The current story arc started with this strip: Hit-Boy.
To clarify: She’s wanted for being a rebel, not for being a criminal.

- Ralph: … And then she took you to the shooting range!?
- Cloud: Yeah.
- Ralph: … Wow, your mom is a real killer!
- Ralph: What? What’s wrong?
- Larisa: I see you’ve googled her too.
- Cloud: Larisa, please! Mom was taken off that “Myanmar’s Most Wanted” page two years ago!
- Larisa: Nah Cloudy, she’s back on it.

love kick ass movie reference
Wow…. Myanmar’s Most Wanted?!
I knew she was bad-ass, but I didn’t know she was THAT bad-ass!
— merge of double post —
Cloud’s face is also awesome in the second panel.
If my mom was on a most wanted page on the internet, I would be just as worried as cloud but at the same time, impressed, and a little intimidated.
@gamerjoel135: I’d probably mostly be the “intimidated” part of those three…
My own little question – what would happen if Cloud went to a Renn Fest?
Okay, That’s it! I’m totally convinced that our Ye Thuza has some super-special-awesome origin story that probably could be made into a major motion picture starring [insert favorite actor here] that involves her meeting her husband, playing Final Fantasy VII, and kicking down doors blowing holes into people like Gary Oldman in that movie Leon The Professional.
I get the distinct impression Ralph has very little idea just what he’s getting into conversationally.
Now whether he believes they are serious or not, I don’t know. Given the distinctiveness of Cloud and Larisa, I wonder what odd quirks Sandra and her family have… (No, having a coon is too tame an oddity.)
…How does Larisa know this? What does she look up on the internet?
The legend of Ye Thuza grows… I’m sure Larisa is a huge fan.
Also, minor grammar thing. It should be “Mom was,” not “Mom’s been.”
Maou: To be fare, Cloud is under a bit of stress here, so don’t expect his English to be spot on text book perfict.
Hobbes: It depends on how far abroad he wants to draw from the franchise. My first time at the Minnesota Ren Fest, I saw a guy dressed up as a Black Mage, complete with pointy wide brimmed hat, black hood, and yellow spots for eyes.
i think i’m in love in his mom 😀
…I’m more worried about what she brought Cloud to the shooting range for. From what I know, she would be more the type to shoot at Cloud and see if he can dodge or deflect bullets o.o;
Cloudy? I guess you’ve got the English pun with ‘cloudy’ going on and I guess that there isn’t much better of a nickname for him other than references to the spikey-haired cloud. But still, Cloudy?
Who else could have had the idea to “google” someones mother then Larisa right? XD
We all know she’s not a bad person so don’ worry. 😉
Larisa probably stumbled onto this little fact while checking up on all the places that SHE’S wanted in.
very likely to teach him to handle firearms safely for the time when he is old enough to legally own and use them for lawful purposes, if firearms can be legally possessed where he lives, and since there is a shooting range available to the public that would imply that at least some types of firearms can be legally owned and used by law biding citizens. i rather doubt that she would shoot at cloud for any reason, he is her son, nicht wahr?
…You just know that everyone who reads this comic is going to google that now…
*goes and googles ‘Myanmar’s Most Wanted’*
It’s funny and slightly disturbing how I got ads of making vacation in Myanmar after I googled it again…
I mean, in this context… ?_?
@“gunner”:
It might be a prejudice but isn’t it normal in some states in the USA that even kids learn to use firearms?
I can remember a vid on Youtube with a girl about 12 years of age firing something like a gatling gun…
I’m not so familiar with firearms so I don’t know if it was a gatling or just a big machinegun ^^’
fact is the thing was about “her size” XD”’
I don’t know what I should think about that… I don’t like this whole “own your own weapon”-idea anyway but I think Cloud is responsible-minded enough not to go nuts with such things.
And with his mom it’s a completly other story ^^ she grew up with them more or less… rather more than less…
PS: yes, Clouds face in pannel 2 is priceless ^^
But no one said anything about Ralphs expression yet? XD
I think he’s about to pee himself 😛
Isn’t being a rebel by definition being a criminal? At least in the eyes of the governing body you’re rebelling against.
Oh great, firearms. They should get banned, like we did in Australia. The world without guns would be a much better place!
Cloud`s face is so very…..wrongmusing?I think it`s amusing and also wrong.I can`t explain it.Or stop laughing at it.. haha
That’s a very, very complex issue… she’d certainly be breaking the law of the country she’s rebelling against, but wouldn’t necessarily be violating human rights, and would likely be considered a soldier or enemy combatant under international law. Like I said, it’s complicated; the reason for the clarification is to separate her from “Most Wanted” in the sense of sociopaths, thieves and murderers, and “Most Wanted” in the sense of political dissidents and rebels. Part of the reason it’s so complex is “terrorists” fall right in the middleground, as they frequently advocate a cause or belief that is positive (to them and their supporters), while simultaneously doing damage to innocents, uninvolved parties and violating human rights. But even the purest-hearted rebels will often end up having to take lives for their causes…
Anyway, you’re technically right, but she’s wanted for being a rebel, not for being a traditional criminal.
Oh so cool. Being the son of a sharp-shooting country girl myself, I can tell you Cloud that you can be proud of her.
As for the who is right and who is wrong on the rebellion issue, remember this one thing. History is written by the winner.
You have no idea how happy I am to read that :O
But if I’d explain the reason I’m afraid it would lead to completely unwanted misunderstandings with less large-minded/unbiassed people…
Hey, what happened to Cloud’s bandaid?
I smell some backstory comming up.
Ah, the spit take. Old fashioned, but servicable.
OK, this might be sad (but ought to be expected) but I googled “Ye Thuza” and “Myanmar’s Most Wanted”
Ye Thuza top reasponse (aside from this comic)

