- Richard: Hey, Sandra, listen to this: “The Border Collie Chaser has a vocabulary of 1022 words and is able to recognize objects by the groups they belong to!”
- Sandra: That’s cool.
- Richard: That must be the smartest pet that has ever lived!
- Sandra: Uh-huh.
- Sandra: No, Woo, pawns can only capture other pawns en passant, not rooks.

So that was it with the next step?

A Larisa + Landon story arc will be published soon. But that was a standalone strip.
I love how clueless Richard is 😀
I can’t help thinking, however, that someday he will hear Woo talking or walk in on them playing chess or something like that and then the jig is up…
I actually had completely forgotten that Richard didn’t know yet, especially considering he has witnessed some of Woo’s behaviors (and has driven him places).
I wonder if the actual point of that specific strip was to remind us of the current status of Woo – Richard. Something coming up?
@ Novil:
So for now he sits in his BSOD limbo? 🙂
Woo´s a bit outgunned on the board, unless it is a queen before his king that is.
though in that case queen to A1 would be a superior move.
I wonder how Woo would get on in a blind game of chess. Would he be able to keep his focus, or would the temptation to steal his opponent’s sandwiches while their back was turned prove too great? I recall that in matches between Anatoly Karpov and Viktor Korchnoi, organisers had to put a barrier up to stop them from kicking each other under the table. Perhaps raccoon chess will require lockable food storage as standard. >:=)>
@ Sarusig:
maybe he know already and he is just not telling woo so he won’t freak out.
I just read the author’s response to the controversial strip about Sandra and Cloud. No wonder he and his webcomic are so brilliantly depicted on the Worst Webcomics website. I used to enjoy this comic, but now I just feel disappointed. This is the last time I’ll ever visit Sandra and Woo.
This is like when we tried to teach our cat to play Scrabble but she kept using proper nouns.
I feel like doing my fantasy casting again. I’ll get back to you on that.

I feel like this comic is getting weirder somehow… I’m not even sure how is it possible…
More like back to the old weird if you ask me. 😉
In biomedical engendering. He can even create the formula for the best crackers. Yup I love em.@ Switch Master:

@ Trimutius:
Nah it was always this weird. It’s just that it kinda disappeared during the B*tterfly comic arc. But it seems that everything is coming back now.
@ Lune:
Nobody cares, attention seeker. Go tell your therapist, not us.
Huh, how’d he even make that mistake? En passant is only usable when the piece being captured uses an irregular move (two spaces instead of one). The only way the piece clarification would be necessary would be if he tried to capture a Castled Rook, but that only happens on the edge of the board. Maybe Sandra’s just not very good at explaining.

I think Richards’ explanation could still fit. That collie is a pet. I’m not convinced Woo counts.
Since last week comics are about… well, visual innuendos. I was expecting this one will be Sid sitting alone and depressed.
@ Lune</b:
But of course, you had to comment about how HORRIBLE this comic is. It was a simple joke, and if you can't realize that, you might as well be throwing grass at a brick wall. Why don't you keep your negative opinions to yourself. Novil and Powree work hard on this comic, so hating on it is like insulting how a bird flies. And if you don't like it, guess what?
You don't have to read it.
I’d love to say I made it all bold for emphasis, but I’m not a liar.

I think so. Since last week, I think we’re going to have a lot character developments.

@ Lune:
Oh I remember that website. It’s filled with “White Knights” and butthurt people who angry at webcomics and too busy congratulating each others for being “Better people” circlejerk. Seriously go read BBC/Reuters/CNN/Al Jazeera if you want serious discussions on serious issues. Kids nowadays got their priorities mixed up.
Apparently, the border collie cannot talk, play chess, be trusted off the leash and out of sight for a long time, alone in the forest, smart enough to make a sandwich and literally worries if his tail has a bald spot or not. Once your border collie reaches those requirements in about an year, I’d congratulate you :3

