[0602] Career Opportunities
└ posted on Monday, 28 July 2014, by Novil
- Ye Thuza: Kyaw Ne Min was one of the most corrupt and brutal generals of the Burmese army. He was a horrible human being, and his debauchery got worse with each passing week!
- Ye Thuza: One day he even dared to accuse my innocent little sister of a crime which she had never committed!
- Ye Thuza: But then, the next day, he suddenly vanished from the face of the earth! Puff. As if he had never existed!
- Ye Thuza: He was last seen leaving his mansion to go fishing. Naturally, his footmen turned the whole area upside down but they never found a single trace of him!
- Dorothy Cambridge: What’s this?
- Ye Thuza: A booklet full of interesting career opportunities for teachers in Saudi Arabia.
Alternate speech: I’m like one of those bald eagles that you see on tv. Beautiful to look at but if you mess with one of my chicks, I’m going to rip your *timer dings* eyes out!
Saudi Arabia… You’ll find it an interesting challenge, and they could use something to counter their own insanity.
Good luck, and try not to get killed.

Seriously? Using the “atheist” card? That is just as bad, actually even worse than the “Hitler card”! Really? Why would you put up something like that? It’s actually even discriminatory!
Jen-Fu wrote:
Well, Sandra might actually not be a feminist explicitly (She kind of acts like a cross between a Tory and a pro-law right wing… and an environmentalist, but that is besides the point…) but Larisa and Ye Thuza are indefinitely feminist in nature. Even if one of them can be a little on the * ahem * pro-sex side. (Larisa, obviously.)
In order to prevent more Harriets (probably from Sandra) we should get a comic about a positive feminist influence into the lives of the students.
@ preadatordetector:
Sorry for using the “Harriet” card. Extremely bad habit…
@ AckAckAck:
Oh… So all the cases of genital mutilation, mass rape as punishment, stoning for adultery, blaming the woman when she is raped, not allowing a woman to; drive, talk to other people, go to school, leave a burning building because they didn’t have a male escort and were underdressed… These are all made up?
You wish.
Maybe where you are isn’t crazy, but Saudi Arabia, Northwest Afghanistan, parts of Turkey, parts of Pakistan and other areas are VERY oppressive to women. And sometimes they even bring it with them when they immigrate here.
Wow. So Kyaw Ne Min must’ve really had a desire to teach in a foreign country.
On a side note, the ‘teacher’ isn’t really a feminist, but rather a sexist individual, as greatly reducing the freedoms of males goes against the whole aspect of seeking equality. While it is true that females experience lots of prejudice due to peoples’ socially conditioned concepts of gender roles, what Ms. Cambridge is doing is like having pre-slavery abolition plantation owners being enslaved by their once-were workers; it’s overkill and counterproductive.
So…. not a dream after all… the horror. XD
@ preadatordetector:
How’s Dr. Robotnik and the Pingas gang doing? Did they dominate the world yet? Or at least caught THAT HEDGEHOG!!!??!!
@ Landbark:
Well maybe she thought it wasn’t worth the risk to her family to go after him until the point where he threatened them.
@ Techno Gray:
Basically, Sinfest was this comic that started out pretty funny and with a little bit edgy humor, but the writer went hardcore radical second-wave feminist (including the SCUM Manifesto as a recommended reading), and every strip that’s political is about patriarchy and the evils of porn now. Any person who disagrees is presented as a whiny, irrational strawman, the female and male characters have essentially turned into a monolith, and when the fans criticized the direction, he called them a bunch of pretentious manbabies who wanted Monique to shake dat ass.
They could have talked about the nuances of feminism with that strip, and how it’s hard for a lot of people to understand the privilege that they gain from being part of a certain group, but nope. The men are the privileged babies, and the women are the only oppression that’s really mentioned, except like, one white privilege comic.
Not to mention that Tatsuya Ishida didn’t really get rid of his “edginess”, he just panders to a second-wave feminist audience. He still uses the only openly gay character as a comic relief, and most of the jokes stem down to, “Hah, he’s gay and a pervert.” Nothing about his character is unique in any way, shape, or form.
Take this in contrast with David Willis, who does write a storyline, is vocal about feminist views, but actually has nuance in his characterization instead of “FUCK YEAH! LET’S SMASH THE PATRIARCHY, SISTERHOOD!”
Saudi Arabia will go Bankrupt.
Males will go Bankrupt.
Ye Thuza will kick some SERIOUS ass!
Cambridge is jelly.
Cloud is jelly.
Also what’s that Michelle X Zoey strip doing on Troll Science.com? The people on that site will be real mad when they realize there’s no lesbians. Or stumble upon Ms Trike girl grown up.