Myanmar: No chanting to drum up political support
Why’d my comment get low ratings? I can’t believe there are gun-toting madmen reading this comic!
I have a gun, also, on shooting range i played with some sirius toys including PSG1 and some machine guns.
that does not make me psycho that rampages streets witch chainsaw…
also… guns are cool 😀
and i’m in love in his mom now <3
@ someone.
i believe i’ve seen that youtube clip you mentioned, the little girl firing the m-2 browning heavy barrel .50 caliber machinegun. no, that’s not the norm, that occurred at a special event for legal owners of registered full automatic weapons. however it is not unusual in states where hunting is a common sport, for young girls and boys to take the required hunter safety course even before they are old enough to get a hunting license, accompanying a father or older brother in the field. i started my grand daughter, erika, shooting her grand mother’s small semi-automatic .22 pistol at age 6, on a paper target turkey, she did well even as a beginner. she has shown no interest in hunting but enjoys informal target shooting, and she has a firm grasp of the safety rules as i was once a state hunter safety instructor myself.

@ lacquer,
you have a right to your opinion, at least under the law where i live, but that does not require anyone else to agree with it. evidently several people here do not agree with you, such is life. go in peace.
@Goro san
What do you have? I wish I could CCW a Glock 19, but like that guy said private ownership of firearms for self-defense in Australia is a no-no. 🙁
I like Liz’s expressions in this as well. So smug, so close to bursting out laughing but just containing it. Very well rendered 🙂
Being a rebel shouldn’t necessarily make you a criminal. Though some are agressive power-grabs or outgrowths of turf wars, not all rebellions don’t start out as armed coups… lawful and rightful opposition can be ruthlessly repressed and reacted to in draconian ways by a despotic government until it seems like it’s the only option you have left. Fight, flight, or being crushed beneath their jackboot.
Not sure what the movie reference is in this particular strip, but then I only saw it once (superb as KA is, it feels more like a re-watch on DVD with a room full of friends sort of film, rather than repeat cinema visits with dwindling numbers of compatriots) and that was a while ago.
@“gunner”
Well… I don’t know what I should think about 6 year olds firing guns… XD”’
gunslinger girl anyone? … just kidding
I’d never give a kid a weapon, not even a blank gun XD’
But either way. It’s simply an other mentality.
As long as you are responsible with that things and make sure kids don’t go “Oh woooow! that sure smacks!” (if you know what I mean…) I think it’s ok…
But you have to admit that it’s way too easy to get weapons in the USA, isn’t it?
I’ve never had a gun in hands and to be honest I don’t really care ^^
Oh, that reminds me of one of my old teachers…
I’m not sure about the word in english (marksman?)… but he used to shoot as a sport too.
Once he brought his revolver to class, without the ammunition of course 😉
To give you an example about commen thoughts about guns here in germany:
I was an outsider in school since I was one of the few boys not picking on “weaker” ones.
(I’m sure you know that from the states as well)
So the other pupils made jokes about me stealing the gun to go an a rampage… haha… funny… >_>
So much for the differences between countrys 😛
@lacquer:
In the USA owning a weapon is part of the whole freedom-thing and most people here are from the states.
So what did you expect?
As I said, it’s an other mentality.
I don’t like that idea either but as “gunner” said not everyone using guns in a sport-like fashion is a serial killer.
It’s like the prejudice here in germany about people how play egoshooters…
Til now every rampage was said to be connected to such games, but thats simply bullcrap.
