Have you already read the news entry about the Sandra and Woo fanart contest 2012 (with prize money)?
- Sid: That’s the place where the wolf was shot by the…
- Sid: …
- Sid: … pine squirrel?!
- Ruth: Glad to see you show up. I just wanted to continue my journey.

I guess you could say that squirrel must have been a little nuts!
Wait, so did Shadow get the food? The sudden shift confused me, I at least expected to see Shadow’s “triumphant” return.
somehow the squirrel reminds me of dora the explorer
lol, I guess I wasn’t that far off. Also, please bring back the voting button.
It seems like that Squirell is a….
*glasses*
Gun nut

Wait.. Cute pine squirrel with a GUN?! Sid, buddy, I think if you play your cards well you might not end up like that this time 😉 http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2010/04/01/0151-spring-fever/
@ Var:
I think it’s for the sake of pacing. Next week we will get a new story or this will be about Sid and Pine.
………….
Is this the end for Sid’s loneliness? 😉
*Gasp*
Let’s have a look through the local and national laws… nope, nothing forbidding squirrels from operating firearms. The legal ramifications of her shooting that wolf are rather less clear. Least forgiving of all, though, are Newton’s laws: the recoil from that pistol should have knocked her into the middle of next week. Or the next life. I wonder how she managed. >:=?>
Nice little derringer you got there. Where do you hold it?

Remember, this is a comic strip with *TALKING* animals, at least one of which can communicate with humans.
That said, she could have propped it against the back of the tree cavity before taking aim and pulling the trigger. Also, RL squirrels are very strong for their size. They can lift their entire body’s weight with a single clawtip. Ever try to do a pull-up with one arm/hand? Now try it with just a single fingernail.
And I agree with others, it feels like we skipped a strip here. Oh well. It’s Powree’s tail…er…tale to tell as Powree chooses to.
And I hit send too soon. Should have said Oliver Knorzer in there too, not just Powree.
Shipping mode activated.
well, i guess if we have the right to arm bears, we can arm squirrels, too…

@ Moxie Man:
Chronologically, it feels like we missed something. But it would have been pretty much filler content. Bring food, and let squirrel go. Novil is good, but I can see why you’d skip over that part. It just doesn’t contribute anything.

“Vote” button never disappeared for me. (I use Firefox.) It’s about 8 inches down in the left-hand frame.
It’s the backpack.
Ok, I’m just gonna go ahead and ask. How did the squirrel get a gun up in the tree and get that good at sniping?
That is freaking awesome. I can’t wait to see how crazy ti gets with a freaking squirrel or, well, bigger squirrel runs around with a gun.
Heh, I think there’s a troll who’s busy downvoting everyone.
Aw… She’s a CUTIE!
Just spent the last five hours reading every slide of this webcomic. 😛
Woo is awesome. I’m addicted to this now. :3
That squirrel has a gun, any and all arguments are invalid.
Nobody expects
The Spanish InquisitionPine Squirrel!Wait, how did Sid get away? Something got skipped… O_o
Lucky for all parties involved that that gun wasn’t a Noisy Cricket.
…Da fuq? It’s an RPG squirrel! Closely related to the famed Jedi squirrel!

@ 52pickup:
That’s easy – she was carrinng the gun in her backpack while climbing the tree. And I guess she was practicing alot.
Hand gun + squirrel = WIN!
In Soviet Russia…. .Wait no, In AMERICA squirrel shoot you!

“Friend Citizen, you are not cleared for that information. Please report to the nearest extermination booth immediately.”
[Yes, that dates you and me, but I’m too lazy to go pull out the ref book to get the statement exactly correct. And I felt so sorry for the squirrel…]

It appears the hand gun in question (the name of the gun escapes me at this time) is a two shot (over & under) 22 magnum Derringer with very little recoil but it makes one hell of a bang when fired. ( I used to own one)
Ruth – “Its good to see you, in fact you’re….(sunglasses)….in the nick of pine!”
Yyyyyyeeeeeaaaaahhhhh!!!!
Ruth – “glad you could come, i was beginning to feel….(sunglasses)…..a little hollow!”

Ruth – “if you’d gotten here any later, I might have gone….(glasses)….a little nuts!”

I like how when the wolf was shot through the ear, I saw a commenter point out something along the lines of that the bullet was the completely wrong type of bullet for hunting, and looked more like the calibre that a pistol would fire, but dismissed it as a mistake saying that they wouldn’t expect a webcomic writer to know every detail such as that.
While I’m not a webcomic writer, or a gun expert at all, nor live in a nation where guns are often used, I can still tell the difference between a shot from a hunting rifle and a pistol, so I think the commenter was severely overestimating the complexity of knowing such a difference, but even so, I like how the foresight (and accuracy) shown in the webcomic.
Who else got Woo with the ‘LOOK’ sign pointing to the Cabela’s add?
I think it was the ‘hunting’ and ‘pine squirrel’ tags that did it.
We’ll it’s not like I expected a Pine Squirrel.
@ Bucc-i:
Her chief weapon is surprise … surprise and a pistol…
@ AckAckAck:
I think it might be clearer if you said “That was a corny joke!”
@ Celtia:
There was annother comment back there suggesting
that based on the angle, the hunter was in a tree!
Nice setup there 😀
@ Caracalla55:
This one has a single barrel; but, you’re right, it is a break-open derringer. 🙂
Iron Ed wrote:
Your 101% correct my friend, it is a single barrel I didn’t notice that until now.
Single barrels can be either 22 Mag or 38 cal (now the recoil of the 38 cal would most certainly knock poor Ruth onto her backside and across the room as well)
.
Thanks
i find it funny that every comment on this strip has been downrated atleast once. its like someone realy hates the place or something.
@ The_Davey: The Woo “Look” sign for me is pointing to an ad for Ancestry.com. I have been spending a lot of time there lately…
The choice of ads is usually related to your personal browsing history. For example, I had to search for totalizers at Grainger.com for a project at work. The next day the ads were not just for Grainger, but featured totalizers!
Back to the comic now: I agree that there is a lot of detail being put into these strips that is not apparent to us readers until much later! That is the mark of a true artist that is planning the whole thing well ahead.

Too bad she didn’t get lessons from Foamy, she could have done the same kind of damage with a thrown acorn.
