Larisa in the next panel: You’re dead to me.
There are four new polls that appear randomly in the right sidebar:
- What’s your attitude to hunting?
- What’s your attitude to eating meat?
- What’s your favorite Hayao Miyazaki movie?
- Have you ever used the social bookmark buttons below the comic transcript?
- Larisa: Sandy, we need to talk.
- Sandra: Yes?
- Larisa: I have to ask you a very personal question that’s been bothering me for a long time.
- Larisa: Our whole friendship might depend on your answer.
- Sandra: Oh dear, what’s the matter?
- Larisa: May I set fire to your phone?
- Sandra: No.
|
Is that even possible?
…now I’ll never know.
Burn it, it’s windows Mobile
I understand her. I wouldn’t want a friend that doesn’t let me burn his/her phone just because.
Will it void the warranty?
If Larisa doesn’t burn something every once in a while, she might get withdrawal symptoms
Sandra: “You may set fire to my tablet, though.”
•What’s your attitude to hunting? at least the meat that I get from hunting does not contain any artificial hormones!
•What’s your attitude to eating meat? as long as it doesn’t moo, baa or cluck at me, no problem!
•What’s your favorite Hayao Miyazaki movie?haven’t seen any yet
•Have you ever used the social bookmark buttons below the comic transcript?yep
re: burning the cell phone, if that is the only way to keep the person’s attention focused on you! then by all means, burn! Baby, burn!
Larissa: Friendship is Fire.
o_o The question is urgent, and it may indeed affect the balance of their friendship. I don’t think I’d describe it as being intensely personal, even if it has been preying on Larisa’s mind for a long time…
they could make a compromise…..are sandwhiches flammable
She needs a more constructive (hah!) outlet for her pyromaniacal urges.
I wonder if the Mythbusters will take a junior intern . . . On second thought, no, that’s a horrible idea. Her OTHER urges will probably get the show taken off the air and under investigation.
Pfft, Larisa, wouldn’t it be better to go to a phone store and burn those? There’s plenty of types to choose from. And, you could see which one burns best! Then you can…… *wait for it*……….
USE IT FOR A FUTURE SCIENCE PROJECT! 😀
Also, I LOVE Hayao Miyazaki’s movies. They’re a part of my childhood, and will stay there forever~
Sorry Larisa, but it looks like…
*glasses*
Sandra want to have a firewall.

Everything burns, it’s just a question of how long you have to put it in the microwave for.
Sandra’s Hotmail on her cellphone must not be hot enough if Larisa is banking her whole friendship on it.
For Larisa, this one looks like a tough sell. *sorry all*
No, I think your entire relationship depends on whether you take notice of the answer.
Larisa, if you do that, don’t go complaining when the screen shatters and causes all the glass to get stuck in your hand. XD
@ Strife:
I actually think it has been awhile since Larisa has burned or even threatened to burn anything.
It seems to be a windows phone
Yes, please burn it.
Does it count as destructive criticism if Larissa sets fire to the posting rules?
Hunting~ as long as the meat’s used. Some populations (like deer) require hunting to stay healthy.
Meat~I’m an omnivore much like Woo. My dietary requirements require animal proteins to function properly~ Newsflash: just like all humans.
Hayao~ Don’t know him well enough to know his cartoons
Social buttons: nope
The only questionaire I ever see is the hunting one.
I love Sandra’s answer; the way it conveys how well she knows Larisa’s nonsense~and exactly how much of it she’s willing to tolerate.
Well, at least she’s asking someone’s permission before trying destroy something. Baby steps.
I mean, don’t you guys hate it when nobody asks you if they can destroy a hand held device and do it without you even knowing it? It’s like when you park your car to buy groceries and 30 minutes later find out that your car isn’t in the place you parked and you can’t find it anywhere! The person doesn’t tell you where he/she is going, where you can find him/her, where he/she lives, what he’s/she’s going to do to it, or even give you his/her number to call him when you want it back. What a hassle it is when you have to call the police to find the person who is taking something of yours because the person doesn’t give you information on his/her whereabouts and wait weeks, months, or years to get it back.
If everybody could just ask like Larisa our lives would be so easy.
