Windows: Turn the curtains upside down, and then close them to hide the window orientation. Doors: Place him where he can’t see one easily.

Tranquilizer guns aren’t likely to have much recoil. If they were powerful enough to have a dangerous recoil, they’d probably damage/destroy the dart on firing, or kill the target.