Loon, if you think this is bad, then try making one yourself :Novil and the others worked hard on this comic (especially since they update frequently so they better be quick and not to mention how much money was spent money for ads) so I think the rude comments should be kept to yourself.
If you have a problem, either call the police ad file a complaint or just simply stop reading. We don’t care what your going to leave or stay(mostly since we’re Sandra & Woo fans). Your not dragging us down with you either.
I view reading Sandra and woo as a hobby to try and read it ASAP but rude comments like that can dent bother Novil and reader’s feelings. So in the future, better watch out about angry fans
@Novil,
Lune’s comment reminds me, how do we support this comic? I don’t see a donate button.
Oh, en passant, I’ll never forget the games I lost to you

I still have a hard time trying to explain that this is a legal move to most of my opponents.
Wow… never heard of this rule. I’am learning something new every day 🙂
Yay, a non-innuendo strip…OR IS IT?
This is easily my favorite recent one, however – other than the ‘Thanks you dirty liar’ art.
Woo Vs. Deep Blue: A match to Boggle scientists.
Don’t feel bad Woo, I wouldn’t know the diffrence of the usage of the pawn either! 😀 LOL!
@ Switch Master:
Your’s too?
@ AckAckAck:
Yes, I noticed the same thing about that site too, and I just read the review of Sandra and Woo on it. You’re pretty much right, all it is this guy saying ‘think of the children!’ and ‘Political issue! Oh no! Don’t like those!’ Or ‘There’s about as much violence here as in Looney Tunes! That’s not allowed!’. Really nitpicky and over-concerned with making themselves look good to actually give a fair and well thought-out review.
dzamie wrote:
This, definitely. For all the “smartest ever” thrown around, that’s a pretty obvious point about en passant capture: Only pawns can be captured en passant.
It would have been better to say that only pawns can capture en passant, because that is not obvious. It’s even pretty counter-intuitive, I think.
I thought any piece could capture any other piece, as long as they were in their range. Shows what I know, I guess.
Been helping new players with chess for many years and ‘en passant’ is easily the most mis-understood, oft overlooked and confusing item for nearly everyone. Many younger players do EXACTLY what Woo is doing and try to take *everything* for a while until they eventually get it (or go back to checkers… or take up Go). Older players look seriously at the board while you explain, nod a bit, and quickly avoid ever bringing it up again or using it for fear of doing it wrong.
There are so few people who actually know what en passant is, I was actually surprised to see it mentioned in this webcomic. If I thought it wasn’t possible for me to like this comic any more, this strip just proved me wrong. Awesome job.
Petah-Petah wrote:
When you take advantage off the en passant rule, you’re actually capturing a piece that’s not in the range off the pawn doing the capturing.

The last strip was a gag (and quite racy, too). Storylines don’t follow gags, I think 🙂
I still want to find out how sandra and larisa became friends
@ Jake:
Yeah, I had no idea. I had to Google it after I read this strip.
@ Novil:
Hype mode engaged.
@ Coolclaytony:
Yup he’s working on his Doctrine now.
@ Lune:
Hey guess what? Watashi wa fajji o ataeru ikenai !!!!!!!!!!

Ah. Here we have a prime example of a hater’s biological need to find something to hate on. Do they realize they do nothing but make themselves look like fools? Or do the honestly believe such a thing makes a difference? This is one of the many mysteries of nature yet to be solved.
Makes me wonder if we’ll ever get a livestream* that has a RACCOON playing “Sandra and Woo in the Cursed Adventure.” (chuckles) Probably not. Still waiting to hear about that game, though.
*And the players would be Novil and Powree, in a similar fashion to the Sonic Lost World livestream.
@ Petah-Petah:
Actually, they can; it’s the “en passant” part that’s special. 🙂
Honestly, the dog’s smarter than Woo. Trying to capture “en passant” with a rook… *sigh*
Then again. It took me a few minutes to remember what precisely the word meant 😛
All I know is, my toy poodle once was amazing at stealing food, he would jump on the counter, grab a bagel out of the bag and leave the rest, or open a pizza box and grab a slice. It was evil and brilliant we almost never caught him.
