- The Devil: You can’t pass judgement on Sandra! I’ve always played by the rules!
- Thomas J. God: Upper management says otherwise!
- Thomas J. God: You’ve clearly violated § 1,612,864 s. 4(1) of the Holy Code of Elysium!
- The Devil: But–
- Odin: That voice!
- Odin: WAARGH!!
- Thomas J. God: Oh my God! It’s Odin!

Shouldn’t it be “Oh my me!”?
And also Luna has some weird shit again…
But… I… where did Larisa get a box full of Odin? And if she has access to gods in boxes, why did she ever need to team up with the devil? I don’t even…
Called it! Called it on Tv Tropes!
Ah yes…’the box’.
Now I’m dying to figure out the backstory of how Odin got IN the box and how Larissa knew to give it to Luna that far in advance!

That’s Larisa’s doing. Back in strip 663 she gave Luna a box to not open before she got home, and in strip 668 she told Luna it was a plot device containing a deus-ex-machina, for use when all would seem lost. And what is the title of this strip?
The title card of this arc said that someone would die in this arc… I wonder if it is Thomas J.

Lawl, Luna is back, awesome. Larisa’s mystery plot device has finally arrived! 😀
Now I have to wiki Odin and see what I missed…
I was thinking luna have to use it like a last hero move but it is a automatic Dues ex Machina. i don’t now how i file about that.
see [0668] Deus Ex Machina: http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2015/03/19/0668-deus-ex-machina/
That box is not the same box, what Larisa give Luna (in “Deus Ex Machina)?
http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2015/03/19/0668-deus-ex-machina/
Ahahahahahaha.
This is fantastic! Luna deus ex machina FTW!
@ Senok13:
It looks like the same box as in 663 to me. If you think it’s different shading, than maybe it was wrapped up in gift paper.
Anyway… so while Sandra has been talking to Woo, a sapient woodland creature that speaks perfect English, Luna’s invisible friend has actually been Odin! 😉
Thomas J. and the Devil are incognito, but Odin is dressed for war! 😆
It would be interesting to know what § 1,612,864 s. 4(1) actually states… Where can I find Code of Elysium?
Not sure if Novil planned waay ahead, or if the box was planted just so it could be used whenever useful later with no specific idea in mind.
@ HMRC4EVR:
Looking at the tags for ‘Odin’ I see he was referenced earlier in the arc http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2016/08/08/0810-the-divine-comedy-page-8/
This also help explains why he may not be very happy with management, and may allude to circumstances of why he ended up in a box… still no idea why or how Larissa would have an Odin in a box.
@ HMRC4EVR:
My guess some of it involves Loki contrary to Marvel Cinematic Universe among Loki’s symbols is fire. So it is entirely possible that Larisa’s love of fame got Loki’s attention at some point and with his scheming somehow handed her a box Odin for some purpose or other…
Of course that is a shot so dark that I could probably miss the broadside of a battleship with my guess.
@ Xezlec:
http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2015/03/19/0668-deus-ex-machina/
It’s a plot device!
Waaaiiiit…. is Upper Management Novil and Powree? Is the someone that’s going to die in this arc going to be them???
How many god like beings live in this town. So far we got animal gods, a little god that came from a volcano after three guys die, Odin, a devil with god like power for making deals, then a god that name God most of the time. Now I’m waiting for Zeus to pop out of no where then we’ll have a party for the gods and goddess in this comic town.
at last, we finally see more of that strip and luna
Wednesday’s strip is going to be interesting . . .
Deus ex Machina = “God from a machine”. The box is a LITERAL Deus ex Machina. I love it!
….aaaaand God saying “Oh My God” which ISN’T self-referential. I love it even MORE.
By this point I feel like it’s less of a Deus Ex Machina and more of a Chekhov’s Gun.
So Sandra and Larisa have both sold their souls to the devil by now? (Comic 71 and this arc)
I don’t know if this was mentioned in an earlier comment section, but I suspect that Novil is a fan of Robert Heinlein and his later book JOB: A COMEDY OF JUSTICE. Spoiler but relevant: The latter parts of the book involve Lucifer protecting the heroes from an arbitrary Jehovah. Odin ultimately testifies against Jehovah before upper management.. I appreciate the tribute.
That’s Luna and not Larisa. @ Xezlec:
@ Grace:
Nah Sandra never accepted payment she was too freaked out by the fact her hyperbole was answered 8)
@ Trimutius:
Totally was thinking the same 🙂
@ Night-X: Well the volcano god was from a dream so I don’t think we can count it.

Luna owns the TESSERACT?!
I can´t be the only one who think its funny teht “God” say “Oh my God” I wonder to who he Pray 😛
Darn God should have said: Oh myself!
OK… so explain this thing about “two ex-machines.”
Were these machines recycled? Like… into razor blades?
lord Martiya wrote:
He didn’t ask where Luna got it, he asked where Larisa got it.
We do have a good idea how Odin got in there, but not how that box ended up in Larisa’s hands.
Well, the line in that last panel raises some interesting theological questions for the Wooniverse, doesn’t it?
@ HMRC4EVR:
May have something to do with “Upper Management”
I’m going to guess Upper Management exists beyond Tom God, Zeus, Odin etc. as either some sort of Lovecraftian Horror or some sort of Alien species.

I know you were joking, but too late, I already grabbed the link. 😛
@ The Other Mike:
Both universes have Tardis Technology! Does that mean Odin owns a Sonic Spear? He calls it Gungnir.
Deus ex Arca, lol.
Xezlec wrote:
Well… I would be interested in getting a box of Freya, Hathor and Aphrodite…
but likely
Bet you guys thought the Odin talk earlier in the arc was just a one-off gag, huh?
http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2016/08/08/0810-the-divine-comedy-page-8/
@ Trimutius:
It probably says “Thomas J. God always wins.” His lawyers shuck it in …
“WAARGH!!” [Ork (W40K) battlecry; also the term for an Ork migration/holy war/pub crawl]
So Odin is an Ork. Who knew?
Okay out of EVERYTHING that has happened in this story arc, this is the one thing I did NOT expect to happen.
So, I’m a long time lurker and first time poster, but I couldn’t stand by without pointing out that this deus ex machina is literally a “God out of the machine”.
So way back when Larissa told Sandra what the box was, she wasn’t being evasive or silly. It was literally a god in a box. Well played, Novil. Well played…

Words cannot describe how epic this story arc is
