The winners of the Webcomic List Awards 2010
Yesterday, the winners of the Webcomic List Awards 2010 were announced. Webcomic creators and other people involved in comics were asked for their favorites; the winner of each category was then established by a panel of judges, including for example John Allison of Scary Go Round, among the webcomics that received the most nominations.
Here are the winners of each category:
- Red’s Planet by Eddie Pittman
- Scenes from a Multiverse by Jonathan Rosenberg
- Bug by Adam Huber
- The Abominable Charles Christopher by Karl Kerschl
- Dresden Codak by Aaron Diaz
- The Abominable Charles Christopher by Karl Kerschl
- Romantically Apocalyptic by Vitaly S. Alexius
- xkcd by Randall Munroe
- Cleo of Cleopatra in Space! by Mike Maihack
If you have a webcomic website of your own, it would be nice if you could write a news entry about the award ceremony. The TWCL Awards are currently the only general webcomic award with additional categories other than “Best Webcomic” (which exists for example as part of the Ignatz Awards or the Harvey Awards). I believe it is important to spread the word about quality comics.
Hmm. HMM and HMM again. Red’s Planet? That gets a big ‘Really?’ from me. Delighted to see Abominable pick up two awards though, and that the writing in XKCD got recognised (as it seems to be getting a lot of mocking in the pop-cynicism circles online lately).
Next year to be Sandra & Woo’s year!
Woh, I thought Lackadaisy would’ve grabbed the art award. But Abominable is great too!
