‘And I could see the look in its face: I was delicious!’
Ahh the small line between cute and scary
How does Luna know Vega’s name?
Sandra: “Oh, Woo’s introduced me to his entire family.”
Poor Lun of all people, off all potential victims she will need an anti-rabies vaccine very soon. I hope not.
Sadly, only Vega tried to eat Luna. This will simply end in a trip to the hospital and lots of blood. Possibly a few stitches. However, if all the kits tried to eat her, then we would have a much more entertaining, albeit equivalently concluding, scenario.

Or she named them all. Which isn’t too weird considering that she got raccoons to come in her house when she wanted them to.
I’ve gotta say, Vega is definitely my favorite of the kits!
And cue the conflict.
The next few pages are probably gonna be a big old rabies screening… and explaining what happened to the folks.
Way to help out there, Ben.
looks as if someone is taking after aunty ruth!
Does it only remind me on the good old YouTube viral video “Charlie bite my finger”?
For the young folk who hasn’t been around at YouTube yet at that time, here it is:

No cute baby raccoon, but a baby human, also on the hunt for prey… 😉
And this is why it’s a bad idea to have raccoon kits at a party.
It’s all fun and games until somebody gets eaten.
How are they going to explain this to their parents?
Still no human speech yet, but it still seems inevitable.
My wife faced this in her high school. Someone brought in a baby racoon rescue and during class it amused itself by chewing on things including the occasional student’s foot. Sad part was people would yell loudly in surprise, panicking the racoon, and then it would curl up and make the far too human calls of distress.
Nothing like feeling guilty while checking to see if all your foot was still there.
Of course, this was 40+ years ago when shedding a little blood in school (especially on the playground) wasn’t that unusual.
Vega isn’t vega-tarian…
@ anonymous:
CARLOS!
That’s my doggo right there
That’s exactly what baby raccoons do… they nibble, and if you don’t object they nibble harder.
Well, it was the best party ever until Vega shredded Luna’s arteries and she bled to death in everyone’s arms.
Too dark? Yeah, too dark.

I think Luna would look cute bleeding to death in everyone’s arms.
Honestly, rabies or bleeding will be the least of Luna’s worries. Did everyone forget about Lily’s deal with a god?
Let’s just hope she doesn’t accidentally do some sudden movement to hurt Vega…
@ GnarlyDoug:
But it was just a dream!
*Woo puts on hat*
Is it me, or does Vega stand out more than her brothers… mostly because she’s a little psychopath, but even then I can easily identify Vega but I can’t tell who the other 3 are at a glance.

It’s obvious. Female raccoons are brown.
Stolen from Wikipedia:
“The traditional name Vega (earlier Wega) comes from a loose transliteration of the Arabic word wāqi‘ meaning “falling” or “landing”, via the phrase an-nasr al-wāqi‘, “the falling eagle”.”
But I bet it’s just a pun off of “vegetable,” which is amusing, because Vega is interested in anything but. XD

I don’t think that curse can be put on humans without the consent of the human god. Lily’s prayer to bless Sandra with 20 children could not be answered without involving the human god, so I’d assume the same goes for curses.
Yes! Eat the child!

No.
And in the next page we see that the raccoons have turned on the party! Everyone but Sandra is a well chewed skeleton. And Sandra just stamps her foot angrily, but winds up giving Woo some love and attention not an hour later. Cause who can stay mad at that face?
@ Jack:
So what you’re saying is that the raccoons are in league with the skeletons in the Skeleton War.

Pretty sure she was named after the star Vega
Not a pun on vegetables.

The joke is that this comic is black and white and in the days of Lisa Moore, Lily was brown. Brown is not included in black and white, thus the joke. However, I agree that female raccoons are not brown.
@ oledakaajel:
I do miss Lisa. Color doesn’t work best for every comic, but you’re right, Lily be brown therefore probably Vega. 😀

@ Kuraimizu:
Yeah, I took that from the Wikipedia about the star… Didn’t stop to think… that she might be named just after the star. And not. Sharing a name with the star.
*feels mildly silly now*
This may or may not have happened when I was younger too.