(and no, I dont’ play such games 😛 )
The mechanisms are much more complex but no one who should wants to deal with such problems.
In the USA it’s kinda the same issue, but to be honest, how easy it is to get a gun there doesn’t help to solve it either.
That’s something even people from the states should admit.
But a murderer does not need a gun to kill it’s just helpfull…
I’m sure in Australia where you come from is just as much crime as everywhere else.
And in a world without guns people would simply go back to kill each other with stones or bare hands, wouldn’t they?
Everything got it’s assets and drawbacks.
@Biophosphoradelecrystalluminescence
What’s the “adele” bit in the middle mean? Is that your real name or have I a gap in my scientific terminology knowledge? 😀
I did google Ye Thuza AND Myanmar’s Most Wanted.(won’t let me post links I guess. Oh well, you guys can google it yourselves if you like.)
Ye Thuza turned up nothing about Ye Thuza here, save for this comic itself. Top link was for some Burmese music videos.
Myanmar’s Most Wanted turned up some global news, of which the top story was Myanmar banning chants during some sort of election process. Myanmar is apparently very strict on these things.
Ye Thuza would be an awesome mom… Although I quite honestly am either envious of or afraid for her husband, if you know what I mean. >:D
H&K Mark 23 (one with laser pointer thingy)
to be able to get firearms here you need to get license 1st
that employs extensive psychology tests and handling firearms course
Did Cloud’s mom shoot him to test out a bullet proof vest? And then go out for sundae’s and bowling?
@ someone,
dankeschoen freund, that was a very polite and well spoken answer, and i enjoyed reading it. if my german is not quite correct please forgive me, i speak it very little and badly. you’re right, it is a difference in cultures in many ways. we began as a frontier culture in a hostile land, having to fight for the land we wanted to settle on, and we always looked to see what was beyond the next hill. our heros were, and still are the rovers and long hunters, like daniel boone and kit carson, our sagas are of the wagon train settlers, going west at a few miles a day for months to find land to live on. those days are history now but that spirit still is with us. i’ve driven a heavy truck, a tractor-trailer, the full length of “interstate 80” an autobahn type road, from the east coast to the west coast, crossing the rocky mountains and many times going along 60 to 70 mph i thought of those old pioneers taking weeks to cover lands that i crossed in only hours, a trip that i made in 6 days took them months, and that history is still deep in our psyche as a people, and the guns we hunted and sometimes fought with are there too.

i very much doubt it, that would get her brought up on a very long list of charges, “reckless endangerment”, “assault with a deadly weapon”, “child abuse” even “attempted murder”. anyone seeing her attempting something so foolish at a range would put her face down on the ground and call the police immediately.
[…] Sandra And Woo is one of the first few web comics that I came upon my discovery of online comics. Its about a girl with her pet raccoon and the adventures they go through. It has many great heart touching moments with some good old classic humour and it carries a message too, to all who read it. Its definitely something for all ages to enjoy. […]
Sooo…. everyone seems unable to take it in a lighthearted fashion. A little touchy when it comes to guns aren’t they? Guns are dangerous and all, but this isn’t the place to tirade about your shooting range and all the safety stuff, noones taking your guns away from you. Crazy fans…
My hatred of your fans will not stop me reading what is a fun, well written webcomic.
Yeah, I don’t get it either, James… and the googling for things that are almost certainly made up… but hey. Internets. It happens.
