[0331] Fashion Tip I
└ posted on Monday, 5 December 2011, by Novil
I need four prizes for a Sandra and Woo “contest” of some sort in the new year. The prizes for the “places” 3 and 4 are supposed to be rather minor, the prizes for the “places” 2 and 1 should be quite nice. A single person could potentially win two or more prizes. I don’t really have any good ideas for the prizes yet, so I would be grateful for good tips. What would you like to win if you were one of the winners?
- Larisa: If Vogue is to be trusted, burqas are, like, totally out, Sandy.
Bucket helmet reminds me of my childhood… Anyone else?
Someone is a Calvin & Hobbes fan. 🙂 Wait, what am I saying? Who ISN’T a Calvin & Hobbes fan?
Personally, I’d like some prints! Maybe physical prints?
Larissa: You ended up in a burqa because of a raccoon?
Sandra: A radicalizing terror woodland raccoon!
Couldn’t resist! >:=)>
Lol, this reminds me of the snooze cloth, one of the “worst products of all time” nominees from the gruen transfer, It basically was a burka with nose holes instead of eye holes.
Sandra seems to have gotten taller or is that just the color or art evolution.
God job! Fashion isn’t my forte, but I’m sure burqua’s have been out since 15th century.
I want to complain about the solid black halftone pattern. I can understand why it would be necessary with a B/w image but I think it takes away from the image when it’s has been colored. For a good example of this read Daredevil Noir.
Isn’t there some other type of stippling pattern that could have been applied, perhaps one that seems less evenly spaced and more asymmetrical?
as prizes, go with some signed prints as 1, maybe a t-shirt and 2 prints for 2, and then get some random, mildly expensive thing+prints and shirt for 3, and an iPod or something of that nature and shirt+prints.
I have no idea what we’re looking for, but if it’s related to the comic, people definitely want something autographed.
Re prizes, it would be nice if one of them could be a plush Woo.
@ Tales of Shadow:
The characters are aging. Slowly, but it’s happening.
ugh… Mondays
Truly, Larisa has no sympathy at all. 😛
apparantly people age in bursts 🙂
Similar to a famous line by a semi-famous character:
“DEATH FROM ABOVE!”
@ Ryguy987:
If only I knew the comic Dominic Deegan was referencing, I would know what you’re talking about.
SNEAK ATTACK!
Reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes. Second Woo attack page, IIRC. First was from way early.
@ Fluffysama:
People who have no idea what Calvin and Hobbes is.
You ask, I answer.
I think a good idea for one of the prizes can be a little cameo of the winner in the comic. 🙂
I just realize the character are getting taller, they grow to? cool
People tend to forget that raccoons are dangerous wild animals. Thanks for reminding then Woo!
Pouncing only on tuesdays and thursdays!
@ ekimmak:
I meant that I used to use my bucket as a helmet… I don’t know who Calvin and Hobbes are…
ahah XD
Burqas are totally out! Remember Sandra! x)
where does sandra and woo take place?
When it comes to prizes from artists, I’m typically a fan of stuff like signed sketches. When you’re a fan of an artist, I think nothing really beats having the artist draw up something one-of-a-kind just for you. Doesn’t have to be particularly fancy, mind you, some of the coolest art prizes I’ve seen get awarded have been little more than a main character striking a cool pose or whatever.

First color pounce FTW :3

At first, I thought you wanted pants. Then I tried to figure out how you could have non-physiscal pants. Help.
First of all: Have been reading your comic for months now, and I love it. I just never felt like leaving a witty reply.
Second: I’m too tired to read through all the comments, so someone probably allready called it, but I’d LOVE a woo plushie.
Now I’m just going to check Edmund Finney’s Quest and then I’m off to bed. Keep up the good work 🙂
The bucket works, though. Keep that on.
For prizes, #1= Everyone likes to be famous, offer them a one time guest appearance in the comic with a print of that comic sent to them and autographed. #2= Not as glamorous, but a commision piece by you would make most people pretty happy. #3= a random pose by one of your characters, nothing fancy. #4= print of their favorite comic strip (assuming its not too big)
Woo: radical Islamic fashion desgner since 2008.
How’bout this:
4th place: you’re featured in a S+W stripe
3rd place: a sketch of your favourite S+W character (most likely saying “gratz”)
2nd place: original artwork of a single S+W strip (your choice)
1st place: your appearance in a S+W strip plus the original artwork for such strip
Back on today’s focus, i think woo needs some spanking right now
Personally speaking prize wise I would love a woo plush, or a print (i’m a sucker for character art).
I (personally) would love to have art of myself/my own character in the Sandra&Woo style?
Is it just me, or do they look a bit more grown-up ???
@ Sand Fox:
Well, I did know, so I shouldn’t be tarred and feathered. I’m just saying, that there will be people out there like that.
Isn’t This a reference to the comic Peanuts? Linus van Pelt (the child with the security blanket) was occasionally attacked by Snoopy and end up in a similar fashion.
Thursday this ain’t.
@ Ryguy987:
I can think of but one character who frequently utters those words… And they’re a talking cat by the name of Spark. I certainly hope that’s who you’re referring to. :3
@ Tfeth282:
Hmm… I seem to remember it being ‘Mondays’ and Thursdays… *smirk*
How about 1st and 2nd prizes are a million dollars and 3rd and 4th prizes are a piece of pizza?
Very pleased that their shorts are an appropriate length
Uuh, I’m no specialist, but I believe that Sandy’s “clothing” is resembling more a niqab instead of a burqa
@ Taylorf:
Complete with an annoying Susie-clone at the end.
Where’s the Calvin and Hobbes tag?

I just found this and thought I’d link it here 🙂
