Yes! We got the delivery on the TeamLab Borderless promise! Definitely took pictures of my friends at that exact same spot!
I was wrong. Gun arm wasn’t disarmed…….

Shame, I liked her too. She should return every once and a while.
To those who think Hitomi looks like a teenager …
Compare her with Ye Thuza in this strip: http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2010/02/04/0135-aftermath/
Remeber: Ye Thuza is Clouds mother and her childhood probably had been much harder than Hitomi’s and Hitomi is trying for a “kawaii” look.
In other words: Ye Thuza is a married woman of probaly at least 30 years in that strip.
And Hitomi’s clothing style and twin-tails make her look at few years younger than she actually is.
@ Nick/Tyrong:
I’d say, If by time you have left midgar and arrived to next town you aint liking it all, you wont since it gets grindier and possibly slightly more annoying from then on; and I shall point that highlights of FF7 werent combat, gameplay or story …true highlight was just it was successor to highly acclaimed ff6, first ff outside nintendo platforms, first ff to be in 3d

While not 12, I do agree that she looks younger in first frame than in other frames she’s in. And I would say that it’s probably deliberate as she’s posing and cosplaying someone specific, although I have no idea who (is it someone from Final Fantasy?).
So I tried finding a link to ‘Time Jannie’ and it sends me back here. Whodaheck is Time Jannie?
@ AnotherBear:
I guess it stands for Time Janitor. Another (subtle?) nod to the FF VII Remake.
How about this?
The timer may represent Richard finally letting go of his deceased wife, like time has passed for him to move on.

Y’all goin to some pretty serious extremes here.
The ‘mundane’ option here is plenty tragic. They grow close as friends, maybe even develop some spark of romance, but their time together is limited. Very limited.

A possibility! Or time is up for playing around and they have to face that they are madly in love. But I guess it is time for Richard to realize that he has a schedule of meetings with customers. It would be if I was his boss. 🙂
I wonder how much of the plot is already set in stone, or how much (if at all) the discussions and theories in the comments might influence the story.

I think it’s simple as this; Richard’s time in Japan will be up, and he will be obliged to leave all this and go back home. What happens to him and Hitomi will depend on her willingness to leave Japan and her close family behind for him, and that would be a terrible struggle for her on many levels, especially since the relationship (whatever it amounts to) is a short and uncertain one. Won’t say it’s dead…

Not a high school girl. A lot of Asian women look “young” to Western eyes until their 30’s and 40’s. My own wife just turned 40, and it’s only in the last couple of years that she stopped getting carded.
I think it’s the facial structure, more neotonous in the East.
She looks young to Asian eyes, too. Plus, her crush looked fairly young, as well. He actually looked like he was a high school student, but I suppose he might just be a messy looking college student or new to the work force (some don’t go on to higher education). Hard to say.
@ Nick/Tyrong:
I get the feeling that you are being voluntarily provocative, and then are surprised that people are provoqued. You are not wrong not to like the game, that’s your right. You are the one saying everybody that likes it is wrong though, which seems a bit intolerant.
About the characters, yes they improve as you get to know them better. Don’t expect Barret to suddenly sprout a brain or Cloud to become extrovert, but you will learn to know them better, and hopefully like them better.
You say that Aeris, Tifa and Red XIII are the only likeable characters so far, out of 5 playable characters you met so far, no? So it seems rather positive… you like more than half of them.
If you do not like the gameplay though, maybe that is not your type of game? but you say that you like the battles, so what do you not like? The 3d pathing? It is a bit bad, and I prefer full 2d like the previous FFs, but this is actually a direct consequence of the time the game was made
Ah I reread your comments and you are complaining about the puzzles. Yes they are pretty bad, I agree about this. Honestly the main part of the gameplay is the actual fights.
I wish the writers would finish one freaking story. This is one of the most add comics I have ever read.

