The current story arc started with this strip: Hit-Boy.
Why did he do that? This will be shown later, … sort of.
- Nigel O’Sullivan: Cool costume, Mrs. Williams. Did you make it yourself?
- Ye Thuza: Yes, I did. We’re planning on going to the New York Comic Con this fall.
- Nigel O’Sullivan: You too? My daughter Jessie wants to go as Toph from Avatar. Her new life goal is to create a chasm that swallows Mr. Shamalamadingdong whole.
- Ye Thuza: She has the support of all of us.
- Brandon: That’s enough, you freaks! Now let me go!
- Nigel O’Sullivan: Ha, you wish!
- Brandon: I said LET! ME! GO!
- Nigel O’Sullivan: AARGH
- Ye Thuza: BAHAMUT ONE!

Oh dear, aggravated assault and battery with deadly force on an armed and uniformed police officer in active duty?
I think he just added 5 or 10 years to his sentence.
wow..I feel called in cause ;p
Yeah while the other thing may have been a joke the knifing of a cop is definitely going to be a big issue…
ouch, possession and use of narcotics might get you a slap on the wrist. possession of an illegal concealed weapon, and then attacking an officer with it….. yeah he’s not walking out of jail for a long time
haha, I can’t pronounce or spell Shyamalan either.
I’m gonna assume Novil and Powree were just as disappointed in Avat…. er… The Last Air Bender as I was.
On that note, it should have been called by it’s original name. The movie “Avatar” should be renamed “Pocahontas and the Giant Blue Smurfs”
Bad move Brandon, especially after you’ve seen what Ye Thuza is capable of…
Everyone wants to ninja the update at midnight, eh?
But yeah, Brandon’s doomed. :3
…holy crap, I was not expecting that. o_O
While he would have gotten off for the drug charge because of illegal search, he’s sure to get thrown in jail for a good long time for stabbing a freaking police officer.
And he’ll probably get a boot to the face courtesy of Cloud, as well.
That was a slip-up on the officers move. He should have read Bradon’s rights then handcuffed him before engaging in civil talk. Luckily the stab was a non-fatal in the shoulder, but he’s gonna be feeling that for a while.
Nah it’s just that I’m in the middle of the Persian Gulf doing the night shift on a Total platform and the job I’ve to do is on stand-by waiting for the other guys to finish their part ^^
judging by the type of knife he’s using he should have spycrabed his way out of there.
Talking about the new Avatar movie makes me want to stab people too. It’s a normal reaction.
This is at least aggravated assault. It COULD be considered attempted murder.
If it is, he’s doing life if he’s convicted.
So… At first I was like “wait… so… he’s apparently an orphan selling drugs to support his brother… and his life has now been ended… and this is funny?” But, being from inner-city FtLauderdale, bad things happening to cops who think arresting people is funny always resonates with me…
…so ha ha. 😐
Brandon is going up the river for a while … if he is LUCKY! He has just stabbed a police officer, if he is not very lucky and/or he tries it on the next one to contact him, he may end up with lead poisoning. Then again, maybe he’ll just get tased instead of shot – if his luck holds out.
@ryuzhin; You are correct. The officer did let his guard down – the suspect SHOULD have been patted down for weapons AND handcuffed (especially after finding the knife). Fortunately, Officer O’Sullivan’s good-luck fairy was working overtime tonight.
A previous comment (or several) were made about this poor, misguided juvenile being corrupted by putting him in jail. It may be too late. He’s a drug user, a drug pusher and has no regard for human life (that knife could’ve easily been fatal in any of several spots). Ah, this arc is certainly bringing out the law enforcement/military side of me.
Excellent arc Powree & Oliver! This is making people THINK and TALK. Plus you’re doing an excellent job with your action sequences.
Every avatr fan, every Avatarted persono out there hate the guts of M.Night “Ridiculous Endings” Shamawacko, I even heard that Zhao is not in the movie! my favourite character is Aang and Mai, but toph is alritgh I guess….
