulas are implemented because they do a good job at driving a story.

I would think Gus and Rocco know who she is but are just lunkheads so they act that way toward any femal. Im guessing that they dont mate much either.

Despite all the speculation, I honestly did not anticipate their relation being father/daughter, mostly because Tibor didn’t look too much older than Woo. Looks like the ol’ guy’s aged pretty darn well!
I want to see what happens to Gus and Rocco when they slink back into the forest, having had no luck in finding Saskatchewan, only to meet up with Woo and with Tibor (having found out how they harrassed his kitten). But that’s probably a bit too much schadenfreude for this strip. 🙂

@Baxtrr: You should check the Cast page… Gus and Rocco is “recurring characters that probably won’t be used again in the future”…
Plus, now I love the “psycho face” of Lily in panel 4…
I have to confess I knew this was coming. Seemed obvious to me from the get-go.
Think about it: She’s too young to have been here last mating season. She’s too pretty and too smart and too sensible to be either Rocco’s or Gus’s kid. Since those two and Tibor were apparently monopolizing all mating rights, that left Tibor.
However, Novil felt, and quite reasonably so, that stating that conclusion right away (in the first comment after the update which introduced her was posted, no less) was going to ruin the surprise for those of you who didn’t automatically jump on the same train of assumption, so… And by doing so, he confirmed it.
Anyway, nice to see Tibor finally finds Woo to be… Worthy.
Also… “Only when you cheat on her…” From reading the Wikipedia article, I’ve gotten the impression that raccoons not only don’t mate for life, they don’t mate exclusively in a single season, neither the males nor the females. Going to be interesting to see if either Woo or Lily has any difficulty maintaining a monogamous relationship.
I’m now wondering who Lily’s mother is.
And looking forward to what happens when Woo introduces Lily to Sandra.
@Twilightfairy: Did she eat it? In the first frame of the second line, it’s hard to tell if she caught it, or got it to land on her finger. It’s not there two frames later when she’s covering the giggle, but she could either have eaten it, or let it go. Kind of like the last piece of fish two updates ago. It’s a nice touch either way.
@Theodore & Maark30: They probably figured that as her daddy’s goons they got first crack at her. I’d imagine it’s not an uncommon assumption in mobs/gangs, that the lieutenants have “rights” to court the leader’s sister or daughter.
@Blitzkrieg1701: According to Wikipedia, raccoons in capativity can live to 20 years, but in the wild they tend to not last more than 3-5, mostly due to human and predator hazards and the occasional infectious disease. It’s highly possible that Tibor was 3 when introduced (making him 4 now), compared with Woo’s 1 at the time (2 now). And Lily is probably also only 1, if that, at this time. The same article mentions that most yearling males aren’t quite mature yet, but females are.

I’m thinking the fact that Woo did protect Lily from Gus and Rocco, and did it so thoroughly, is why Tibor seems to approve of him now. (Yay Woo!) However, I don’t think Tibor ever really disapproved of Woo, except when Woo got interested in Tibor’s female last season. 🙂
speaking as the father of a daughter, evidently dad approves of woo, if not he’d be learning everything he never wanted to know about pain by now. high marks for being able to feed and protect her, and for treating her like a lady.

When i saw what he said in 3rd panel, then saw the reaction on 4th without reading the text, it seemed as though she had heard him and he was afraid of being beaten up or something. But anyhow, great strip as always!

Keep up the great work with this comic, I find that most Web-Comics are quite predictable but this one keeps surprising me and I like that.