Is that a windows phone? Larissa must be an iPhone user then.
Every friendship arrives at this point.
Sandra, just let Larissa burn that thing. Then go out and buy an iPhone. You will never find the Droid you’ve been looking for.
You don’t have The Cat Returns in your Miyazaki poll list. 🙁
I was about to say the same thing.

“The Cat Returns” is not a Miyazaki movie.
Looks like a Lumia.. Windows crap BURN BURN BURN!
@ Novil:
Indeed. It’s a Ghibli Movie, that’s true, but not directed by Miyazaki.
The director is one Morita Hiroyuki, and the film draws inspiration from the earlier move by Kondo Yoshifumi (Whisper of the Heart)
I love The Cat Returns, the song at the end is irresistible – I’ll go and listen to it on youtube.
What do you have against Windows Phone? I find it much nicer than iOS or Android (and yes I do own an iDevice of my own)
Of course it is ok to burn up windows phones!
She could burn my phone anytime! But she would take great offense… My lame-ass phone would have been vary impressive back when pagers was the bee’s knee. {=(
@ Yarner:
Now I finally understand why I never liked “The cat returns”… don’t get me wrong please, I think is watchable, but I kept wondering why it didn’t even get close to other Miyazaki’s films.
…What kind of twelve year old uses the phrase,”Oh dear?”.
@ Pedro Kaled:
No, it is Windows Phone. Which actually is a half decent OS.
If it was Windows Mobile though, I would opt to vaporize it using superheated plasma instead of simply trying to burn it.
She has a point, you know. If Larisa HADN’T asked, their friendship probably WOULD have been affected.
•What’s your attitude to hunting? Contolled and licensed, I have no problem.
•What’s your attitude to eating meat? Personal choice, I avoid exotics and limit pork products for health reasons.
•What’s your favorite Hayao Miyazaki movie? “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, Like Miyazaki, I have a love for flight, and she flies like I’d like to – minimal encomberance.
•Have you ever used the social bookmark buttons below the comic transcript? No.
Is that a windows phone??? … LIGHT IT UP!
“Set fire to my phone?” Sure – which one? I have a boxful.
I collect them, then take them out to the desert, put them out about 250 yards, then let drive at them. 40-grain Hornady SXSP @ 2200fps makes them blow up SO nicely!
@ ExPaladin:
Well, the plastic will burn if she can get it hot enough.
It’s easier to get a new friend than a phone!
I’m against hunting for sport, but war against a species is okay. Some critters poised to take over the world, if they don’t destroy it first.
I find it amusing that she wants to burn a Windows Phone phone, and the ad displaying for me right above the comic is for Windows 8 tablets. 😉
(Full disclosure: If I end up getting a smartphone when I finally replace my old phone that’s definitely seen better days, it’ll quite likely be either one of the new Lumias or an HTC 8X. :p )
ExPaladin wrote:
I can tell you from prior experience that mobile phones take a while to ignite, but once lit they burn quite nicely. And give off a lot of choking, toxic smoke.
(In the days before recycling schemes, when a basic calls + texts phone was expensive to buy but practically worthless once either obsolete or broken, a friend of mine had become thoroughly sick with the one he had… and after a few too many rounds of drinks, we decided to “cook it to death” on the student dorm cooker. When that didn’t work, we took it out of the pan and put it in the (gas hob) fire. Took a couple minutes of full power to go from charred to melty to independently burning, but it got there. And then it took about a week of repeated cleaning attempts to get all the carbonised and melted plastic off the cooktop…)
@ Landbark:
Hey, if you give it enough oxidizer, it’ll go up in a fireball.
I will answer your poll questions right here:
.
•What’s your attitude to hunting?
Answer:- Humans are the best prey… but many hours spent playing Oblivion and Skyrim has left me with the unstoppable urge to chase all of the deer and knife them to death.
•What’s your attitude to eating meat?
Answer:- It is one of my favourite things to do.
•What’s your favorite Hayao Miyazaki movie?
Answer:- No idea. Who is Hayao Miyazaki again? Some random Japanese person?
•Have you ever used the social bookmark buttons below the comic transcript?
Answer:- Hell no.
