[0308] Disappointing Bonus Weapon
└ posted on Thursday, 15 September 2011, by Novil
Games with fire spells in them are okay too.
- Cloud: … And in the next room I finally found the secret bonus weapon!
- Larisa: The flamethrower?!
- Cloud: No. Not a flamethrower.
- Larisa: Ahh, silly me! The flamethrower is, of course, already part of the standard equipment!
- Cloud: Uhm… no. There is no flamethrower in “Deus Ex: Human Revolution”.
- Larisa: Why would anybody ever want to play a game without a flamethrower in it?
What Larisa doesn’t know is that the flamethrower was excluded for the same reason a star athlete wouldn’t be allowed to participate in the children’s league. It’s just that powerful.
I must say that I find no fault in her logic here.
I’m calling it: Larisa’s favourite game = Resident Evil. Who can resist Flamethrowers, grenade launchers with flame ammunition and self-destruct mechanisms? and countless zombies to test them all on.
I love the look on her face in the third panel. She’s right of course. No flamethrowers + No Fire spells = No fun. 😉
Yet another reason why the original is much better.
I have so many fond memories of toasting marshmallows with a flame thrower.
What are you talking about, L? There’s plenty of good games without flamethrowers.
Crash Bandicoot, Rayman, Sly Raccoon, Spyro the Dragon…
Wait, does the last one count?
I’m siding with Larisa on this.
Before anyone else: Larisa’s favorite class in TF2 is the Pyro.
Of course. But I’m the first! HA!
EVERY game has flamethrowers in it when Larisa plays. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Don’t you know every thing’s better with Fire!
…but…but…. you can’t spell: Deus Ex: Human Revolution without flamethrower!!!
…
wait a minute
….
well…. you need those letters to spell it!
Is it me or I always imagined Cloud’s hair colour to be blue-greyish-silver?
Not till the DLC content hits anyways.
Ah Larisa, our favorite pyromaniac at it once again. Though knowing her she’d just use a real flamethrower on the TV when playing the game, digital fire wouldn’t seem like enough to her imo.
I concur, fire is teh awesome.
Larisa makes pyromania surprisingly cute. How does she do that?
You can blow things up. Does that count? Oh! And the burning cars. Can’t forget that!
I’m sorry larissa but the Organic Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator and the Overwatch Standard Issue Pulse Rifle are still better O_O!
Honestly… Why is Larissa thinking so small?
Look up the “Fougasse” – in a nutshell, it’s an anti-tank mine that works by spewing 55 gallons of napalm straight upwards and melting through the bottom of tanks, while splashing everybody else who is unfortunate enough or foolish enough to be in the general vicinity. 😀
No flamethrowers! That can’t be! No game is complete without one! Who wouldnt want to toast stuff with a flamethrower! And who would wanna play a game without one as well? …… Wait….. I think mostly anyone…. Anyway, its a nice strip. I love the colors 😀 I just have to agree with Larisa on this as well.
I bet she love playing team fortress 2
every shooting game needs a flame thrower, after all, there are very few things better than a flame thrower (none that exist in REAL LIFE)
Wait!
Isn’t Deus Ex rating 17+?
@DancingMoon: So what you’re saying is, you’re American?
How about Super Mario Bros.? Do Fire Flowers count? XD
@ Lox:
What has that got to do whit American?
And I’m not
I never thought that flame throwers are THAT good in games. It’s fun to play with them, but I don’ find them useful… or rather how silly is that if a flamethrower hits someone in a game he doesn’t just get burned? :p
@ ekimmak:
youforget that you play a DRAGON in spyro so yes in that game YOU are the flamethower
Before I play a game, I always make sure it has the option to set things on fire.
@ Deo:
There’s no ‘F’ or ‘W’.
Larisa is right, fire rules Butthead… IT RULES! heh heh *snort*
To all those who put flamethrowers as the top weapon of choice, I can only concur if you are fighting Zombies and other melee type opponents.
In counterpoint all I need mention is a 50 cal sniper rifle + API + Fuel tank = BBQU
That equation is never good but funny to watch 😉 through a scope.
Yet what she doesn’t know is that there are exploding rounds for the revolver in the game 😉
she must love to play the pyro on TF2
Hah, she should go as Ripley (Aliens outfit) for Halloween!
Larisa should play Fallout 😀
I think it has multiple kinds of flamethrowers… kinda…
@ Dubba:
yes me too^^
and they somehow look older now 🙂
@ Ellert0:
Personally I found the wrist bow the most overpowered weapon, in the original game. You could go the first four levels without killing anyone or being found out either.
Don’t know if it’s in DE:HR, as I’ve neither the money to buy it nor the computer to run it.
Woo! Larisa is back!
I agree with Larissa ^_^
woah ………SEND ME A COPY!!!@ GameCobra:
On topic, it reminds me of the old joke (very old): Flamethrowers? We don’t need no stinkin’ flamethowers!
Off topic: Who is doing the demographics on the side? The artist?
Lol, the first time I heard of Deus Ex Human Revolution was when UberHaxorNova played it.
Has she seen the flamethrowers in Fallout?
They suck sooooo much!
@ Someone:
Flamer,Incinerator,Heavy Incinerator, Fire Bombs, Incendiary Grenades, one gun has Incendiary ammo. Does that count?
@ Visitor106:
Amazing, you have no decency or respect for such a great comic strip creation team. You’re just doing this to spam. You’re don’t deserve to be allowed to post here.
@Visitor106 :
Erm, if you have a problem with the colored comics, politely state it. There’s no need to use profanity.
And what’s with the random terrorist comment?
It was bound to happen when the” vote” function was removed with no “FLAG as inappropriate” to replace it.
I am surprised it actually took this long for a redbull soaked prepubescent subterranean photophobic troll to raise its greasy pockmarked pizza packet slurping head and spew forth.

.
Hmmm, that almost sounds like something Sydney Scoville, Jr would say …. Ah the subliminal influence of webcomics =P
You know what would be epic. Seeing her play Team Fortress 2. 1 guess on which class she would play…
