[0715] Larisa Learnt A Thing
└ posted on Thursday, 3 September 2015, by Novil
- Sandra: Why on earth did you send Landon a naked photo of yourself with such an insecure app?!
- Larisa: I… really didn’t think that through.
- Sandra: You can say that again!
- Larisa: But I’ve already learnt a very important lesson from the whole thing.
- Sandra: Good!
- Larisa: Before sending a naked pic, always make sure to remove all pimples and stuff with Photoshop. Because you never know how many people will look at it later.
- Sandra: Doubleplus ungood!
hmmm…odd. i’ve always thought Larisa would be over fastidious about her complexion.
@ Kanrabat:
On a different note, she used an unofficial, likely illegal add-on to the app, spammed everyone, and with a picture of herself naked, no less. That could be considered violating someone’s rights, forcing your nude pics on them. Think of if I guy started shoving pics of his dick in your face and whether you’d want him to go unpunished. Hell, she has a bunch of restraining orders, remember? She’d going to jail for sexual harassment for good reasons, as well as stupid ones.
You know, Woo was right when he said that kids never learn what their parents/teachers want them to learn.
Fourth one in on this story arc. Still nothing terrible to freak out about. Would be nice if “kid did stupid thing! Giggle and move on…” could be the end of it.
It’s kinda surreal seeing this issue in this kind of comic. I’m waiting for something bad to happen, but those bad things are all serious long-term type of events.
Larisa is gonna spend time in jail. There’s basically no way around it.
.
What? Illegal?
it may be “Unauthorized” but there is nothing Illegal about adding software to a Device that YOU Own.
.
Even Our Bought & Paid For congress hasn’t had time to get That Far into the weeds of the various Software Wars.
Doub….wha? O.o
If I used this mysterious ap myself, would today’s punchline leave me something other than baffled?
@ Jerry:
Except that it allows the app to be used in a way that breaks laws in itself. A third party is not allowed to send a message to every single one of their *own* costumers a couple “I agree” terms of use page or two. To make a program that does that to a different companies app? It would break a couple regulations to say the least. And since she said that she must have “misconfigured” it, that means the add-on was meant to do something *else* with the capability to access every single SnapPic user in North America’s inbox.
@ Jerry:
Don’t forget to add in the money made by contacting the inmates out to work.
Actually, what you do here is send it in an email encrypted with PGP. Then the receiver decrypts and all is well. Look it up on wikipedia for more info.