The age difference is mostly a you problem, as far as I can tell. Novil ain’t the best when it comes to social norms but this is the first time I’ve seen people call something that’s not an actual ethical issue in this comic an “issue.”
Hitomi is an adult; as is Richard. What they may decide to do with each other is up to them, and your obvious judgment (however unemotional you may portray it as) mostly just annoys others, rather than… what? Pointing out art errors? If you wanted to do that, you could’ve actually explicitly explained what about it makes her look young, and maybe even made recommendations about how to improve? But you didn’t do that. So what did you think you were communicating? And what did you think that would do?
If the only thing you were communicating was your opinion, why didn’t you realize that this would be the obvious response? If you did not want such a response, why did you comment at all? Why do you act like “some people” are at fault for getting upset at your comment, when you more than likely knew it would make others upset before you even posted it?
I don’t really get the rage about Hitomi’s age. Let’s say Richard was 24 when Sandra was born( being young and stupid), he would be 37 now. And let’s say Hitomi is 25. So what? I’m 41 and my girlfriend is 30 and nobody in our families or of our friends has any problem with it.
These days friendships (and relationships) between adults are more affected by common interests than same age or same workplace/neighborhood. The internet helped a lot to meet new people who shares the same interest, rather than hanging out with the same people you see everyday, even though you bare have anything in common.
I find it funny how people complain about age difference. My mother and father was 17 years apart. As I child I saw nothing wrong with that besides that my father had more white hair, what was left of it, and more wrinkles. What he may have lacked in vitality he made up in experience.
Their love was genuine and strong. A model for most. It wasn’t without up and downs, hut they always found a way, together.

I’d say Dremdin hit the nail on its head. These games just might not be the thing for you. It’s not your fault if “you don’t get it” and it’s definitely not you if everyone else seem to like the game.
Spoilers: not everyone does. Even Novil had a list of things that he hated on the original and despite many agreeing him, I’m of different opinion even from him. I likee the random battles and the turn-based fighting and thanks to the remake not having them, I might not even get it for that.
But yeah. “This era had so much better games too.” Is difficult in two ways. First, you’re not really forgetting that it’s 2020 now and 1997 then. Not really. To put yourself into such mindset… Is near impossible. We have so much to compare to that experience.
And, coming back to Dremdin… What were these “better games”? And were they also jrpgs? Or something else? Ag least some sort of rpgs? Unless they are, you’re really talking about chocolate bars against fruits here. Not whether apple was better than pear. And even the latter is more down to opinion of taste. XD
@ Nick/Tyrong:
You get the ability to swap out party members on the overworld very soon. The Materia System should beging to develop now since you should have 2nd level Spells in some as well as your first Enemy Skill. It’s basically an expansion on what you’ve played so far, if you don’t like that then it’s just not your thing. The puzzles were never the game’s strong suit, but there’s two I can think off throughout the entire game one of which is worth doing. The other is hard to do without either brute forcing it or using a guide, you’ve already guessed the Mayor’s password,, though so regardless of whether or not you got the Elemental Materia, you’re past that part.
There’s a really annoying CPR sequence followed by a tricky jump that’s easily sidestepped by not moving and just using the whistle, followed by a parade which is annoying. A secret party member who unlocking is less annoying thanks to the five choices being binary (you either continue and get them on the team, ot they disappear and you lose money) I guess that’s a puzzle? Then it’s pretty much just the code midway through disc 2. Pushing a button at the same time as Tifa or putting the pieces of the Midgar model in place aren’t exactly puzzles, they’re just keys. Wow, so challenging putting a key in a lock.
There’s a rudimentary game of another genre that you might be able to play before the CPR shit, it’s a pretty fun distraction up until the later part of disc 2.
And have you ever heard of Chocobo Breeding?
Plenty of stuff to do after Midgar and the world starts to open up. And you get to learn why Cloud is so guarded, why Tifa is a bitch, why Barret is so angry, why Tifa is a bitch, what Aeris’ goal is, why Tifa is a bitch, Nanaki’s real name, why Tifa is a bitch… Never was a fan of leaving Jessie like that, she’s best girl.
In the end what you’re playing is what set the standard for console RPGs for a long time.
Metal Gear Solid may have had a more cohesive plot, with more fleshed out characters ofver the ten hours of cutscenes, but when it came to the game’s scope and combat, well it’s a far more linear experience and the combat is both terribble and something the game encourages you tto avvoid both implicitly (by being terrible and not ending any non-boss fights) and explicitly (“Snake, don’t get into any fights, that’s an order.” – Codec People).
@ Breja:
Probably because she’s dressed as a schoolgirl for the photo shoot Richard’s helping her with.
Don’t worry fam, I ship, but I get the perception. The way some people dress and/or style their hairr can have an impact on how old they look.
I’m in my 30’s and when I’m clean shaven I am assumed to be 17-20.

