- Sandra: Can I see Larisa’s gift?
- Cloud: No…
- Sandra: Is it something naughty?
- Cloud: A gentleman never tells.
- Sandra: If you let me see it, I’ll use my maid costume in a truly baffling way that’s against all the rules of common decency.
- Paramedic: Critical blood loss caused by nose bleed! I repeat: Critical blood loss!

Honestly I’m not entirely surprised that young teens or even preteens might develop sexually despite media trying to claim otherwise, though I don’t think any stereotype should be treated as anything more that a broken clock right twice a day. Something to heed and give credit too when due, but not to the point of treating as an absolute law.
Otherwise I suppose you’re going to suggest that say blondes (like Sandra) are brain dead or that violent video games are a damaging influence on every player. And the latter is especially ridiculous as I think that geeks such as us are damaged from the start:-).
I first encountered the “excessive stimulation –> nosebleed” trope just last year in anime (MGX, if you must know). I’m wondering how long it’s been around before that, and where.
@ civiltongue:
I know it stems from a Japanese old wives’ tale, so I’d say it goes back pretty far.
There’s no effective defense against this.
SANDRA! PLEASE!!
I never understood the nose bleed thing that anime seems to love.
