I think somebody already made about how lava moat is almost impossible and will require a lot of energy…
Congratulations two on commentator of the last comic for forecasting Larissa’s appearance! 🙂
I never realized the Norths had such a big house. Richard is obviously doing well (and we know there is old money in the family). But we have seen at least parts of it before.

We haven’t seen Larisa in forever…
I love Larissa!
her having Wolframs syndrome is one of the most lowkey saddest things in these comics.
@ Trimutius:
Considering Yuna casually breaks the laws of thermodynamics on a regular basis and we’ve even seen Larisa break the laws of physics on a whim, I’d say a lava molar is perfectly reasonable.
@ Sawatt:
Good luck finding a dentist to work on it, though.
I’m not sure whether this is comical or ominous.
It’s both.
If this is what happens when Larisa hears the words “lava moat”, I’m afraid to find out what happens when she hears “flamethrower”.
I’m having problems when clicking on the link to the drawings. I get an error message about broken RSS feed, appears to be an invalid link.
Love seeing your work.
@ Zaphod Beeblebrox:
Really? Did you really have to say “That Word” out loud?? 😉
@ Trimutius:
Randall Munroe, creator of XKCD, has it covered in a chapter of his last book, “How To”. MinutePhysics even made a video about it when the book launched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8xfzeD0ZK4
That said, I think Richard is in deep trouble: he has awakened one of the worst forces of nature. Nobody gets between Larisa and fire – and lives.

He could have posted this URL https://throwflame.com
That was to be expected.
Did their attempts to avert the disaster just cause it?
“SUMMONED, I COME.”
@ Sawatt:
A lava molar, that would be a volcano right? 🙂
The incoming disaster is likely to be caused by Larissa building a lava moat and the prediction is going to be self-fulfilling.
@ Pere:
Most actual prophecies are.
Yuna and Larisa working together.
There’s NOTHING that can’t be done.
The only question is: What will be the powersource for the lavamoat?
@ Trimutius:
Who cares about the energy needed? The comic takes place in an American town/city. The permitting process will take MONTHS!
@ Sawatt: Lava Molar. It is Larisa’s version of a Sweet Tooth. 😉

Easy – suspend time around an exploding star in the act of becoming a black hole, harnessing the potential energy of a collapse that would never occur.

Minute Science with XKCD made a video about it:

No doubt Yuna could provide a compact and efficient power supply. Small black holes are great for that kind of thing, provided you don’t mind them getting a bit larger.
Couldn’t the moat itself be the cause of the predicted disaster? One of the problems with prescience is that you tend to cause the things you’re trying to prevent, and vice versa.
@ Trimutius:
oh, well… Not that hard for Larisa http://www.sandraandwoo.com/2015/02/26/0662-the-floor-is-lava/

I was actually going to say the same thing about Yuna. She could be a far greater disaster machine than Larisa since she doesn’t limit herself to anything as mundane as fire..
@ Nobody:
I was one of them… but seriously… that was blatantly obvious.
Talk about a self fulfilling prophecy! Larisa probably IS the event!

Sometimes I worry Landon will one day set himself on fire just to have Larisa look at him that way.
ANNNNND now we know the source of the imminent threat…the pyromaniac with delusions of grandeur, wants to help build defenses the pyro way
@ Aldin:
Even in Texas, the place zoning forgot?
@ Asrial: We can only hope Larisa and Yuna use their combined powers for good. Or at least benign.
Hahahahaha! Hahahaha! Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
*BREATHE!*

Liquid Fire, Good!
@ Aldin:
Over here we have a process called ‘Retrospective Planning Permission’, where people in a hurry just change their building first and ask for permission later, claiming they didn’t realise permission was needed. If they don’t get it they have to put everything back as it was, at their own expense. Doesn’t that happen over there too?
@ Marteri:
Looks like a standard 2400 sq ft house to me.
Aldin wrote:
I think you’ll find that when building the lava moat first and outright, there will be not “permitting process” ….
Some stuffy suits will probably try, but…. lava moat… solution to many problems….
Is that a spell? Hmm… anyways the pyromaniac has been summoned!
is the bad thing goimg to be the house burning down when trying to build a lava moat?
tofei wrote:
Well Fireball is a solution to every situation… therefore…
I cast FIREBALL!
@ Marteri:
i was gonna say has Richard redesigned the house since the computer game?
@ mittfh:
if you ask nicely Yuna could probably do that before breakfast
@ Agarax:
The powers source isn’t even the biggest problem. All the toxic funds coming from the lava are much harder to deal with. @ ParadoxSynthesis:

If anyone can do it, Yuna can

It was MinutePhysics on YouTube.

I don’t think Yuna is an evil scientist, as she’s merely wanting to have fun.
Larisa, otoh,
@ Trimutius:
Larisa made it possible, to play in their house the game “the floor is lava”, with actual lava. Also, they are acquaintances of Yuna Williams.
