Whoa, whoa, when did this comic become 18+ only?
This tunnel targets ones most intimate fears
For a second I thought that was Thomas J God…
There should be a state law against this level of horror or something.

It’s as if the tunnel was made just to scare Sandra specifically (and Cloud to a lesser degree i.e. the ‘prettier girl’ sign). Almost makes me wonder if each person in the tunnel sees a different set-up!
Do you know how much my I laughed when I read Chongqing? It is very true, though you left one thing out, the beer. THe worker sit around drinking beer for lunch, before going back to work.
Sign: ONLY TWO THINGS ARE CERTAIN: DEATH AND TAXES
Taxman animatronic: *laughs evilly as it unscrolls an endless tax form*
Grim Reaper animatronic: *ushers the train on while glancing nervously at the taxman*
Sandra: *whimper*
Cloud: *hugs Sandra*
P.E. teacher animatronic: *pops up* It’s DODGEBALL time! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Cloud and Sandra: *dive for cover*
>:=)>
is that thomas j god?!
LOVE Woo’s “I don’t get it” expression in the last panel.
So Thomas J God got a new gig as a zombie math teacher in a cheap horror ride.
…I’m not sure how I feel about this.
Personalized tunnels. Yay for the wonders of Virtual Reality tech.
Whoever did this was creative indeed. I wonder if this screw is resupplied automatically, and you can keep yours as a souvenir.
By the way, they’re entering & leaving the tunnel of horror, but the worker guy was working on the tunnel of terror. Is this another meta scary thing for bookkepers and lawyers?
And if i was doing this tunnel, I would’ve certainly tried to hit a whatever left of 4th wall, making them know that they’re just some characters inside a writer’s head, so much for the free will etc.
Woah, true to life scares there! >_<
Why is the first one scary? I mean Sandra is a math buff.
@ roguebfl:
From what I can see, there is no calculation but it’s clear that the teacher won’t accept that.
They could have added ‘come and dance with daddy’…
roguebfl wrote:
Well isn’t the biggest fear of most math buffs, that they embarrass can’t themselves, by not knowing the answer to am math question?
it’s not about the scary tricks, it’s about how you present them XD
I agree with the other commentators: That teacher IS Thomas J. God.
But why wasn’t there anything there to scare a raccoon?
The lowest bidder thing is actually pretty scary, I can see how it could work in real life too.
Seems to be built by xkcd’s black hat 😛
“This tunnel of terror was constructed by the lowest bidder in Chongqing, China.”
Thank God, this is the “Tunnel of Horror”…
Very a spook
And that was always the scarier thing about those fairs that pop-up overnight. Shoddy mechanical maintenance.

Well… No? Math is about working using logic to solve problems, it’s not about knowing the answer beforehand.
What IS scary however is math you can’t comprehend or even read because they’re too complex or too theoretical, the same way someone who can’t read can be scared of text.
@ New Number 2:
Given their abysmal level of quality control, you expect them to proofread?
Sandra doesn’t t need to worry, unless the “prettier girl” is called Aerith, Tifa or Larisa practicing her succubus skills. and in any case think Clouds mum might have something to say about it
The “prettier girl” bit is subtle. It makes Sandra worry that it might be true, while making Cloud worry that she believes it. Either way it’s damaging to one’s self-esteem.
But where’s the bit about being an utterly insignificant speck in an unimaginably vast, ancient, and indifferent universe? Where’s the Total Perspective Vortex?
Oh, right. Lowest bidder.

Look like it’s show the missing angle trig type problem
Nobody commenting that on one panel it says something it’s low chinese quality made, and on next panel there’s a blade scare, but from which the screws are indeed failing, which does not escape Sandra’s notice ? 😉
Darth Killer wrote:
Why, you think it needs any commentary? It’s obvious how scary it is.
Lowest bidder in China? And they still entered?
New Number 2 wrote:
Now that was really funny…until they fixed it. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Overall I definitely like this strip. It just gets better with each panel! …plus; some additional good suggestions from the fans.
@ Rei Rei:
I’ve seen them drink beer at lunch before going back to work in Germany, too.
roguebfl wrote:
That’s not a math problem, it’s an Alchemy symbol similar to the Transformation Circles from “Full Metal Alchemist”.

More like what is scaring our dear protagonists the most ? The falling axe, or the failing screw ? 😛
@ Greenwood Goat:
BOMBARDMENT!
reynard61 wrote:
No it’s not, it a pretty standard Inscribed Triangle vs Circumscribed Triangles Geometry problem, probably with a bit a Trigonometry finding the angled thrown in
I really like how they get into a tunnel of terror, but one of the tags states “love”
That last one was really clever! A jaded enough audience will never be frightened by a swinging pendulum (they aren’t allowed to hurt you after all) but that same type of person is the most susceptible to being terrified by a potential mechanical failure…
roguebfl wrote:
Really? Oh well. My math “skills” suck so badly that it might as well be Alchemy…
@ reynard61:
Alchemy is almost entirely math…
@ Greenwood Goat:
There is nothing more than DEATH and TAXES.
@ interventor:
I’m sure, and I’m making fun of the fact that the beer in China is only 3.5%. I’m sure beer in Germany is much better.
Well, the park owners know their target audience, that’s for sure!
Too scary. Won’t read Sandra and Woo anymore. 😛
I don’t know. Only one of those things would be of any concern to tigers, and then only ones that can read.

I saw something like that in a French comic series (paperback) named Zombillenium. It’s about a theme park of the same name, run by a vampire and that employs exclusively undead creatures. One of the attractions is a tunnel of horrors that detects the customer’s deepest fears and displays it; loneliness, spiders… Funny thing, the manager says they occasionally have to explain to a visitor why they see someone they know in there, a teacher or mother-in-law.
