Spoiler-free review of The Last of Us Part 2

I honestly didn’t expect these reactions after the game got a 95% on Metacritic. I guess that shows how much a 10/10 is worth nowadays.

Main problem of part two is that there was a first part. The game is great, despite some politically forced BS in script.
You also have to consider the context of the “10/10” ratings:
Reviewers were forbidden by contract to discuss *any* major plot points, and nothing beyond the first few hours of play. This has the effect of reducing the professional ratings to an evaluation of the technical merits of the game.
So, a fair reading of the 95% Metacritic rating is that TLOU pt II is a beautiful graphical experiene that has excellent gameplay and a solid 5-hour story (or whatever the figure actually was).
Personally, I think these reviewers should have prepared two versions: one to publish during embargo that conforms to the contract, and a replacement for after the embargo is cleared that includes all of the aspects the embargo blocked them from discussing. Much like how games are being released with MTX, only to have them added months after launch.
Dina leaves Ellie because Ellie went on a revenge mission.
Wait, there are people who still think metacritic scores mean anything? Did you really, seriously, honestly, not expect this sort of reaction? Because, despite doing almost no research into the game, I’ve been expecting exactly this reaction since around the leaks. Anyone remotely surprised by this should re-evaluate their model of reality.
Reminds me of my mother’s cat. Scratch between the ears and under the chin, simultaneously. His eyes would roll back. He was in cat heaven.
