I really like how this story arc turned out and think that it will be a great way to begin the new year.
- Michael: Do you have everything for practice, Thomas?
- Thomas: Yup.
- Larisa: Does someone have a c-r-u-s-h?!
- Luna: EEEK!
- Luna: No one must ever know!
- Larisa: Not even Thomas? That doesn’t sound like a promising dating strategy if you ask me.

to be fair to Luna, it’s certainly realistic to be too shy or timid to actually ask someone out. Then again, provided you aren’t too pushy, Larissa’s not necessarily being unreasonable in trying to give her a relatively subtle push. (as a rough guide, gently encouraging someone to pluck up the courage to ask someone they have a crush on is fine, but (for example) the classic trope of locking two people in a cupboard/room and not letting them out until they have talked? Is fine to joke about, but not to actually act as if you are going to do. Or worse, to actually do. (more or less, it’s because a romantic relationship shouldn’t be forced))
That, and I would be entirely unsurprised if Luna was worried about giving any school bullies ammo to use against her- she’s more-or-less the perfect target for bullies. (I’m not saying it’s her fault- just that bullies look for certain things when picking their victims, and Luna- being somewhat insecure at a minimum- meets most of them. Depending on the bully, her friendship with Larissa- of Cloud- may or may not protect her- it depends on how likely the bullies think Larissa-or Cloud- finding out is. if they think it’s likely, they won’t bully Luna, since the consequences would be too high. If they don’t, they probably would bully Luna, albeit probably being fairly careful to make sure Larissa and/or Cloud don’t find out.)
@ sstabeler:
On your first note, I’ve had that done to me. Let the records show it does nothing but put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
Onto the comic itself, I smell plot brewing. My current bet is on Larissa’s plan working, but not in the way she plans. That is either Luna gains a lot more confidence but doesn’t end up with Thomas, or she does, but in a way only tangentially related to Liz’s schemes.
Wow… Is Luna Japanese? Because it so reminds me of the Japanese romantic mangas with overly shy lead characters…
@ sstabeler:
You’re over-analyzing this, I think.

Lol it was just a joke… It is just notorious how overly shy Japanese are…
Ooh! A new arc? Awesome! =D
Larissa is a perceptive one. Usually girls take more care to conceal their emotions, and you’d have to read their diary or look at the doodles in their math notebook to figure it out.
Boy, I hope this arc is as cute as the other Luna arcs have been. Can’t wait!
Larisa the matchmaker is at it again! i wish that after this arc is done we’ll have more cloudxsandra fluff. i miss it a lot…
Anyone think it will end up this way?
Thomas: Luna!! Please get your crazy friends to stop their attempts at matchmaking! I’ll do anything!!! Anything!!!
>:=)>
It’s a very sound dating strategy, Larissa. Sticking to it kept me out of any trouble
and fun.Given Larissa’s precocious involvement in the lists of love I suspect that she’s probably the classes reigning authority on dating strategies. Luna will be eased into romance sooner or later. Sooner if Larissa has to break out the flamethrower!

Not in my experience.
The Japanese women I’ve known maintain the Shy Facade perfectly.
Right up until the moment they Decide.
Then, they make their Move and the guy better be Ready to say “How High?”
The way that Japanese women have Adapted Valentines day to their needs is a good example.
Unlike the American way where both parties exchange gifts on Feb 14th, in Japan, the Women present the Men with gifts of Chocolate on Feb 14th.
Chocolate which is divided into categories of “Love Choco” and Obligation Choco”. The names should be self explanatory.
Then, One Month Later, on March 14th, the Men, having been given 30 Days Notice, are expected to respond Appropriately.
It’s not so much about Shyness as it is about “Appropriate Good Manners”.
Oh, and as far as the March 14th Gift mentioned above, it’s NOT Chocolate.
The day is called “White Day” because the gift should be something White that the woman can treasure as a “Keepsake” for the day.
Especially if it is in response to a gift of “Love chocolate”.
I understand that Pearls are a very popular “Love” gift while a really Nice Handkerchief is appropriate for “Obligation Chocolate”.
Japanese women often Collect high quality handkerchiefs, evidently.

