- Zoey: Hi, Luna.
- Luna: Hello, Zoey.
- Zoey: Interesting sweater-skirt combination.
- Luna: Th– thank you.
- Zoey: But didn’t you wear the same thing on Monday already?
- Caption: Middle school girls: The only known species that always tortures its prey before devouring it.
- Zoey: And on the 17th, and on the 15th, and on the 11th, …

If the last panel is the torturing part, what could be the devourong part?
MathAddict wrote:
The devouring part could not be shown since it was too gruesome even for our comic (remember Ruth killing the Lynx mother).
Luna: Well, yes, but why do you spend so much time checking me out, Zoey? And are those pictures of me on your phone??? That’s really kind of creepy and stalker-ish. If you like me, just come out and say it. You shouldn’t keep those kind of feelings bottled up.
So what if she wears the same clothes frequently? That is HER choice, not theirs.
Rich wrote:
She’s looking at a calendar app with notes, not pics.
Well, I mean, props to her for having the patience to record what everyone’s wearing each day. That must take patience.
@ Novil:
Shhh! You’re ruining it for the comeback! 🙂
And then Zoey ate her. The end.
Kinda glad I never had to worry about this when I was in Highschool. Uniforms! 😀
Nobody seems to care in college
What you portray is all too real in middle school. As a middle school teacher for 39 years I’ve seen it many time. I’ve also seen kids ( male and female) intervene to resue kids being picked on. I’ve seen amazing unselfishness and a willingness to take risks forother students. I remember being that age and I don’t remember it being very east. Some of those same girls you portray do “get it” and go on to be wonderful people. Your other portrayals are kinder and more typical. of the age.
Padon the sermon, but some of my best friends are/weremiddle schoolers.
If it ain’t broke….
I never understood this kind of teasing.
At least it’s not that damned sweater meme thing. You know the sweater with the hole in it?
Anyway I thought this was going to go in another direction, since it’s Zoey.
Merry Christmas everyone! Or Hanukkah Or Ramadan which ever you celebrate.
@ Novil:
Umm… Just a question. Are you going to post a Christmas-related comic anytime soon?
This is probably one of the reasons my middle school had a uniform: “Didn’t you wear a black shirt yesterday? And the day before?” “You did too, ya jerk.”
@ MathAddict:
Plot-twist: The girl is wearing a Christmas sweater!
Just building back up that hatred we knew her for. Starting to miss the days when readers empathized with her
Oooh! I doubt that name is a random pick. Characters named “Luna” or stylized as “lunatic” tend to be lots of fun. Think Luna Lovegood, “Lunatic Princess” Kaguya and, of course, Princess Luna. Three instant memes, hardly just by chance. 🙂
If she’s as much of a Luna as Larissa is a Largo, I’ll certainly approve. 😀 (Which reminds me, is there a Largo x Larisa ship? That would be… glorious, though certainly cataclysmic.)
Bullying: There’s an app for that.
Just because we noticed her being a fully fledged person with certainly a number of good traits doesn’t mean Zoey will suddenly stop having any flaws at all. The girl’s human, you know. 😉
Gotta say though that I’ve heard of behaviour like this, but never experienced it at my school. At least not to this level. Wearing the same sweater and pants or skirt several days in a row wasn’t exactly uncommon for us. On the other hand: She wore it on the 11th, 15th, 17th and on… I hope it got washed sometime in between.
@ Lukkai:
Yeah, even when she did good things she’s also still a bully. Maybe not “Mean Girls” level of bullying but more like feather weight class bullies. But at least now her bullying will also includes a chance on “hitting” on other girls if you know what I mean.
Also I think this kind of beaviour usually related to female bullying? Because boys tend to be less conscious about clothings they wear since they are going to dirtying it up soon.
@ Roachester:
My mind just took that to a dirty place.
I would just look at Zoey and ask, “So what’s your point?”
“So…you’re stalking me?” …would be my reaction.
Meeeeeeoooowww.
Cats also play with their “Food”.
Although not necessarily Every Time.
Zoey deserves to go to hell.
But I feel the same with a bunch of girls I met in high school, so whatever.
Zoey is standing out in public at the school where any number of our noble protagonists can see her ridiculing Luna. This is not going to end well for Zoey, espesially if Larisa is the one who come to the rescue. Merry Christmas to all of you, may God bless you in everything you do for the rest of this year and into the next!
I don’t get it… as a middle school student myself, I never see this sort of thing going on… people in my school would hardly care about somebody stating they had worn the same thing many many times before… and would have come backs ready for this exact circumstance (like, ‘why have you been making notes on what people have been wearing all this time… that’s more than a little weird…’)
Actually though, the torments that kids do put each other through are much much worse… *shudder*.
Maybe people in our school have different priorities to others… after all, people know that they can get me just by asking me a whole bunch of questions about whatever I’m doing… ‘Do you do that often? Do you enjoy doing that?’
Even if the answers are not embarrassing at all… huh, maybe it’s just us who are weird.
Sorry for the very long post.
Believe me it happens to adults too. I ended up wearing the same pair of blue jeans to work twice in a row since I was doing some work in the back room and didn’t need to wear my good kakis.. I got up late and grabbed the first pair I saw and didn’t realize it was the same pair.
I was actually ‘talked to’ by my boss about dressing and proper work hygiene, etc all because of that.
Some people love getting others in trouble, or at least making them feel uncomfortable. Considering Zoey’s own recent issues she should remember things come back to haunt you later on if you’re not careful.
Someone should note that the name of the comic is probably a reference to the short story of the same name…
Middle-school girls are CANNIBALS!?

