- Richard: Who are you?! And what do you want?!
- Time jannie: Your time’s up, Richard!
- Richard: What’s that supposed to mean?! I feel great and– My return flight!
- Richard: I’m too late anyway…! The plane’s already taken off.
- Website: Delay: 4 hours, 17 minutes.
- Time jannie: Come along!
- Hitomi: Richard!

Well its a lot less dark than most of us thought it’d be
QUICK! Someone save the ship!
Nu! If anyone deserves a happy ending, it’s Richard!
I love how she grabs his arm like “you’re not taking him”
Bwahahaha!!!
Thanks, I needed that 😀
wasn’t expecting this, but it looks like the ending will be some variation of
1. Richard gets his new passport and ID mailed to him so he can finally go home, and has to say goodbye to Hitomi.
Getting his passport and stuff ready, probably happened off screen.
And it looks like Hitomi’s and Richard’s feelings are mutual, so that is good, plot wise and for the shippers. also looks like the time jannie isn’t giving Richard a choice of leaving. it’s sad they aren’t getting to say goodbye. But the sudden separation will likely get them both to realise they like each other, and want to be together.
Though looks like Richard or Hitomi will have to confess their feelings over the phone or a video call.
1b. Does he confess his feelings, and ask her to leave japan and marry him?
1ba. Hitomi says yes and leaves japan, Richard gets a new wife, and Sandra gets a new mom.
or a new option
1c. After Richard leaves on his flight, Hitomi books her own flight and chases after him, to confess her feelings, and marry him. after the wedding, Sandra gets to know her new mother, and they become a happy family for a while
Man, Richard’s middle-age crisis isn’t pretty.
“No! To hell with my daughter! I want to stay as far away from her as possible and hang out with a cat-girl maid half my age!”
After his experiences on the flight out, I can imagine Richard not wanting to get on a plane ever again …
Stupid Richard. That’s what he gets for not banging Hitomi earlier. Now he is probably going to be friendzoned.
Damn those airlines employees are very forceful. Is it United Airlines?
Cute, how so many comments take the whole story serious and look for logical follow-ups when the plot is quite obviously more following “law of funny” than anything else… 😀 Don’t mix up SaW and Gaia regarding its seriousness. 😉
I had to read about the Time Jannies to understand the joke, but I still like it: some deus ex machina repairing the storyline by dragging Richard back to where he belongs and out of fantasy-(Mega-)Tokyo.
Wouldn’t exclude a sequel, but it’s not the first time that Richard at the end of a promising development stays single dad.

That… is not a bad zone.
But you do not understand that, yet… or maybe ever.
We could be looking at a production of 90 Day Fiancee here.

Yes, and how the Time Jannie looks rather happy and calm in the last frame. 🙂
Oh man, I hope they find a way to keep in touch. I love this interaction they’ve been having and I really want to see where it goes. Not to mention I think she would LOVE meeting Sandra and Woo. More Hitomi!! Shes’s so sweet!!
GASP!!!
I CALLED IT! I GOD DAMN CALLED IT!

The immigration officials are really efficient and intimidating around here. He has not even over-extended his stay and they are already deporting him.
*Twitches at that phrase. So that’s why this one was masked. *Throws a chip in the betting poll.
He arrived with a suitcase, right? (it was lost) What about the programming or business thing he was there for? How much trouble at work is he in? And which Gaia character is in the cloak? Only questions!
I wonder if the person taking him has one of those animated book things that they have in The Adjustment Bureau?
@ Hyoume:
Is this the first time we’ve seen Hitomi touch him? It’s pretty darn intimate.
CURSE YOU DELTA AIRLINES!!!
@ doclbn:
And yet, in the opposite situation, the woman is often comforteds with assurances that “He’ll notice you someday”, and “Well, if he can’t see how awesome you are, he doesn’t deserve you!”. Why is one sex allowed to be disappointed and hurt that their crush sees them only as a friend, but the other isn’t?
@ …:
I like to think it’s more the opposite.
Because of age old roles between genders in a species men typically are meant to be emotional pillars and unshakable foundations whereas women tend to be more capable of sensitivity and in general reinforce the will and strength of those around them.
Of course with sensitivity and investment comes the ever present risks of loss and uninterest. Likewise with being emotionally founded you can often lose sight or even become incapable of letting go/coping.
One counterbalances the other and that in turn pushes people to come closer together.
Man, this comment section is trash.
Can’t you guys just enjoy the storyline without overanalysing everything or make unnecessary, unfunny sex-related jokes?
(Also, I don’t think Richard is _that_ old, nor that Hitomi is _that_ young, I give the guys a 10yrs difference tops — and I don’t really understand why some of you would ever try _this_ hard to make it look bad. Just… stop, and let people enjoy talking-raccoons comics ffs.)
but… is his home even accepting returners at the moment? He’s in Asia and hasn’t even been wearing a mask! (OK, masks don’t protect the wearer, we know that)