Any way I know bahamut is an invocation (the mos powerfull) in all the final fantasy games (III to XI at least) ¿But why Ye tuza said Bahamut One? ¿What that means?
Bahamut: a vast fish that supports the earth in Arabian mythology.
Honestly I have no idea.
Oh wait, Bahamut is also a draconic diety from Dungeons & Dragons, so that might be closer.
@Gerardo Tejada: Zhao indeed have his place in the movie, but we got cut his fight between him and Zuko, and even his death by Koizilla becomes the lame death ever, suffocated by some unnamed Waterbender. You should watch this movie if you want to go on rampage :))
His Dragon deity version was taken whole-hog for the various final Fantasys, where he is a summon (usually the strongest in terms of straight damage dealt). In particular, FF7 had like three versions of him. So it’s a cooler code name than “Emerald Weapon” or something.
Well, I guess you could say that…
*puts on sunglasses*
he has a stabbing personality.
YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
Well, it’s not certain the weapon was illegal, and he really didn’t have even that much to worry about on the drug charge, because it was definitely an illegal search and seizure…
this will end badly for him
I’m guessing he’s in deep kimchee now. Stupid kid. Eagerly awaiting the next installment.
…He’s running from a kid that knows how to use any blade, even a plastic knife, with frightening efficiency and a woman who is a rebel that had said kid go through a ton of training
Yeah, luck would be him tripping and giving up upon realizing that he stands no chance
OH! :O
I swear when I saw panel 5 I could CLEARLY hear the old “Batmaaan!” theme with it’s fightink soundeffects and Nana-nana-nana-nana in the back. XD
The action is building up, can’t wait to see the next. 😀
Apart from the costumes (as cool as they are) it’s nice to see people aren’t complaining about the real turn this comic is taking, I for one think it’s good to see a serious…if slight surreal side to a good webcomic, doesn’t always happen these days
@RockstarRacoon: I agree, the cop is… kind of a jerk in the first place. I mean normally I like this comic but even at first glance this current arc didn’t come off as all that funny. Now that you have pointed out the full implications (not sure if that’s an appropriate word here) it seems even less so. That’s not to say I don’t like the arc, in fact it’s one of my favorite so far. I just fail to see the comedy in the situation, not since they left the hospital.
— merge of double post —
Sorry for double posting but I would like to clarify, I’m not talking about the situation as a whole. Even the small jokes here and there I found myself unable to laugh at because of the current situation.
In his defense, he stabbed him in the ARM, so that’s not DEADLY force.
Still, he’s screwed, yeah.
Someone’s seen Airbender, and is none too impressed. She has MY support!
Seriously, how do you screw up Avatar? Night found a way….
Bahamut One huh? sounds interesting. I like how she used that for whatever she is trying to do whether she is trying to point out something or if it is an attack pattern.
well i would get scared if someone tryed to hit me with summon
technically it still is lethal force by a legal stand point, he has the means(knife), desire(thinks he is going to jail), and oppurtunity, to hurt someone significantly and permantly. your authorized to respond in up to like force to defend yourself or someone else.
the fact is a stab wound to an arm can kill a person, and even if not kill the person a stab with a 4 inch blade (minimum of length of blade to this blade from appearances) to the arm will take him off the streets for a few weeks if not several months.
major note: there is a major blood vessal in the arm that if slashed can kill a man due to blood loss in 25 seconds. part of the reason you never pull a knife out of a wound unless you know what your doing.
That was….unexpected!
I’m now VERY curious to know where this arc goes!!!
Toph and Sokka were the best charas in Avatar: The cartoon serie, followed very closely by Zuko.
And yeah, the Avatar: last Airbender movie was really, really sad to watch.
I wonder if Toph will even be blind in the next movie, that is if they will make a second one after all.
I´m surprised by this serious turn in SaW, but i can´t wait to see the next one with the pursuit, hope it will be Batman-like. XD
Bahamut One? Is that like “Attack Pattern Alpha?”
rofl noone of you played Final Fantasy? Bahamut is a summon in most if not every part of FF. One of the strongest usually (tough Doomtrain and Cactuar from FF8 are still my favourite xD).
