Question about comic printing companies
I’m currently looking for (comic) printing companies located in the United States that also ship to end customers as part of their service. So far, I’ve contacted Ka-Blam, TopatoCo and 4th Dimension. I already eliminated the Print-on-Demand companies Lulu and CreateSpace from my consideration.
If anyone of you knows another potentially interesting printing company, please write a comment in the comment section below. Your input is very appreciated!
Wasted Talent’s author printed her books through Hemlock I believe, their quality was quite good. Their website states they also do warehousing and fullfillment. However, they’re located in Canada, so if US printing is a requirement that probably wouldn’t work.
You could also try Archaia, that’s where Tom Siddell prints his work, although they only accept a very limited number of submissions a year according to their website. However their marketing is also much larger.
Then there’s Image, they’re a bigger name but they’ve also done webcomic runs, I know Meredith Gran printed Octopus Pie through them.
Maybe contact some US-based comic authors and artists and ask who they use?
I know Chris Hastings (of the webcomic Dr. McNinja) uses Topatoco. He’s pretty active on Twitter and would probably answer questions if you asked.
Did you try Antartic Press, they have Fred Perry (Gold Digger).
I can’t comment on it personally, but I’ve heard good things about PrintNinja. Implausibly good things. I don’t know if they offer the end customer service, though.
Subatomic Digital is a company based in Vermont, they print on demand and ship directly to the end user. I have never seen them print for web comics specifically but they print a variety of books for different clients so if you are still looking for a printer, I would contact them. https://www.subatomicdigital.com/