What makes you think that she *needs* weapons?
@ Suitora:
Yeah. Sinfest is basically an unreadable mess now. Masturbation and porn guilt is puritanical. We are biologically wired to need to get our rocks off every now and that doesn’t matter what under what color under the gender spectrum you fall under. We can’t all be asexual lizard people. Mammals are the horniest creatures in existence. We can’t help it. It’s human to lust. Lust is the biological drum of creation, the reason why we have people born into this world. For the record, I’m not defending the porn industry. I’m defending human sexual desire.
I take issue with sinfest mainly because it implies that in the absence of feminism humans, especially the straight males are somehow amoral soulless monsters. I knew that I would take a bullet for my gay friends long before I even knew feminist doctrine, and I had female friends that I saw as my friends, not as potential receptacles for my shween. And I know that there are very real issues that women face when dealing with a patriarchal society. But Sinfest misses the forest for the trees. Sinfest misses the forest for the trees in a petrified forest on the moon of Kandor.
We have a classic contrast here. Ye Thuza. A powerful female character, more potent and cunning than most men, a woman who fights real tyranny, and we have a wing-nut feminist who perceives innocent behavior as infractions of her crusade, lashing out at imaginary tyranny.
Ye Thuza wants to give Cambridge a real battle to fight.
Somehow I -knew- that Oliver was going to tag Sinfest at some point. Because we can’t talk about feminism in a webcomic without bringing up that trainwreck.
Dottie will look great in a burqa. Either that or she sleeps with the fishes.
@ Switch Master:
Immature. Ew. My only response is this:
*Ms. Cambridge gets shoved into a hollow metal tube.*
*Maniacal laughter.*
*4 hours later…*
Man she was fat… Hey Switchblade, want a new battery? A medi-bot? Shield-bot? Hello?
Ah well, time to go to Harriet’s house…
*Maniacal laughter.*
@ Peridotdreams:
Like a bullet to the temple?
@ Troll Science Man:
You tested my patience. You tested my tolerance for stupidity. Now you are going to… pay.
Wait! Get back here! All I wanted was a new battery for my laptop! Come back here! Augh!
*Shoves you in a metal tube while laughing maniacally…*
*An hour later…*
25%!?? 25% Battery charge?!! Stupid piece of alien energy technology!!!
If you know where I got the last sentence from you would be shaking your heads…

Oh, but just one post ago you accused me of ‘simply talking about feminists’ in general, without distinction? So may I assume that you meanwhile have dropped that accusation?:
For your very bad memory, again my initial post:
“[…] people who pose as ‘feminists’ […]”
-> I even used quotes to emphasize that I did not mean feminists who honestly fight against true discrimination. And of course you know that people like Cambridge can often be found in political parties. And of course you’ll never admit that you know. YaddaYaddaYadda, maybe you misread my goalpost, maybe you misread the goalpost on purpose. I don’t know and I don’t care 😛
@ Rarefoil:
I have a feeling that an extreme feminist in Saudi Arabia wouldn’t go over so well. Credit to her if she lives.
@ Amy:
This is super late, but, hey. Ye Thuza. There’s your real feminist.
@ preadatordetector:
O.O
___. WTF dude?
Problem?
@ preadatordetector:
Oooooooooooooooooooookaaaaaaaaay.
(Moves away from keyboard )
I’m gonna pretend that never happened.
But seriously Mr. Detector I am sure Ye Thuza will clobber that hog and Michelle will take care of the ol wicked Christian of the west as well.
Also nobody has ever called me Switchblade.
Oh goody. Silly straw man character go bye-bye now? We have funny comics again?
@ Tucci78:
Another Al Capone quote= “You get further with a kind word and a gun than a kind word alone.”
@ Threadnaught: Hah! I didn’t catch that at first. All I thought was, “Good planning Ye Thuza… if plan A fails, plan B will be so much easier to accomplish at a lake in the middle of nowhere” (relatively – there is the tractor there)

