Interview with our reader Satsuoni
Here is a new interview about Sandra and Woo with one of the Sandra and Woo fans that received a poster package, our reader
Satsuoni
Can you please introduce yourself to our readers?
> Hi! I am Seva, aka Satsuoni, a Russian living in Japan. I like webcomics and manga, prefering them over US-style comic books, mainly because of consistency 😉
When you read Sandra and Woo for the first time, what grabbed your attention the most?
> Hmm, that was a long time ago… Drawing style, I guess? It was (and is) very nice. That, and talking raccoon 🙂
Is the thing you mentioned above still your favorite part of the comic, or do you like something else the most now?
> I am not very good at grading “like” 🙂 There are some things that I enjoyed more, such as some strips with fresh-eating squirrel. I still enjoy the drawing style. I don’t have fixed “favorite parts” :>
Who is your favorite character and why?
> Depending on the mood:
– Good mood: Larisa, beacuse of her attitude (especially towards fire), which I can only aspire to!
– Normal mood: Umm… Sandra, because she is cute? I guess.
– Bad mood: Woo, for his approach to troubles.
Do you have a favorite story arc and/or a favorite single strip?
> Nothing that springs to mind right now. Maybe the hunter one? I do prefer arcs to individual strips.
You have read Sandra and Woo for many years now. Do you think the comic has changed in any way since the beginning?
> Not in any way that I noticed, which, for me, is a good thing. I dislike noticeable changes, since at best they change the thing I like into the thing I like, and at worst, make thing worse. The art is somewhat more refined if you compare the strips from different years, I guess.
Sandra and Woo is sometimes criticized for lacking focus. Is there an aspect of the comic that you’d rather get rid of?
> Get rid of? Time between updates 🙂
Is there a topic you’d like to see getting addressed in a longer story arc?
> Larisa/Woo relationship? Not sure.
What are your wishes for the future of Sandra and Woo?
> Let it last till I drop 😀
Is there any other webcomic which you’d like to recommend to our readers?
> Well… The usual: Schlock Mercenary, Twokinds, El Goonish Shive…
Do you have anything else do say? Here’s room for it:
> Already said too much <_<
Well, many thanks to Satsuoni, who introduced me to EGS, which I’ve just spent the last 12 hours to read up on their 2000+ comics archive and added to my RSS-reading list.
Pretty sure there’s a word missing there… or perhaps a contraction