@ Byteflush:
You’re complaining that a web comic involving a talking raccoon isn’t realistic?!?
So right when I got to the next town I began liking it more. Cloud became less of a wannabe tough guy. Barret… is mostly the same, but I don’t literally despise him. Puzzles are just bad, and will likely remain so. They are not well designed. Maps are likewise bad, and were a bad idea even for the time. Materia is a fine enough system that yes, improved once I got out of that terrible opening. It’s almost like the game was TRYING to make me hate it. Right after getting out of Shinra, the terrible and tedious model puzzle, the idiot bad guy (please, unpowered loser, come taunt the guy with the active gun arm for no other reason than to taunt, much like your idiot father did. You are smrt!) Sephiroth turns out to be a wackjob that’s easily set off. Put simply the villains have been garbage, even now. Just…. the stupidest people. “I’m a member of a species that humans were an offshoot from that were wiped out, cloned from an excavated specimen? KILL EVERYONE!” But overall the story isn’t bad, and again, the characters (except the villains) ARE now more likable. Sadly those who initially responded gave me ZERO reason to continue with what were TERRIBLE characters and gameplay.
@ Nick/Tyrong:
For me, the story is usually something that just happens while I’m playing a game. Final Fantasy 7’s story has become rather humourous for me over the years, since every named character appears to be traumatised by one thing or another.
Shinra are Jesse James of the James Younger gang in the remake, if you want seriousness you’d have to play that one. Shinra in the original are Jesse & James of Team Rocket, whenever they succeed at something it’s important to ask yourself “These guys did that?”
By the way you don’t know the whole story about Sephiroth, you’ve been lied to. I mean he did throw that tantrum, but that’s about the only accurate information you were given. Though if you stick with it, I would like you to tell me the main villain’s name, lots of people don’t seem to know who you’re following.
If you haven’t already figured out the button for the highlights, you can toggle green arrows for ladders, red arrows for exists and a finger pointing at Cloud on most screens. It makes it a little easier to know where everything is.
And there’s no breeding Chocobos until later. Not that you’d be able to afford it right now.
@ Threadnaught:
I figured out the highlight thing for the maps quickly. The X1 version has a little thing when you first start the game telling you the controls (with no actual explanation. Hey, ANOTHER crappy part of the opening! And people say Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey has a bad opening. It’s crap, but NOTHING compared to this garbage.) Just got off the boat, and… yeah, the only mini game I’ve liked has been the bike (a part most people seem to have HATED. Only part that pissed me off was seeing Barret jerk himself off with his gun arm, because he clearly wasn’t using it to HELP!) Anyway, I have the highlights on all the time, but they only partially help. Climbing the cables to Shinra was just dumb (And that swinging rope made it even worse…..)
@ Nick/Tyrong:
People hated the bike? I’m still bummed that you only get to do it twice.
Did you go to Fort Condor? It’s not a very deep or engaging strategy game, but if you missed it you won’t get another chance to play it until you get some form of transport which’ll allow you to get back on the boat. I hope you didn’t miss Ifrit, you only get one chance at Ifrit and Ramuh when they appear. When you’re able to go back to the Chocobo Farm, there’s a Materia you may have missed which when attached to an Elemental on a weapon, is pretty powerful.
And that giant snake you caught a Chocobo just to avoid? Well, if you have the Enemy Skill materia equipped, it teaches a pretty powerful Fire Spell when you get it down to 3/8HP. Yes, it was survivable at the time you first reached it, it will be survivable later even if you have to struggle with it.
Right, forgot about that timed jump when climbing up to Shinra HQ.
Well I assume you followed my instructions with Mr Dolphin and didn’t try too hard with the parade?
Let’s see, Gold Saucer has a few minigames that can earn GP. One that’s a RPS game against a cheating AI, one that has you on a roller coaster shooting stuff (worse than the RPS because there’s something to unlock), one with a Moogle, one that you’ve played before, one that goes hand in hand with a feature used heavily in disc 2 and a battle arena. You won’t be able to access some until your second visit.
Just make sure that for the one that is used in disc 2, you switch it to Manual control. Default is automatic and you always lose on automatic. Yes, it’s the mandatory one for this part of the game.
That should be enough for you until the next part.
I’m going to keep trying to make sure you’re warned about the worst aspects. There are some things we fans just don’t talk about, like Snow.
I suddenly feel even less welcome than you every time you assert that the whole game is trash. I just mentioned Voldemort by name.
Where’s his yellow Mustang?
