[0623] The West Identity: Episode 1, Page 1
└ posted on Thursday, 9 October 2014, by Novil
- Sandrine West: Pushed into the corner and surrounded by hostile forces, freedom fighter Sandrine West desperately tries to find a way out of the seemingly hopeless situation.
- Sandrine West: But it’s too late! A brutal strike sweeps her off her feet.
- Sandrine West: This is what you get in this country for not following the crowd. This is what you get for standing your ground.
- Zoey: You’re the worst dodgeball player ever! Get lost!
- Sandrine West: Liberté, égalité, death to the C.I.A!
There are going to be more of these? SWEET!!!
Free Sports Tip: Shirts with big, bright “hit me RIGHT HERE” targets on the front aren’t great Dodge Ball apparel.
Pfffhaha. Nice. Although Ye Thuza might raise a suspect eyebrow at this sort of roleplay if she hears about it. I mean, Ye Thuza’s cool, she’s probably not gonna be overtly offended but *still*. Little bit too close… or maybe she’ll encourage that rebel spirit? Hard to say!

What’re you talking about? It’s the BEST dodgeball attire; it gives people a target to aim for, that can then be easily anticipated! (Think the bright yellow bat on many batman costumes.)
…It’s not SANDRA’S fault that her opponents went for the headshot; they ignored the designated target!
Glory to Arstotzka.
@ Bree:
Just because they’re bad at aiming for the exact target doesn’t mean the star didn’t get her attention she could have avoided. I wonder how Larisa is doing..and how easily Cloud is taking everyone else down.
Che GeSandRA
Boom, headshot.
CIA Dodgeball division is a very ruthless team.
Also I just realized that there’s political theme going on. Too bad there’s a lot of people got butthurt from previous comic even when it’s just a harmless satire.
“Episode 1 Page 1”? As in there’ll be more of this? Sweet B-)

Is this a sports story arc?
Meanwhile…
Boys: Perhaps if we all throw them at the same time- GO!
Cloud: *dodges easily*

Other girls: Stop distorting space, Larisa! It’s not fair!
Larisa: Sure thing.. you want to see those Matrix bullet time effects again, right?
>:=)>
Please tell me that Sandra gets kidnapped by the “CIA” and Cloud (the resistance leader, of course) has to come to the rescue. In the grand finale, they share a passionate kiss and then get detention for PDA. LOL if I predicted this right.
Cool! Another of Sandra North’s alter egos!!! The first one is, of course, Sandra I, Empress and Supreme Ruler of Northia!!! The second is Sandy South, Private Eye. And now, here’s another one! Sandrine West, Freedom Fighter!
Dodgeball where hitting a larger opponent means a definite beating later so everyone targets the weakest first. Yeah not my favorite. Kickball was more fun.
@ BobisOnlyBob:
Ye Thuza’s main objection will be that Sandra is -losing-! 😉 Maybe she’ll give Sandra lessons…
I always knew dodgeball was a Dictator sport!
I don’t know if it’s just me, but Sandra really reminds me of Konata Izumi for some reason. Probably because they both hate sports. Also both overreact a lot. But I just may have Lucky Star on the mind. And Anime in general. But Lucky Star is a real good Anime.
I like the Homestar shirt.
I thought blows to the head didn’t count in dodge ball.
… i belive that this is related to the french revolution
is this assuption accurate?
Love the artwork great job (whomever draws this) not sure if it was Oliver or Prowee.

Doesn’t matter. If Sandra is choosing to stand her ground in Dodgeball, she will get hit many of times. This hit may not have counted, but chance is she already took a dozen of hits that did count earlier. Heck, the opponents may have aimed at her head because she has already given them so many points they didn’t need to worry about getting more and instead thought it was more fun to hit the clown on her head.
Liberté, égalité fraternité.
Mais <> peut marcher aussi bien.
I’m joking. My french is minimal.
But seriously, that’s hilarious.
Sandra is in that phase where she narrates her life. I knew a guy who did that for two weeks.
@ Gamesman:
Eh, I was small and bookish and enjoyed dodgeball immensely. If anything, bigger kids were easier targets because they were slower and tended to focus on attack rather than defense. I was great at dodging and a passable shot.

Yeah, I hear they’re going for headshots.

I’m offended. Let’s see… I’m offended at the death threats to harmless CIA agents! I mean, can you really hate someone who has Kryptos in their backyard?

What would the CIA do with a kid?……… Oh no……The cyborg apocalypse is upon us. RUN!!!!!!
@ myth buster:
It depends on the rules established before the game. most schools dont allow headshots and you can get DQed for something like that.
But if they’re playing by ‘The Longest yard’ rules, well…*reff looks away*
Considering the ‘West Identity’ part of the title, I wonder if concussion and/or memory/identity loss are going to be parts of the story (ala ‘The Bourne Identity’)…
This strip is bringing back unpleasant memories . . . what a pity, here I am with my killing instinct in gear and no snotty private-school bully brats to disembowel!
BobisOnlyBob wrote:
Are you kidding? She would jump right in! And not settle for anything else but total world dodgeball domination!
Or complete elimination of the opposing team. Whatever comes first.
On another note: Yay, Zoey! 🙂
Larisa’s rubbing off on her. XD
Well Balls. Soon to be a swear word if they start playing with bludgers, provided anyone survives of course.
Heyas author (Don’t recall the name at this moment) even though you probably won’t see this, I just wanted to say that I am fairly new to this comic and I love it. I read every. Single. Strip. In 2 days *Slightly ashamed* and now I can’t wait for more. Keep up the awesomesauce work.
@ Zirrix:
And just realized my avatar is really old. Crap.
if you are bad at this game and forced to play with your friends anyway, for any reason, a good strategy is to sneak behind anyone who’s bigger than you, if someone is smaller just crouch…this works until other players from your team notice you or there are only 3 players left (you and other two)….if they notice you, they will run from you…that is it…game over……
I never was able to hide for too long anyway….damn….
someone’s been reading Ludlum lately…either that olr watching the films based on his books…
Mmmeh, can’t really fault Zoey for this one.
When playing dodgeball, dodge! Don’t stand there monologuing about it. ^^
♪I used to rule the world, seas would rise when I gave the word…♪
Plot twist: Cloud was actually the one who threw the ball. It was an accident.

HOW DID I ONLY JUST TODAY FIND THIS AWESOME COMIC. also I read all 623 pages in about 3 hours.
@ Connorses:
Ah, the good old days in Strongbadia.
@ AckAckAck:
I don´t think the problem was the attempt at satire, so much as the fact that the last comic wasn´t funny.
Love the explanation in the last panel! 🙂
@ Bree:
And headshots are against the rules of Dodgeball, aren’t they?
(not that this stopped be getting injured every time we played. I had a standing excuse from my PE teacher to sit outside during Dodgeball. I hate it.)
