It’s So Meta, Even This Acronym!
- Zoey: Ugh! This author is the worst!
- Michelle: I thought you liked his books?
- Zoey: I liked the lively world and interesting characters in his early stuff, but now he’s just pandering to his audience in the worst way possible.
- Michelle: In what way?
- Zoey: The newest book in his series contains nothing but corny wish-fulfilling fantasies, as if it were lousy fanfiction.
- Zoey: What makes an author betray all his ideals like that?
- Michelle: Don’t let it bother you. There’ll always be spineless worms who easily succumb to the temptation of quick fame and money.

Hello,
there was a joke? *blink* *blink* I couldn’t care less about what Zoey says, because I was wondering why the heck Michelle is kissing her.
– Did Michelle know that Zoey would totally zone out and not notice what she’s doing?
– Did I miss an update?
– Is Zoey dreaming?
I have the feeling that there are more strips in this comic that:
– give us a unbelivable and confusing situation like this at there end only to be revealed to be something totally different with a cool explanation
then
– random ones that are out of continuity.

I’m so confused, because in that old comic strip, it was Zoey that was just staring and admiring Michelle, and Michelle was admiring some guy (or guys don’t remember), and Michelle tells Zoey that she’s looking the wrong way. I’m wondering if that was intentional.
You should show us how their relationship developed into what we see here.It’ll be pretty intresting to see some “yuri” in a comic like this. I personaly am a fan of it, so ill come back if you guys decide to carry on with this idea, other than that good luck with the comic ;).

The joke is that Zoey is talking about the author of the book she’s reading putting too much fan service into their story, while the authors of THIS comic are having Michelle kiss Zoey for the sole reason that a lot of fans wanted them to get together… “fan service”. The description of the comic further backs this joke by claiming that the strip is Meta, AND that the acronym for the description spells out “I.S.M.E.T.A”
If you feel that some of the strips in this comic make no sense, you should probably analyze it over a few more times. The jokes can take ALOT of thinking sometimes, and it’s actually really clever how they pull them off. It’s safe to say that you cant read this comic like you would with every other “slice of life” comic out there. 🙂

…Are you referencing XKCD? ‘Cause I swear I’ve seen that “So meta” statement in one of they’re comics before.
I just reread every comic since October 2013 in hopes of finding out when Zoey and Michelle got together. So apparently it was just a meta joke?
