I checked various sources and it looks like William Wirt was an inactive member of the freemasons at the time of his nomination. He definitely held no grudge against them.
The actual Kickstarter project with -2 backers had nothing to do with smartwatches. It was titled “SelfMade Entrepreneurs, LLC * Lifestyle * Branding * Music”. Kickstarter fixed the bug/problem in the meantime, though, and the project page now simply says “0”.
- Sandra: And now, it’s time for some fun facts!
- Woo: Boy, Novil must be really running out of ideas.
- Sandra: Quiet! Or do you want to get written out of the comic?!
- Caption: Alfonso Cuarón, director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, had his three lead actors write an essay about their characters. Emma Watson wrote a sixteen page treatise, Daniel Radcliffe wrote a one page summary, and Rupert Grint never turned his in.
- Rupert Grint: I thought I wrote it…!
- Caption: In 1828, the Anti-Masonic Party was founded in the United States. In 1832, Attorney General William Wirt was appointed their presidential candidate, a freemason.
- William Wirt: What sets us apart from other parties is our adherence to our core values!
- Caption: The worst Kickstarter project was so bad that it ended with -2 backers donating a whopping $-2.
- Caption: SMARTY – The world’s 1st free energy smartwatch – Pokémon MMORPG pre-installed! – Integrated barista-quality coffee brewer!
- Sandra: Your “prototype” is a piece of wood on a string…
- Larisa: Pff. We still have two whole months until our promised shipping date!

Very informative. I would have been the one to turn the essay in late with only 3 sentences.
I still got good grades though.
Good way to lighten up after the last arc, if you ask me. Clears the head for whatever might come next.
Also, these are some fun facts. And the drawings really bring them to life. (^_^)
Well yeah, Rupert Grint never turned his in because ‘that’s what Ron would do’.
@ An Cat Dubh:
I think Hermione would submit a 16 page essay, and Harry would submit a summary.
All facts seem kinda FAKE
Lol the Pokemon MMORPG needs to be a thing. Or maybe a League-of-Legends-style MMO. And we need a TF2 Pokemon version with:
Greninja as Scout
Nidoking as Heavy
Machoke as Soldier
Lucario as Sniper
Ditto as Spy
Heatmor as Pyro
Wigglytuff as Medic
Spinda as Demoman
and Timburr as Engineer
@ MawileCeyvis:
LoL is a MOBA. MMO is more like World of Warcraft.
@ Trimutius:
First two are legit, but the third seems to be made up.
@ Trimutius:
They’re actually all true. I checked.
How do you get negative backers though? That seems… impossible.

On the comments and comic. I like sources.
@ Crazyhead42:
Like he said, it was a bug. Read the text under the text under the title.
@ Crazyhead42:
I think it means they backed out maybe?
-Pokemon MMORPG pre installed
That one joke alone is making my sides ache like you don’t even know
Gasp! TV cameras and microphones in 1832!
Saw this today. Wondered if that was some relative of Seeoatlahmakaskay in the middle there.

I don’t know but Free Mason actually turned out to be boring old social club in reality.
That and the symbols might be either messing with public, trademark on works like ancient craftsmen, or both.
8@ Xezlec:It’s called an anachronism.
@ bogwombler:Sorry. The reply was meant for Frank.
@ An Cat Dubh:
To be honest, It’s absolutely beautiful. Just further proves that the casting was utterly flawless. Hermione (and the actress who played her) over-achieves and gets an unquestionable A+. Harry does a decent, if not exemplary job at it, B. And of course, Ron may or may not have written the darn thing, but it doesn’t matter since he forgot to turn it in.
I’m having a total nerdgasm here. This is too freaking perfect.
Hey, at least Larisa’s prototype is combustible.
Fuel to feed the fire.

Don’t credit the casting, but the acting.
The Method strikes again!
I just found this series today, and just read everything so far, and have loved it. I already want more!
Well Rupert always claimed that he was just in character 😀
I’m honestly surprised that the kick starter thing was real. i wonder how it must of felt to have -2 backers . I know it was a bug, but imagine if that was a thing like someone on the project had to pay 2 dollars to something or two people were like yeah i’m gonna just take my 1 dollar i said i would give back and do something else with it.
Ahhh! Too much fourth wall breaking!!! 🙂
I wish other characters know Woo’s secret…
Ordinarily I would call you out on your self-deprecation in three MS Word pages of 12-point Arial, BUT you put the accented E in Pokémon, so I guess I can let it slide for now.
…I’ve seen the first fact before, but with Daniel and Rupert switched around Rupert Grint was the one to submit a summary, and Daniel Radcliffe was the one who didn’t hand anything in. Now I don’t know which one is correct.
Woo seems sore after the forced gag order. Maybe some 4th wall cheesecake?
So either they were cast as themselves or they really adapted to the characters.
@ MawileCeyvis:
There is a Pokémon MMO. It’s called PokeMMO.
The reason he grint never turned in an essay is because he said Ron wouldn’t write one
Anti-Masonic Party, you had ONE job. It’s not like you were known for your complex platform and your nuanced take on many issues. You were the original single issue party and yet you managed to drop the ball. This sort of failure is kinda sad. Unless it was a shrwed kind of meta-argument argument: “See, Masons are infiltrating America’s political parties, they even infiltrated ours!”
That’s so realistic to the characters, though!
Hope i’m not intruding, but did you see the woes of Tarol “Goblins” Hunt with Kickstarter? The guy that had to develop him a game inspired by his comic vanished, and KS is being very less than cooperative.. makes me wonder what really happens when projects don’t go as planned.
A Watch with Pokemon on it?
Shut up and take my debit card!
Heads up, guys, /r/shittykickstarters on reddit has more.