@ I’ll Eat Yourself:
Have YOU ever been to middle school?
Also apologies for not posting in like 2 months. Really. ORAS + family probs = no time for anything else. But now I will be able to post regularly.
But seriously, can we please have more Ben and Theo? Those guys are hilarious!
Oh and Merry Christmas
Someone is forgetting cats. I’ve seen then toying with birds before in a manner most cruel. I think killer whales play around with seals and penguins too.

It’s a social status thing, as it’s implies your family can’t afford to buy you enough stylish clothes that to keep you from regularly wearing the same thing.
I’m is glad he went to school that had uniforms since he was in the 2nd Grade just one less hassle)
@ Leomon:Interesting. I wear nothing but black. (Matches my leather jacket and cap) A few times I’ve had people ask me why. On a couple of occasions I’ve looked them in the eye and said, “Why don’t you stop and figure it out for yourself.” Lately I just say that’s all I have in my dresser which makes it easy for me to dress when I’m half asleep. 😉
When I hear the name Luna I think of…um…I can’t link to a picture of her here
because I got banned for a while the last time I did…
…or was it one of the other two cats in the picture that got me blocked? ^_-
Anyways the other “moonies” will know who I’m refering to. ^_-

Further interesting.
I used to wear White and Blue (top down) always. Keeps the sun off and Jeans are easy and durable.
Then I got hired in a media related job; dress code = bright and varied colors, usually yellow or blue.
I used to wear the same clothes I’d worn the other day if I was feeling lazy or in a rush to get to class. Saves time on folding laundry 😀
We must never forget that Zoey’s character depth comes from the fact that she’s, on one hand, a girl with her own problems and soft spots (513-529) and, on the other hand, is still the alpha bitch girl at Sandra’s school.
We must not forget that Zoey’s character depth comes from the fact that she’s, on one hand, a girl with her own problems and soft spots (513-529) and, on the other hand, is still the alpha bitch girl at Sandra’s school… Remember folks: The alpha bitches are people, too… Occasionally mean people, but still.
wow, now imagine that going on everyday to one girl by her ex-best/only friend and you have worm up to the Taylor being locked in her locker. Bullies should be glad we live in a universe where a pushing someone till they have a psychotic break doesn’t give you super powers.

Still stalkerishly creepy.
Zoey gets docked a couple of points here in terms of likability, but this is something we already knew about her character. Her changing into a softie would only make her character worse. I am actually glad the writer is taking some time to establish that Larisa isn’t just blowing smoke, Zoey and Michelle are bullies that need to be put in their place.
And in any case, is any character ever going to top the soul-tainting awfulness that is Landon’s mom, and Ms. Cambridge? Sure hope not. Zoey’s an antagonist, and probably the only one of her type that the comic needs right now.
*leaps off building in Batman costume*
@ Adamas:
I really like your avatar.
Okay, time for Larissa and Sandra to take action.
to be so sure, she must be stalking her for a few days…..maybe
And let’s not forget that one Austrailian reporter that wore the exact same suit (but different tie) every day for a whole year! The same clothes thing only affects women for some reason. (seriously not one person even commented on that reporter who did that…)

Not that we were any better. We just found other things we could tease our co-students for.
Personally, I’m usually wearing the same clothes twice and jeans/sweaters up to a week unless I get sweaty or they get dirty or smelly for another reason. And so far I’ve had no one complain about it. Helps of course that the average temperature were I live easily allows for that most of the year.
