I wanted to do a few unconventional strips before the start of the next long story arc.
- Title: A short history of Pixar
- Poster: What if bugs had feelings.
- Poster: What if cars had feelings.
- Poster: What if feelings had feelings.
- Title: Film Idea: Tim, the little ______
- Ed Catmull: Now you’re going too far, Pete.
- Novil: Hmmmm…
- Natasha: Lawyer?
- Bibiana: Definitely lawyer.
- Caption: Playmates: Just one of the many perks of being a world-famous webcartoonist.
- Novil: Excuse me?! That’s such a dumb, old cliché. Lawyers are people like you and me, with the same dreams, hopes and feelings.
- Novil: Lawyer, it is.
- Bibiana: I love how you can say such crazy things with a completely straight face.
“Playmates”
When did Richard join Pixar?

Well he DOES work in software
Can someone explain this?

Novil is describing his home office and his employees.

The inset in panel 1 is an unfinished joke about Pixar. Angry dude in subpanel 2 of panel 1 is Ed Catmull, President of Pixar (and Disney, IIRC) and tall guy with dark hair is Pete Docter, who was director of Inside Out and other Pixar hits. Novil and his “editorial staff” are debating the punchline of the comic in Panel 1.
If RIchard is interviewing or working at Pixar he’s a very lucky dude. That place is amazing. (I used to work about 3 blocks away from there, and would seriously consider eating one of my children to work there.)
Wait… what if lawyers had feelings?
Bugs DO have feelings.
… So, the Playmates’ names are “Bibiana” and “Natasha”?
Come on… Lawyers have feelings… just not same ones…
So the guy with sunglasses is Novil himself ?
You forgot what if toys had feelings and what if fish had feelings
@ Nathan B:
Also what if robots had feelings
‘Fraid I don’t get the “Tim: The Little” reference.
@ Mortar:
What if lines had feelings.
You forgot Coco – “What if Mexicans had feelings”
The line is the unfinished part of the joke, in the next panel Novil and the girls wondering what they should make the punch line. @ Mortar:
You forgot,
What if monsters had feelings?
And what if Dinosaurs have feelings?
And what if rats had feelings?
Wonder how many, “What if this had feelings,” Pixar will make? What next? What if food has feelings? Oh wait that was done in sausage party.
Oh wait, forgetting,
What if volcanoes had feelings?
Are the babes a reference to that John McAfee video?

Or was it, “What if dead Mexicans had feelings”
what if evil villains had feelings~
Not funny. Not even a little bit funny. Lawyers ARE, in fact, people like you, with hopes and dreams and feelings.
It took me several rereads to realize that everything after panel two was them debating what to “fill in the blank” in panel two with, and that panels one and two were a comic within the comic. This one was not obvious to me.
Perhaps in panel two if it was a box rather than a line? As it is it just kind of looks like an underline for “Tim the Little”, rather than a blank that needs to be filled in. As if “Tim the Little” was the entire title… which I thought it was the first few times I read this.
Where do I sign up for this glamorous profession?
What if emojis had fe….GET OUT! GET OUT, YOU AREN’T GOING TO BE IN CONTROL OF THE BRAIN ANY LONGER. Now what if Logan Paul had common sense?

Hey, try being a Librarian. Coz all the jokes are *so* funny.
@ Trimutius:
Yes , lawyers are always looking for technicalities so they can get off .
What if desk lamps had feelings?
Morals of movies
Toy Story : When you grow up, don’t forget what it’s like to be a kid.
Disney Cars : Slow down and enjoy life.
Wall-E : Hey america, you’re fat and lazy, that’s going to be your downfall!
Thats why Liar, Liar is so popular, because it says
“Don’t lawyers have feelings just like you and me?”
“Well, yes but…”
Lawyers dream that one day they will hope that they have feelings.
Okay now, I’m just going to point out Abraham Lincoln was a lawyer. And so was . . . was . . . there’s also . . . annnnnd that’s all I got. A significant got, mind you.
@ a lawyer named sue:
Sue (I hope that’s your real name and not a joke; one of my relatives is a lawyer named Sue IRL) I’m afraid that you just have to get used to the lawyer jokes, just as software people and scientists have to get used to people associating them with Aspergers. Basically all professions have jokes about them because jokes are a way of defusing things people are frightened of, and contact with professionals are often frightening.
One of the things that lawyers often have to tell people is “I’m sorry, how you feel about this has nothing to do with what the law says”, and that’s one reason lawyers get accused of having no feelings.
David the little _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _?
@ Mortar:
It’s supposed to be the title of the movie they’re working on. “Tim the Little [blank]”, then it pulls out to the cartoonist trying to decide what would be a funny word to insert in that blank. Thus, “Tim the Little Lawyer,” which will explore a world in which lawyers have feelings.
In fairness, Pixar also made The Good Dinosaur, a film with the premise “What if dinosaurs were boring?”.
“… a few unconventional strips …”? It seems like a fairly conventional fantasy to me.
I think Jollyjack’s assistant Helga is better than Novil’s ‘playmates.’
Not funny. I am Mexican and, while I get the joke (OK, I DO. actually find it a bit funny), it’s really annoying. @ GasBandit:
good self-portrait and you’re right the playmates are a nuisance, but you have to learn to live with them, the girls have their good points too
@ a lawyer named sue:
I know how you feel. I’m a beauraucrat. 😐
But I’m ok with a piss-take that’s as self aware as this one.
@ Ilmari:
*bureaucrat
Trimutius wrote:
Don’t you mean, “sane” ones? 😄
Feeling… like you lesser beings? Please, do not make me laugh. We lawyers rid ourselves of such things, and why would we ever desire to have them back?
A lawyer with feelings? How droll.
Oh, jeez, it was supposed to be Donald the little _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _? And I didn’t mean ‘duck’.

That joke _Flatland_ed.
I exchanged the underline with a dashed underline. Maybe that will make it a bit clearer that a word is missing there. Things like that are just hard to make clear in a comic. But I didn’t want to scrap the whole comic because of this problem.