Ambrose Bierce Devil’s Dictionary definition= Misogynist= a man whose opinion of women matches that of women for women.
@ AckAckAck:
“honour” killings, forced marriages, stoning, and you think Islam doesn’t deserve mockery and disdain? (As would any religion that excused and encouraged such inhumanity.) Social differences are one thing, vile and wrong is another. Be Christian, be Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, whatever, but first and always, be humane!

Thank you! I know not all atheists are like that. You are free to choose your believe system or not believing. What I hate is when people start belittling other’s believe system to make them feel superior. Be a good man/woman change the world for the better.
@ Tualha:
Yay! Can’t wait!
@ r2d2go:
I totally 100% agree. I would support her. She can borrow my family’s Katana for the next strip.
@ Amy:
I was actually hoping that Ye Thuza would give her what for and show her (and the reader) what real feminism is, not the misandric bullshit she was spouting in the name of feminism.
@ Peregrine:
Same here. This mostly makes me realize that Oliver ain’t perfect, and that he will have opinions I don’t agree with, and that I’m okay with that. I’ll continue reading.
I’ll just ignore the slimy taste of MRA this arc left in my mouth.
Hahahahaha, THIS is more like it XD
@ Rarefoil:
I doubt she’ll survive there that long.
Wonder what interesting new career opportunity Ye Thuza gave the general?
Ye Thuza: still the scariest mom alive.
@ Van:
Too Far.
Thos poor Saudi Arabians. 🙁
@ Troll Science Man:
It’s amazing that the eloquent can still trump the speed-texters in humor these days.
@ Switch Master:
More nicknames! Is that a bad thing?
Oh no…
*Screams.*
@ preadatordetector:
Maybe I should have said slang-slingers in response to Dr. Troll’s reply… Whatever.
Your humor is a little bit crude for my tastes… But ah well. I shouldn’t discriminate you for that.
NOVIL I WASN’T TALKING TO YOU.
I’m not sure I like this. On the one hand, Ye Thuza’s a cool, badass, character, on the other… LOLMURDER.
I know she’s just making a subtle threat but holy shit, man.
@ Peridotdreams:
*wink wink*
*hint hint*
*nudge nudge*
*drown drown*
@ preadatordetector:
No I like it thanks. 🙂 🙂
@ preadatordetector:
Uh? Well thanks for your constructive criticisim. I will work on my jokes some more.
Also you should go get some fresh air to clear your mind. You seem stressed. That can lead to serious health issues. If you’re gone, then Harriet and Cambridge will happily roam the earth spreading discord and chaos everywhere. You don’t want that do you?
Troll Science Man wrote:
If that happens
Discord will go bankrupt
Twin Masters will go bankrupt
Larissa,Landon and Cloud will be jelly.
Problem Bronies/ Hero 108 fans?
@ Troll Science Man:
Discord? Chaos? No no no… that is not logical.
Instead… they will spread oppression, conformity, and civil wars between the two autocratic ideals.
Also…
Go pro-sex feminism! (NOT Cambridge’s brainwashing ideals.)
Go environmentalism!
I also wish that more guys would be able to report sexual abuses and be taken just as seriously as the ladies… But it isn’t happening as much as I would prefer.
And yes, I really needed to change my surroundings. I overheat like a 5 dollar computer and unfortunately we had global warming issues so… Bad combination.
And if you accuse me of being a menopaused freak, I am a dude. (And I am a feminist.)
I’ve found this straw feminist arc kind of boring, especially since so many people think it’s representative of actual feminism. I’m glad it’s coming to a conclusion.
@ preadatordetector:
No no no I’m not against feminist. I believe in equal opportunities as well.
I’ve enjoyed this arc, but its end will at least mean that people in the comment threads will stop endlessly parroting the phrase “straw feminist” in a misguided effort to sound intelligent.
