- Sandra: Aww! Look at that cute crocodile plush! Could you win it for me?
- Cloud: Sure thing, Sandy!
- Sandra: Cloud is such a gentleman, Woo. He’s everything a girl could ever wish for in a boyfriend.
- Carnie: First prize!
- Cloud: Catch, Sandra!
- Sandra: AUGH!
- Sandra: On the other hand, it can also become a heavy burden when your partner constantly exceeds your expectations.

Never understood the purpose of those big plushies…
Come on Sandra, a perfect boyfriend would be boring anyway, never mind the fact that if Cloud always delivered, wouldn’t you feel pressured to also always deliver?
Why send heaven’s legions after Sandra when her boyfriend will eventually do the job for them?
Constant burden when… heavily exceeds your expectations
I still want to see Sandra/Cloud and Larissa/Landon on a double date. That could be a lot of fun.
This is nice though; the kids get a chance to be kids a little while longer.

Is fhe time of post broken or are you hexy little buggers acessing this before release??
Come on Sandra, you honestly can’t think that Ye Thuza hasn’t trained Cloud to hit a target at 10 paces? That’s basic training for all hero types, just like being unable to hit anything deliberately is standard for all evil nook types.
@ Thisguy:
That should be mook, not nook, stupid autocorrect doesn’t recognise mook? Where has it been the past decade?
Imagine if Woo talked while they are having fun…
“Always be careful what you ask for . . . “
@ Trimutius:
The really big ones can sub in for a mattress.

Imagine if Woo talked while they are having a fun time…
@ xhunterx:
They are Patrons, so they occasionally get a sneak-peek.
CATCH!!!
@ xhunterx:
They are patrons they get early access probably.
Hi!
Girls… always complaining about everything, even the fact that you are an amazing boyfriend…
This reminds of full size bernardiner plushie I recieved as toddler and almost full size panda my sister recieved.
Sandra is floored by her boyfriend’s success! >:=)>

I actually think Cloud’s behaviour would be very embarassing in real life, though Novil probably didn’t mean it that way. Novil probably wanted to show him as an overachiever in regard to superior marksmen skills, but the thing is, even if you hit with every single shot (which is indeed not THAT difficult for a trained marksman, those carnival targets are suppose to be hitable by amateurs), you need so many hits for a giant plushie that it is still very expensive to buy that many shots. So going for the biggest one is basically throwing money at your girlfriend (“Look, I’m buying you expensive stuff, please love me!), which already is a questionable approach even if you can easily afford it and which is outright awkward if a highschool kid does it.
someguy wrote:
I’ve no idea how many perfect shots you’d need in real life for a giant plushie. But it sems in this comic, it’s not that many. According to the sound words, I’m counting three shots, so it couldn’t have been that expensive, and I don’t think Cloud (or his family) is rich anyway. Doesn’t seem to me like Cloud is desperately trying, more like something that’s easy for him and just happened without him really thinking about it.
I also think that’s actually the punchline of this comic strip, that it would be kind of embarassing. So I don’t really understand what exactly you’re criticizing here. I think it’s okay and funny.

Actually, more like he’s not even trying to brag with his skills or money
I’d really love to be able to edit my posts here … too bad that’s not possible. :-/
@ AndiJN:
I already said that Novil probably didn’t mean to make it a Money thing, I just pointed out that it WOULD be one in real life, carneval shooting ranges don’t give you the opportunity to complete a few ridiculously difficult shots and then win the main prize for a few bucks, they rather demand you to hit so many relatively easy targets that they effectively still get at least their buying costs for the prize from you even if you have a perfect run. Thus in real life, Cloud would probably just have spent 100+ bucks.
First Cloud solves an invisible maze faster than Sandra can, then he easily wins first prize at a game she doesn’t even try… Could this lead to Sandra having an inferiority complex?
AndiJN wrote:
For all we know, Cloud could have just hit 30 moving targets the size of a penny. A lot can happen in between panels. I’m reminded of an awesome episode of Columbo:

(Jump to 6 minute mark, the guy plays a game…) 😆
Seriously, watch Columbo. The show was the best cop show ever IMO.
Remember people, if you have to be a man, eifher be cloud, or clouds dad, that way women will never have any reason to complain in first place, even if they want to 😂
i’d like that pluche croc xD
*insert Wilhelm scream in panel 3*
that’s not a carnival prize, that’s a fresh kill from a random encounter offscreen
someguy wrote:
True, but Cloud probably also has several perks that allow him to hit multiple targets every turn.

I agree. I found it amusing to see Leslie Neilson in a serious part considering how famous he later became for comedic roles (e.g. in Airplane!). His performance is even better in another Columbo episode in which he plays the finacee of a woman who murders her brother and tries to make it look like she mistook him for a burglar.
the thing I hate about Carnival plushies is that they all made with the hard styrofoam pellets! grrrr
So Novil, I’d love to know. Is this a nod to the Winslow?

This is exactly what I thought as well! XD
I’d recognize that dopey look anywhere.
Sandra look on the bright side. This is a perfect new bed for Woo 🙂

Did our main characters get another growth spurt? They look taller again.7
someguy wrote:
In real life, to get the good prizes, you have to complete essentially impossible shots. Carnival games are usually rigged in one way or another, just being a good aim doesn’t cut it.
But Cloud is an anime hero, in a pinch he can do the impossible.
GnarlyDoug wrote:
Doesn’t much look like the Winslow to me, but I suspect Phil would gladly loan him if for a story arc, he’s not using him in Girl Genius.
Edgewalker_001 wrote:
I wondered the same, but this one looks more like baby on Henson’s Dinosaurs show.
Haha. *facepalm*
Actually, Cloud might have done more than just three of his shots as Sandra was talking to Woo.
xhunterx wrote:
That’s Patreon reward for $3+ pledge, early access to episodes, as soon as they are drawn (before the official release sometimes)
We all suspect Cloud must carry the prize for the rest of the day though…
I’m not seeing complaints, just a descriptive commentary about partners. That’s a win in my book. Kudos to you, Cloud my friend.
Next time Cloud, go for the tiger.