“Her new life goal is to create a chasm that swallows Mr. Shamaladingdong whole.”
Lots of people feel that way. Lots.
On the plus side, I read that Nickelodeon green-lighted an animated sequal series to their Avatar: tLA series. Brandon can watch it on TV from juvi. 😉
There is the possibility that the kid was set up. If Ye Thuza and Nigel are working together, I could see their plan was to “scare the kid straight.” Any officer who really wanted to arrest Brandon would have had him in handcuffs last comic.
I’m basing this theory off these observations: Cloud knows Brandon as his friend’s brother; Cloud has seen the other kid with Brandon partaking of the drugs; neither Cloud nor Ye Thuza are timid about doing something they feel is right.
Unfortunately, Brandon panicked and stabbed Nigel. He’s going away for a long time.
Ryuzhin
I don’t know about Germany or other countries, but I recall that you only need to read out their rights if they plan to interrogate someone. They don’t need to do that if they are just arresting someone.
As for illegal search, isn’t that only for home search?
Bahamuttone, what is a Total Platform? Oil or military? And what would be your job there if everyone could keep up?
Poor misguided child, what would have been a slap on the wrist and a mandatory drug treatment program is going to be jail time with a bad felony wrap attached. As far as illegal search and seizure I don’t think that was a problem. He was acting uneasy, showing signs of mental imbalance (gunshot that didn’t happen and running from what he called SUPERHEROES) and I am betting he smelled like pot. That is enough for probable cause in the US. But the line about how much jail time was a joke in bad taste for that moment.
I’ve actually spent a lot of time reading weapons, assault and rights laws.
The weapon Brandon used is a switch blade. I actually own several. They are legal in my state, but the next state over they’re illegal to even be transporting. I find that odd because i can carry my guns on me but I can’t even have a switch blade in my trunk. I don’t know what state S&W is supposed to set in, so I can’t say either way on that.
In the US attempted murder is any failed attempt killing or an attempt/commission to inflict grievous bodily injury with a deadly weapon. Or to clarify if you attack someone with the intent to hurt him very badly, and you use a weapon it can be filed as attempted murder. So depending on how this officer feels about the whole thing it could come out as battery or attempted homicide. Either way Brandon better get used to bars.
The US fourth amendment protects against “Unreasonable” searches and seizures. The courts define reasonable as any action that a person of normal ability might take under the same circumstances.
As Maark30 said, he had run away, was on edge, attempting to hide something and most likely smelled like pot. Add on top of it the fact that they were in a dark alley way, I know that reasonably I could say that he had some pot on him, and that he was either intending to sell or buy, though from what we’ve seen of the strip it was neither.
Over all, Brandon has stepped in it. If he had attacked the officer further or had gone after Ye Thuza or Cloud he could have gotten acute lead poisoning.
And while I’m posting, I didn’t see the Last Air Bender thingy. When I looked at the cast list and they had Suki (a good, but minor character) cast but not Toph (A strong, major character) I knew it probably wasn’t worth my money.
You have is wrong, Avater is not “Pocahontas and the Giant Blue Smurfs” it is “Furn Gully 3D, now without Tim Curry and Robin Williams”
The M. Night Shyamalan version of Avatar is like “The Boy in the Iceberg” by “The Ember Island Players” for real.
Policeman got what he deserved for playing with the kid – and ignoring all procedures, that are there for a reason. Now we see that reason clearly, don’t we?
@Theodore OMG man don’t give him ammo hat movie was so bad having him watching that will be like loading a pistol with rockets not to henchmen he will lose brain cells
@Theodore: *covers eyes* Aah! Spoilers!
The movie doesn’t come out here for another two weeks! >.<
Brandon's gonna get in trouble for that one! O.O
Tsk tsk on the officer not getting that brat in cuffs. Job first, gossip second!
What? For real? o.o
Care to give a link to this great news, please?^g^
