- Richard: I guess that didn’t go so well.
- Hitomi: Hai.
- Hitomi: Yukiya said loves working so much! And even said that he doesn’t want children!!
- Hitomi: What is point of man if always at work and no children?!
- Richard: If you look at it like that…
- Hitomi: Why is he even man?! Should be robot instead!

@ MarqFJA87:
I’m not into workaholism myself, however I do feel that people should be allowed to work life on their own terms. If Yukiya enjoys work and doesn’t want to start a family, who is Hitomi (or any of us for that matter) to tell him that he can’t do that?

I have read that the Japanese tend to segregate by gender so men and women don’t have a lot of time to casually talk with th e opposite sex. It leads to a lot of wierd first dates including of women complaining that men ask about the color of their underwear. Would Hitomi’s questions about children on a first date may be the female equivalent of asking a girl about her underwear.
A typical Japanese salaryman eh?
We definitely need her to stay 😀 She’s awesome 😀

Speaking from my Long live experience only now. around 90-95% gay man dont wanna have Kids regardless of media who tries to tells otherwise and Always paints the picture of the “typical” kid raising gay couple.
Though i was more speaking of the sociatel Pressure of being expected to raise a Familiy.
i have no co-worker or Aunt walk up to me saying “Sooo when will you adopt a kid?”
its all more optional.
Speaking as a single guy who hasn’t yet fallen in love, I will say that a woman into anime and who wants children would have two major pluses in the “attraction” column for me, personally.
It is odd that children came up in a first “hi, I like you” conversation, but before we jump all over Hitomi about being aggressive, let’s consider that her abortive crush might have brought up that he doesn’t want a family because his work is so important to him. i.e., he might have brought it up, first.
Of course, if she’s awkward with her crush, she might’ve come on to him with “Hi you’re cute do you want to have babies with me” or something, but I don’t quite peg her as that personality type.
A career man who doesn’t want kids? Sign me up!

But not shallow rivers, I’d wager. My family actually has a walking stick made from one of the pieces of that ship, salvaged after its destruction.

@ Leomon:
I was going to mention both Merrimack and monitor were proven too be not very sea-worthy.
though they weren’t designed for it… or rather, monitor wasn’t.
the CSS Virginia (formerly USS Merrimack) was no longer ‘stormy-sea’ worthy and the monitor was built ONLY for the river/bay where the two fought.
Both sides of the conflict made VERY sea worthy ironclads.
The north even made sea going monitors with 2 turrets (with 6-foot freeboards or higher).
The south commissioned a UK ship builder to build sea-going monitors with 3 turrets.
the two were in fact built, but not delivered (named CSS/HMS Roanoke and HMS Black Prince).
As things turned out neither ‘triple’ ever saw combat… which was fortunate.
Seems the UK needed a few DECADES to get the turret mechanisms right.