The Japanese version of Luna’s name is Yue.
Ya know, Novil. You kinda remind me of a user from equestria daily. Do you ever go there?
I’m sorry, but I can’t get behind the opening dialogue. No football team has that positive of a dynamic, and everyone is too busy making sure they have everything they need to ask each other if they have what they need. It’s not their responsibility, anyway.
I bet she was staring off into space thinking about someone else. Like Cloud.
@ Greenwood Goat:
In this comic there’s at least a 50% chance that any matchmaking attempts will, in fact, be cute and successful.
@ Pony-kour:
Don’t you dare… On another note Larisa has a gigantic plot there and i can already see it being as confusing as all her other plans
Twist: She actually has a crush on Michael.
Plot sense is tingling. My bet is that she isn’t attracted to Thomas, but to his friend.
While Luna’s nearly terminal shyness is completely normal for someone with a crush at her age, it is also not surprising given Larissa’s short expected lifespan that she does not think much of letting things slip away without a least making an attempt to get what you want.
How much do you want to bet the two guys are gay
Meanwhile Woo and Lily are guest-starring on today’s Pinkerton comic.

This looks like the start of a non-serious or semi-serious story line. In real life, someone of that age taking Larisa’s advice on dating would be asking for problems. Hopefully the problems here will be more of the fun style rather than the scarred-for-life style.
Unmaker wrote:
Anyone taking Larissa’s advice HERE is also going to have a few Problems.
Larissa’s not living in the “Fast Lane”.
She’s living in the Hyperspace Lane.

Well, she does have a point here, tho.
Not telling your crush what you feel won’t get you nowhere.
This is irrelevant, but has anyone noticed that Sandra’s dad looks like Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan?
I like this. I wish to see how this turns out.
As others pointed out, the twist could be Michael that’s the guy she actually likes

That would actually be pretty funny even it’s unlikely
You know what they say… “Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.”
I’m not sure if taking dating advice from Larisa is such a good idea.
Though she definitely knows how to fire people up. In every kind of way.
But yay for Luna appearing again!
Landon= “Thomas, Larissa wants you to date Luna.”
Thomas= “Hey, nothing against Luna, but why should I date her just because Larissa wants me to?”
Landon= ” . . . . . Larissa has just built a xenon-laser flamethrower.”
Thomas= “Luna! MARRY ME! NOW!”

Actually, there is no proof that it is Thomas she was making Eyes at.
Larissa just Assumed it was Thomas because She finds him “Yummy”.
Luna might have other criteria.

Actually, that’s pretty much exactly where it will get you. 😉
Best hope Luna was not daydreaming about Landon!
Jerry wrote:
Since we only have one panel to judge here, we don’t have the full picture (see what I did there?).
Larisa has been longer on this scene and might have witnessed additional ones in the past. So she will know more about it than we do.
That being said, it’s still fully possible that she’s jumping to conclusions as to the target of Luna’s crush. Knowing Luna however, it’s highly likely that she’d correct Larisa instantly. (Before even thinking about any possible ramifications.)
@ Jerry:
Sir, could you please limit your use of capitalization to proper nouns and the start of sentences?
@ John:
Speaking of Lar’s issue, do we know if Landon knows or not?
I don’t think we’ve seen how his overall school grades are, but if he’s above proficient in biology or chemistry or just likes the subjects in general it’s possible if he finds out about her impending end he might go to unconventional extremes to save her.
@ Jerry:
She’s living at Ludicrous speed!
(Spaceballs reference)
I think it’s great how much of a heart of gold Larisa has, at least for a pyromanic sociopath…

Larisa occasionally shows some of the warning signs. But not enough to fall under the sociopath label, if you ask me.

Honestly I think she just doesn’t give a **** about life’s ‘ rules’ since it’s screwed her over so much by this point.
