My grandmother died today. Despite her worsening physical condition over the last few years, her death came rather sudden. At least she didn’t have to suffer. But it was nonetheless a terrible week for my family. I had a very good relationship to her, especially during my childhood.

No matter how long its expected, or how sudden losing loved ones is always hard
I’ve lost both sets of Grandparents, my mother, a brother, and some good friends. No matter how much you feel alone in your sadness, remember far more people than you realize understand and feel for you
Sorry for your loss Novil. Doesn’t matter how expected it might be, it’s always a shock. Take time with your family and friends and if you know them, her friends too. Tell stories, laugh and cry together.
My sincere condolences. My maternal grandmother, “Grossmutter”, was a significant part of my life, helping to raise me.
(My paternal grandmother was “Grandmother “, but “grossmutter” was the special one.
To this day, I have no idea why that sole German word was used for her 🙂

Mein herzliches Beileid, ich fühle mit Ihnen. I just returned from a weekend with my family, commemorating the loss of my father ten years ago, and I still miss him.
My condolences and thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow. It is never easy losing a loved one. My own grandparents too are getting older and sadly sooner then later I too will mourn their passing.
I hope all the good memories you have of her comfort you in this time.
