- Woo: This answer can‘t be right.
- Sandra: Since when are you a math expert?
- Woo: Frankly, my dear, I have no idea what “(-3)³ – x = (-4.6)²” is, but I’m pretty sure it’s not “Sandy x Cloudy”.

At least Woo can understand math better than Hobbes.
So… x= -1204, am I right?
All Sandra need to do is to divide “Sandy <3 Cloudy" by zero.
There, problem sol
X =-48.16 but close.
This one shows us that Woo is fairly good at approximation and will do well in math elimination tests ,like the SATs.
Wondering if I should point out that (-4.6)^2 = (4.6)^2
Yeah, this probably isn’t the place.
Ah, good old fashioned “Find X” math problems. Hated those back in high school
@ ekimmak:
You might have learned that at some time, right? So Sandra has to learn that too.
Pffft, what do raccoons know about math?
@ ekimmak:
although an imaginary number would make a more interesting problem. WHY? why couldnt the 2 be a 1/2 instead?
Woo is right, the answer isn’t Sandy <3 cloudy.
it's Sandra<3 cloud.
you forgot to subtract the "Y"
X = -48.16
Maybe Sandra’s math teacher gives points for effort even if the answer is wrong.
Since when did he learn math?
(-3)³ – x = (-4,6)²
-27 – x = 21,16
-x = 48,16
x = -48,16
love the webcomic btw:P
BURN!
“Sandy <3 Cloudy" is entirely true and correct. It's the question that's wrong.
I believe that
X = (-48.16)
It’s -32.29, obviously, but it’s kind of a weird problem, isn’t it?
@ Brendan:
Wait… no, it’s -48.14.
I fail third grade. Good to know.
What the hell are all of you talking about? The answer is x = -51
Didn’t you guys know that a.b = “a multiplied by b” ?
woo may not be able to do math, BUT WOO SURE AS HELL CAN READ.
I love how everyone who commented attempted to solve the problem! Btw, Sandra’s eyes in the last panel freak me out…
Woo has gotten very good at reading
Also, hooray for the return of the voting buttons!
well…woo is not a math expert..but a mating expert…(or something close to that)….that’s why he knows that the answer is wrong…..
had sandra been around in the late 60’s she may have been thinking if the song, “Day Dreamin'” by aretha franklin…
Since I don’t feel like being smarticle like the rest and answering the question, I’ll just say that Woo must be pretty smart to have known what a negative and power is.
Maybe Woo isn’t so great at reading at all. Maybe he just remembers how much trouble little hearts can be from his delve into YouTube.
And, yes, the answer is -48.16. Good job, guys. I am giving you extra credit.
btw… if (-4.6) is (4 multiplied by 6) the answer would be -549
because 4×6=24 and 24² = 576
and since (-3)³ = 27… 576-27 = 549
and since it’s -x then the number must be negative to “add” so…. -549
xD
Wait… It’s not?
*Eraseeraseerase*
When did we get ratings back?
actually, it would be x = -603, as 576 – (-27) = 603.
math hurt brain AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the pain the pain lol

oh yeah, right…. with ³ it becomes negative again 😛
*remind itself to never do math again after play quake live*
Are you sure it doesn’t equal Sandy <3 Cloud? That's the answer I got as well!
Also
@Novil
YEAH! The thumbs up buttons are back! Heart click for you sir! EVERYBODY GETS A THUMBS UP FROM ME!
I am in 7th Grade (middle school) and we are introduced to Sqares and X now. Well. Carry on with the math problem of Sandy X Cloudy xD
Sandy <3 Cloud: Proof it, geometry style!
Your right Woo, She forgot to add Larisa to the equation
Ah, the Love Algorithms…
That’s actually Physics -if not even higher physics- as love is the most powerful gravity phenomenon that exists…
Always nice having a proofreader when the mind starts to wander.

sandra heart cloud club larisa?
Strange. I could subconsciously hear Woo’s vocal tone drop a whole three octaves by the last frame.
Think I shall vote that Woo read Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven for a Halloween special, perhaps around some kind of camp fire, with that level of communication.

As a mating expert he should know his multiplication quite well then 😉

Even though he is a Raccoon, he is one that can talk and quite eloquently at that. He also is able to use a computer to navigate the internet with the associated typing skills required. So what his skill set and competence levels are is still up for debate until such time as we get some conclusive proof one way or the other. Mind you he was able to read this higher level equation out correctly.

Physics is just math with props. 😉
Love =/=Gravity though there are similarities.
Gavitic force is proportional to the size of the masses involved, their relative inertia and the distance separating them.
Love is proportional to the size of the hearts involved and their similarities but is not affected by distance.
Sheesh …Physics and love in the same discussion …. I know something about one and still trying to figure out the other … :/
@ LilyC:
Indeed it would be (plus) 48.16
-x = -48.16
x = 48.16
Remember childs, teachers always love to correct even the most insignificant things XD… I really hate when mine did that DX
(-3^3)-x=(-4.6)^2
-3^3=-27
-4.6^2= 21.16
-x=21.16+27
-x=48.16
x=-48.16
this strip really brought out all the slightly nerdier readers

thing.
@ firedome:
Or “New Math” by Tom Lehrer…
@ Ravux:
yup Woo knows about Powers, especially the Power of LOVE
if you don’t know the answer just put down 42.
@ Argondr (guest):
(-3)³ = -27 and (-4,6)² = 21,16 and 21,16 – 27 = -5,84. -X= -5,84 (=) X=5,84
X= 5,84
