Maybe they just want to play fetch?
Dear See-o-ahtlah-ma-kas-kay, let Woo live.
Dear See-o-ahtlah-ma-kas-kay, what the hell that means?
Related to this: http://english.boisestate.edu/mfa/files/2010/12/Monk.doc?
used by Aztecs, but probably borrowed from another trib:
see-o-ahtlah-ma-kas-kay (cioatlamacasque) = she who talks with spirits
According to Virginia Holmgren’s, Raccoons: In Folklore, History, and Today’s Backyards
See-o-ahtlah-ma-kas-kay (Cioatlamacasque)- is the name used in Aztec Mexico for Raccoons.
It means: she who talks with spirits
somebody certainly looks optimistic…. speaking of which given the shear amount of injuries I would assumed woo to be hunched over in pain, shoulders up head down, heard turn mouth open. in some cases body language is important to illustrate fear. the facial expression is good in the las panel but his body language is counterintuitive.and it needs more “sweatles” and an exclamation point.

Raccoons are quite tough. These wounds did not bother one all too much for example: http://www.sandraandwoo.com/images/misc/wounded-paw-02.jpg
Well, guess they should have named it the valley of violence…
Though it’s beautiful! I’d love to see this in colour.
…It could be worse. It could’ve been a bear. XD

Ouch.
Well raccoons are nimble, aren’t they? HE could dive in a hole or something and hopefully wait it out or something.
Just don’t say “It couldn’t get any worse” or “Things could be worse”. Then you’ll be fine. Say anything along those lines, and you’ll regret it.
Oh censored.
Woo….now you know the first law of the universe..I’ll teach you the second one…
never say something with
“it could be worse” “it can’t get any worse” or “please let it be” “I hope it’s…”
there is a 90% chance that you are going to regret….
praying was a bad idea. because god has a sick sense of humor.
Crazy hunter saves the day… only to throw poor Woo in a cage and try to force him to talk. Then Sandra and company have to get creative.
Woo: Today’s not my day…
Wolf: Actually, it is, as you can see, we have this special offer for you, for only 12 easy payments you can get this…
Woo: Oh See-o-ahtlah-ma-kas-kay! they are SALESME…. I mean SALESWOLVES!
And by creative I mean the rescue comic will really deserve the name ‘Limit Break’ impressing Larisa properly. Well, replace Limit with Law and it’ll probably be more accurate. Larisa will still be impressed.
“See-o-ahtlah-ma-kas-kay is DEAD!” -Nietzsche
@ Draccoon:
have to admit, that is a much cooler word for raccoon than “one who washes hands” but also much longer to write/say.
What I said previously about this arc giving Woo a permanent phobia about anything to do with the wild…these are now just nails for that coffin.
Aw man… Not wolves as bad guys… Why do they always have to be the bad guys? *starts crying*
@ Bucc-i:
So is Nietzsche but it has been proven that prayer has been shown to be a factor in the most desperate of survival situations
i dont mean to be a troll, but i wish to say wolves dont act like this. i find this a little insulting, as i’ve dedicated 6 years to studying wolf behavior. they are cooperative and caring, and will occasionaly form bonds with other species(like racoons). they are very sweet, and will never kill more than they need. the kind of behavior portrayed here is very rare, and if it was to happen at all it was probably triggered by the death of a pack mate. again, i dont mean to be a troll, but this is important to me. just because our ancestors would start to pass rumors about the strange creatu as well as they are re that ate a sheep, which eventual lead to tales like little red riding hood does not mean that they are completely evil.(but then again, this comic has squerrel and foxes as friends, so i guess this isn’t that wierd
I’d say he should run for it, but that would only provoke them. :[

So according to you, who has studies wolves for 6 years, they do not rustle and come out of bushes?
Because no other characteristics have been shown as of yet..
@ wolvesrawesome:
Wolves are predators, predators eat meat, and they see a nice, juciy, injured meat, hungry predators = Juicy meat gone!
Well… Murphy’s law is tightening the belt. Let’s see how Woo gets out of this one!
Is it just me or did the other racoon set him up and this is a case of mistaken identity?
i loooooooooooooooooove these comics sooooooo much, marathoned them yesterday, also the entire FMA manga series, and workin on the FMA brotherhood show series. y’know it plays at 1 and 5 ocolck on cartoon network in adult swim? awesome. i wish these comics posted more often.
For the love of all that is fluffy!
Woo!!! Don’t run. You can talk. Use that ability. Wolfies listen! They’re just big fluffy feral puppies!
@ wolvesrawesome:
they might end up being his friends too
Alpha Wolf: “The Eagle sent us.”
im calling it right now. Woo shall be saved by the hunter.
Normally a single wolf would not attempt to eat a raccoon as they are large enough and fierce enough to hold their own. Which is why coon dogs hunt in packs. But wolves are opportunists and will attack and kill wounded or lame animals. He is just being a wolf not evil. Part of the predators job is to eliminate sick or weak individuals which makes the herd stronger. Humans do the exact opposite by hunting the biggest most healthy game (trophy) and we end up with weak and unhealthy populations of prey animals. Humans are far more evil than a wolf will ever be. Most “man-eating wolves” turn out to be dog-wolf hybrids that have no fear of man (they happen in nature too).
My understanding is that raccoon bodies are mostly fat on the part protecting their spinal column and that their bodies are mostly cartalege(SP?). Also, I’ve heard they can fit into narrow openings as big as their heads like a cat… maybe woo will get lucky and discover the wolf is on a diet. Plus they are they only creatures other than humans to have omni directional thumbs… I’m also sure not all of this information is accurate since I didn’t look it up on wikipedia or google.
Potentially Not wolves, could be coyotes. Anyways, wherher its by intention or not the shadowing/marking on the first one looks like it got beaned in the head by a cellphone.

(to quote an old joke)
Okay what was that just now that Woo said? Kinda funny, but still. XD
Streching your luck, most arcs have at least one joke with that. That’s not a prob though. 😀
Mostly I’d like to mention that long-term fans are still around – months upon months of not having the internet have gotten in the way, yes, but nevertheless.
Great work over the last few months between artist and author and dear heavens keep it up.
@ Passerby:
That makes sense actually.
Somedays. . . it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed or leave the house. Sadly on those days not leaving the bed/house doesn’t usually help much. . .
Woo just has the worst luck.
Just realized…after I had read all of them of course…that Larisa has Diabetes, type 1 I hope since that is the only one that takes shots. but she was feeling DOWN not stomach hurting which would need her to take the shot, basically she took a shot and just made herself go down MORE. I have type 1 diabetes…
You think this is bad? At least he’s not up against the Mecha-Drogo.
I have been reading each and everyone of these for the past 2 hours on a slow connection…..for this end…. NOOOOOOO, dnt u wana update like …every hour? lol in love with this comic <3
@ Yeah I would bet real money that most you people had to look that up like me and are trying to sound smart
@ Mugen-Jin:
you know I have my suspiscions about what the heart shape actually represents, because I know for a fact it looks noting like the organ that secretes molecules of emotion and more like the one that secretes sperm… which is also why you shouldn’t drink lake water, you know because frogs jump in there. wink wink
Not my day seems like an understatement…
Yay gamesman! 😀
