Unfortunately, there will be only one new strip next week.
- TV: And after the weather, we’ll continue our coverage of the mostly peaceful riots in…
- Hitomi: American news even worse than Hitomi thought!
- Richard: Yeah, nobody watches that garbage anymore.
- Hitomi: It’s really disgusting. It’s as fake as… as…
- Hitomi: … noses of Korean women!
- Richard: OMG, Hitomi no!
- Richard: Say no to racism!
- Richard: Korean lives matter!
- Richard: South Korea = Best Korea

clearly (hopefully) i’m using this to playfully joke about serious issues. but i’ve travelled quite a bit and have close friends who are nationals of other countries. it blows my mind how the US and its citizenry assume how the US does things is the one true and best way. i love seeing how other countries do things. for example, i work in healthcare but i’m aware of social programs to keep high-risk people from getting looped repeatedly through the hospital system in canada that would be awesome here. but the whole infrastructure of taxes and the healthcare system make it such a struggle to create a comparable program here. because things are so intertwined, as you say, riot gear as freebies from the military, it is very tempting to want to scrap the whole thing and start over as huge overhauls need to be made in many of the US systems: healthcare, housing, social programs, education and public school, policing, pharma/insurance basically raping people with health issues. the founding fathers were on the right track, but they are 200+ years out of date. to tackle government corruption and everything else seems way more exhausting than wiping the slate clean and starting fresh. i’m not advocating for a rebellion or anything to actually do this, just saying mentally it’s more attractive to reset than to try and detangle 200 years of spiderwebs and barbed wire.
so yes, i agree with you that everything is far more complicated and the changes the US needs are quite difficult to detangle and set in motion.
Lol so many of these strips have aged so poorly and it’s honestly kind of hilarious
