smells like trouble… aaand a little like gunpowder, but mostly like trouble
Woo: Grandpa?
Hunter: I doubt very mu…
Woo: I was talking to the bonet.
Very interesting arc, almost a game of catch: who will find who first. Can’t waut for the next one
I don’t suppose that from his hat, we could say that he’s already got one raccoon and therefore doesn’t want another?
(Insert villain musical score here).
he doesn’t look very menising to me
i hope sandra find woo, before she see the bonet
Don’t worry, right now he’s hunting for
*evil glare*
The Easter Bunny!
dun dun dunnnnnnn!
@ AckAckAck:
haha
Oh, isn’t that just perfect!
Log cabin? Fine. Mounted deer? fine. Loaded shotgun? Fine. Coonskin cap? Now that’s just asking for trouble
O…M…G…he’s wearing Woo’s cousin.
Be vewy vewy qwiet. I’m hunting wacoons. Huhuhuhuhu! (Or however you’d spell that laugh)
Do people really wear fur…stuff when hunting? Only murderers I know go out dressed in camo…though I guess we needed to peg this guy as SRSLY BAD early on. xD
Wait, Raccoons don’t need to be shot. Neither do eagles.
I think he’s going to save our heroes from something that’s hunting them (Dangit Larissa, why’d you have to throw something at it?)
Oh, dear, things just got REAL. This calls for a dramatic sting!
DUN DUN DUUUN!
Good use of the silent cartoon.
And speaking of being silent, I’m liking the new comment layout. It does seem to be cutting back on the negativity. I hope it works out.
Whoah-whoah-whoah! What happened to the comment section? Why did it get hidden so much? O_o”
Oh boy, pls not a racoon hat! D:
Raccoons…..good eats!
I wonder if I’m right. This fellow isn’t after ‘coon. He’s after Eagle. And It’ll just get under Woo’s fur enough that he’ll turn about and help the Eagle defend it’s remaining egg, with the Trio showing up just in time to bring him down. In the US Eagles like this are protected species, might even still be Endangered (can someone clarify that?)
If he had a really silly lizard sidekick with him, it’d be Rescuers Down Under. Which is a totally awesome movie. 🙂
@ Wolfen: I think it’s “eh eh eh ehehehe”
Come on guys. Just because he’s wearing a coon skin cap, that doesn’t make him Ted Nugent. I mean it could be fake coon skin. And, and I am being way too optimistic, about this guy not being as gun crazy as Yosemite Sam. Well insert evil orchestra sting, in panel three then.
Sorry, I meant panel four.
@Frank
That would actually be a rifle.
And, out of curiosity, why does everyone here think this guy is evil?
He may not be evil, but Woo isn’t wearing a tag.
Maybe it’s a pellet gun?
*rifle fires*
Wait. nevermind.
@ altoid55:
That’s not funny… until you look at your avatar. ^^
a hunter??…that’s no good….
day-vee! davy crockett! king of the wild frontier!
your all jerks and have turned my mood sour
@ altoid55:
In what way? If you’re referring to the negative ratings your comment got, I’m guessing that’s mainly because you misspelled “menacing”. No, I didn’t rate you down; I’m just saying.
Though you actually do have a good point – he doesn’t look evil or anything at all. In the context of Woo being a potential target to him, yes, he would automatically start off as a “bad” person. But if you think about it, in the real world he’d just be a normal person. He doesn’t look mean; he instead seems rather lonely, and his eyes don’t make him look like he’s going out for his own enjoyment. It seems more like he’s only hunting for food, because he expression is more of him just “doing what he has to do”.
Of course, there’s no telling until the next strips. However, the idea that he’s not hunting for sport (at least at this time) is still plausible without giving him no reason to be in the strip, as Greg pointed out:

I’m glad to see comments back! I thought Novil pulled a Brooke McEldowney and took of the commenting permanently!
Also, is it just me or does the old man (if he had a voice, OK! its the voice in my head but anyway) sound like the old man from the Simsons? Not Grampa Simpson!
@ Bucc-i:
Hans Moleman..?
Looks like someone else heard that bear too
I wish to appeal to you, Knorzer and Powree.
As nature conservationists, I do indeed hope that you know that human hunting, when done properly within the law, is a typically natural thing that we do as omnivores that we would not fault other carnivores for doing. Hunting can even help keep populations at a sustainable level so that an area is not overgrazed by a certain species (although it’s very up to debate on if, left to their own devices, animals will actually de-balance the natural ecosystem in their natural state).
If this man is a poacher, i well ask you to give this man all the pain he deserves, but if he is merely doing hunting within the law, he is technically another predator, which you two have in your past strips portrayed as either protagonists or simply a natural part of the ecosystem. But please, do not villainize hunters merely because they are humans that do what carnivores and omnivores do less efficiently in the wild. White washing such a role is something worthy of radical PETA cells which, considering your collective knowledge of conservation and environmentalism, would hopefully be above.
Please respect law-abiding hunters if this new character is one.
Sincerely
T.S.Millar
DUN-DUN
@ T.S.Millar:
Honestly, the character has yet to be disrespected in any way. As I mentioned above, he was not depicted in the way a stereotypical “bad guy” hunter might be in fiction. He does not have a stone-cold heartless face, nor does he have the smirk of a cruel sadist. His expression seems to be that of a normal person, almost a little lonely. Powree already hasn’t given him anything that would make him inherently seem evil – the only thing that would lead readers to believe he’s bad news (besides the fact that he’s a hunter and our protagonists include animals) is the hat.
Even that cements absolutely nothing: Sandra and/or her father also own a coonskin cap, but they certainly aren’t antagonists or raccoon haters. Bearing in mind the many clever things Knörzer has pulled in the past, and the general explicit defiance of the stereotypical conventions which appear in most cartoons, I don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about. At any rate, this certainly wouldn’t be the first time the comic pulled a twist and subverted expectations. Seeing as that would make this story arc far more interesting than just “oh, random hunter to make things more complicated for Woo”, and this comic is pretty well written and planned ahead, I’m betting the hunter isn’t going to be an antagonist.
Of course, for now, there’s really not enough information to tell just where this will go – all we can do is speculate. Fortunately, there will be three strips this week instead of the usual two, so we get a little closer to learning exactly what Knörzer and Powree have in store for us :p
I was going to say “Oh shoot.” but it suddenly dawned on me how wrong that was. XD
@ firedome:First thing that came into my mind when I saw that cap was that song! lol
In America and Canada there are people like this who still hunt and trap animals for food and fur.Regardless of how some people see this it is in the end no more cruel than what happens to the animals that end up on your table. I for one have no plans to give up eating meat so I can’t find hunting evil just unnecessary. I will not call it a sport though because it hardly sporting.
Constructive criticism (if I was a hater, I wouldn’t read this regularly…) – but the gun looks twisted to me. Check the parallels on the trigger and the body of the gun. Maybe it’s the wood grain throwing my eye off, but I don’t think so.
@Admin
it looks ilke a well wriitten article to me. It is quite informative and should be shared to all. Can I share it in Facebook?
be very very quiet guys, his hunting bunny wabbits.
If that is a shotgun (which it looks like due to hinge and size/shape of the barrel) then it would most likely NOT have a scope on it…
Clearly it is now Waccoon Season.

I don’t know where you get camo from, this guy isn’t wearing any, just a shooting vest. Also, I would object to your statement that only murderers wear camo. Lots of people wear camo without being murderers.
SRSLY BAD? So…
Animals killing animals: Just fine.
People killing animals: OMGWTFBBQ EVIL!!1!
Is that what you’re saying?
Life is full of surprises, but never when you need one.