I don’t think he’s double her age, even though, there is some difference. It would be slightly awkward when she actually ends up living with Richard and Sandra, because she probably would look slightly to young for Sandras mother, but that’s something people can manage. A friend of me married a 10 years older women and she had a daughter and they where in a similar situation. It’s not great but manageable.
He probably arranged that his daughter is taken care of. I have seen worse cases of mid-life crisis. If he didn’t then I agree, it would be pretty bad.
Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable delayal!

Welp. Kinda guessed it. Now to see if Hitomi will follow him or will they be online gaming friends.
Also if it’s case 2, will there be a funny plotline for Hitomi to come and visit? I wanna see her reaction to Cloud and his family.
uhhh…there IS such a thing as the internet, people…

Love ends when you let it end.

There does seem to be this attitude these days toward men who are unlucky in love, “Go away and die alone, there’s a good chap”.
@ doclbn: when a woman says to a man, “Let’s be friends”, it rarely means that she wants to be friends. It generally just means, well, see above.
@ Regis Earsquake:
I don’t mean to harp on the age thing, I just wanted to throw everything onto the pile, because Richard’s reaction, while I get it’s for the sake of a joke, felt very out of character given the context of her daughter being left without any parents, possibly during a pandemic too (I’m not sure if that’s still happening in the woo-verse, it was referenced before in this arc).
I also realised that have this arc actually been about Richard’s mid-life crisis and not just a cute ship (at least others find it cute) it would have been much better. Even as it is, looking at the whole thing through that lense makes it better in retrospect.
First time I’ve ever seen Concierge Services in a hooded cloak and bearing an hourglass.
The flight is delayed because they are waiting for Richard.
@ Breja:
Cat-girl maids half your age are actually pretty cool, take it from me.
Anyway, I do hope he doesn’t get home, and suddenly realize that he never got around to trading phone numbers/email addresses with Hitomi.
Hmm Four hours are not enough to catch a plane at Narita if you are IN Tokyo…
Brett P Bellmore wrote:
Even if he didn’t, in the age of social media and all, I don’t think it would be too hard for them to find each other. At least I assume so, I don’t actually use any myself.
Poor Richard. But at least it’s obvious Hitomi has feelings for him, though sadly I think this arc is coming to a close. I give it one or two more strips to give some closure. Here’s to hoping the SS Ricomi comes to port.

Probably Sandril. His actor isn’t needed on that set at the moment, so he’s more free to do cameos.
Time for a romantic gesture girl
“Come along!”
Apparently that phrase is so important that it’s crossing over into this universe as well.
THis development feels a lot like that in Video Girl AI
It’s Malva. That’s why Lili wouldn’t let her come. The dragon flew her straight to Japan.

The fourth wall is very thin, here…it’s possible she may climb out of the frame to get around the barrier…
@ Dracke:
@ Bahamuttone: True, but that’s more than plenty of time to catch a flight in Haneda. Neither airport has been mentioned that I can find in this arc, so I’m willing to bet HND over NRT.

Americans can stay in Japan without visa for up to 90 days. So I highly doubt he was even close to over-extending…
But seriosly… At this point Sandra must get a step mother or I might actually unsub on Patreon…
