Naw ya want really gross they made it legal to SELL unpasteurised/RAW milk on the east coast ya know the thing that was killing people with E-coli, salmonella, listeria, and Campylobacter
Technically speaking only those of northern anglo saxon descent can actually digest milk due to having a mutated lactase production gene, so it all started with them

“Because predators eat those all the time. But all animals except for humans stop drinking milk period after infancy.”
Not necessarily. At one point I had three adult cats on my property. They were all well fed so this wasn’t a desperation thing, but one of the toms would constantly nurse off of his sister when she wasn’t nursing her kittens.
Its a mutation that allowed our Caveman ancestors to drink milk after childhood. This allowed them to survive in areas where sources of protein are rare, like Northern Europe.
@ Trimutius:
Milk is natural. That’s why every mammal species creates it (except maybe whales, because I’m not sure about them). Humans are supposed to develop lactose intolerance as we age, just like other species of mammal do, but some humans have a mutation that prevents that lactose intolerance. In other words: Milk, natural; lactose intolerance, natural; drinking milk after growing up, also natural for many, but just a mutation.
Well, sorta. It’s more like wearing sheep fur, or cow skin, which we also do.
Ironically, we find wearing human hair fine, drinking human milk wierd, and wearing human skin creepy.
Also, until fairly recently, many European recipes used animal blood as an egg substitute, yet when it’s suggested someone use their own blood, things get wierd fast. I suppose encouraging them to use their own eggs might not go over any better, especially not if we encourage the use of fertilized eggs.
Sidenote: had a friend who wanted to use his own blood to make merengues. Why? For science! And because he can! And because it’s 2016!
I mean we probably just developed this taste out of a desire to have a greater variance of nutrients in our diet. Not many animal species have the sheer range of foods we regularly consume. My question is who was the first weirdo who thought it was a good idea, with such a limited knowledge of nutritional health at the time?
When you’re **hungry**, it’s surprising how your taste changes. At some point you will eat anything that doesn’t eat you first.

@ Rex Vivat:
And a little while later, they will quite happily puke it all up again.
ITT: Overanalyzing.
@ Novil:
Do raccoons eat anything from other animals? 😛
And humans are oddly freaked out by the notion of an adult human drinking milk from a human generally…

Your one to talk, your species spends your life stealing god knowswhat kinda waste from other species!
If he thinks milk is disgusting, wait until he finds out about cheese
Delicious, disgusting cheese
inb4 Sandra talks about Woo’s dietary habits.

@ kiki:
I assume you are referring only the the issue of excessive calories. There is also reduced fat milk, and it IS nutritionally dense.
