- Woo: When will I get to see our kits again?
- Lily: Later, when they’re older.
- Woo: How much later?
- Lily: In four–
- Woo: –weeks?
- Lily: Years.
- Woo: You are only three years old!!
- Lily: All right. In three and a half years.

It’s finished when it’s finished!
Yeah, well, Woo didn’t understand that it didn’t seem like Lily want to show kits at all…
Yeah… I think it will take a few days at the least for Lily to be willing to compromise there. I also think that she will.
this is not gonna end well…
i wonder if lily realizes her over-protectiveness is gonna have the opposite effect of whats intended?
Hey at least you don’t pay child support
The expressions here are perfect
Is this a flashback from the last strip or is it Woo trying to see his kits again?
Poor Woo. He won’t be seeing his kits as kits anymore at this rate.
I’m a little confused by the punchline, why does it matter that Lily’s only 3 years old?
@ John Willow:
If she’s old enough to be around other racoons and even have kits of her own at 3 years old, it’s ridiculous of her to think Woo can only see the kits when they’re 4 years old because that’s when they’ll be old enough.
@ John Willow:
It’s highlighting the over-the-top overprotection that Lily is evidencing here. She won’t trust even her mate around his own children until they are older than her current age. Her absurd “compromise” to 3.5 years continues the irrationality. (It’s also biologically ridiculous, since kits typically stay with their mom for a year or less.) Clearly some maternal hormones need a few days to dampen. 😉
Bah. Within less than a year, each of the kits will have long since been weaned and Lilly’s little family group will have broken up and established the independent ranges in which they’ll live and breed on their own.
They grow up so… slowly, thinking about it. :S
For some reason, a little voice in my head is screaming…
“Something is going to happen to Lily and Woo is going to have to raise their kits.”
I hope to God I’m wrong…
So.. how old was Woo?
I think I saw him around 2008.
And Lily is 3….?

Raccoons living in the Wild seldom live to be 4 years of age.
Woo knows this.
One of the ways they Die is protecting their Kits.
@ Sapphire225:
That’s kind of the point. In raccoons, males don’t actually even take part in raising the young (yes, this is a comic, but it does have some realistic parts to it too), which is likely because they mate with multiple females (in reality, in the comic we know this isn’t the case with Woo) and some of the females mate with multiple males (in reality, in the comic we know this isn’t the case here) and so they can’t tell which babies are definitely theirs so they’d just try to eat any they come across in case it is a ‘rival’s’ instead of their own.
@ Shadow Moon:
Not really? In raccoons the males don’t take part in raising the offspring at all normally – so her behaviour is pretty normal actually. She would rather Woo didn’t decide to EAT her children after all (yes as a comic character it seems unlikely that he would do so, but in reality, that is what would most likely happen).
This is not the Lily I’ve come to know and admire.
So… Based on the page the other day, is Woo going to be a widower soon?
Ouch. Harsh.
I thought lily was 13? according to that other comic when there talking about teen pregnancy ???
Did Woo do something wrong at some point and I missed it?! because this makes NO sense to me as it stands!
Hey! Another crazy over the top female character.
I liked it better when Lily wasn’t insane.
@ John Willow:
Its the same as
When Can I see my Kids again?
When they’re 40
But you’re 30!
35 then!
@ Dr. Morgan:
It confused me to. The comic did not say that she was in her teens, it just stated that she shouldn’t be able to have kits when she is 13.
– to lily “you are only 3 yo”
3-4 strips before
– “racoons got an average lifespan of 3 years”
Poor lily QQ and woo too, he wouldn’t be able to see his kits
@ Cedrick:
No, but comic book logic states that the relationship between woo and his kits would be too risky to develop, sice it might not be as pleasing to the readers as something else… But we all know very well that the readers here DO want to have it developed…but i don’t know… That’s just my opinion…
@ Draccoon:
I have that feeling too…
Poor, poor Woo

In the wild “raccoons got an average lifespan of 3 years”, but they don’t die of old age, Woo can expect 17 or more years yet. Lily too, if she’ll accept a little help and protection from Sandra.
Cedrick wrote:
No, this is a commentary on the way that Female Raccoons protect their young.
Even from the Father.
Because, in the Wild, male Raccoons frequently Kill the Kits.
Sometimes even their Own offspring.
@ Jerry:
AH, thank you for that!
In the context of the comic, it really made no sense to me
It still makes no sense in the context of the comic, but at least now I understand where it comes from!
for those who are thinking back to the Teen age pregnancy strip. It out right stated their doubt a 13 year old could even have children, never suggesting that lily was 13 her self.
I believe the best comparison would be asking a human about how they keep their 70 year olds from getting pregnant.
@ pretty flacko:
Yeah he is lucky

.
Gee, I hope Woo’s kits were conceived around Monday, March 17th, 2014!
If so, maybe he can use the blessing to convince Lily that her kits are protected and that he should be able to see them.
Yeah, the kits are totally not gonna see their dad for a teensy while.
Soon enough, Lily gonna be overrun by the kits hyperactiveness, then she’ll finally call Woo for help.
@ badwolf:
Oh, man…
It’s like I predicted the future! 😀
