[1236] Under A Killer Balloon: Into Darkness, Page 17

Flying with Air China is to be avoided.
- Sandy South: This image proves that Novil blatantly stole strip #1219, Cheater, from Heavenly Nostrils!
- Novil: And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids!
- Sheriff: Great work, young lady! Is it true that you constructed a sail boat to escape and sail to South Andaman Island?
- Sandy South: Yes, that’s true.
- Sandra: One time, we almost got rammed by an oil tanker. All in all, the voyage home wasn’t so bad, though. That is, until we got to Kuala Lumpur and… and…
- Sandra: … had to fly to Los Angeles with Air China!
- Sheriff: No one should have to suffer like that!
The horror!
Mmmmh…
Scooby-Woo
Heavenly Nostrils? A Phoebe and Her Unicorn reference?
more of sandra and cloud please!
also when are they going to make love?
@ Bob:
are they going to get married and have kids or what?
and yea more of sandy and cloud plzzzz!!!!;)
That’s gutsy, by the comic staff. Most comic, or anything, productions would refuse to admit that they “made a homage'” about anything.
Hey, at least we got some explanations. Also, why Novil was trying to bump off Sandy. “She saw too much.”
No one should ever have to fly in or out of LAX, ever!
Wow,that took a while to find. The Phoebe reference can be found here
Links! 😀

Well, it couldn’t have been China Eastern.
It could be worse – it could be Air Koryo…
Still better than American Airlines!
You have never flown with Ryan Air trust me there worse
This is one being referenced…

Not sure how it applies though.

I have flown with Ryan Air. And I’d rather walk than repeat the experience.
@ Harmony:
Steeeve provided the link to the original strip from Phoebe and Her Unicorn.
According to Wikipedia, that strip used to be called Heavenly Nostrils when first published, but the name has changed in 2015. So the 2017 strip was published under the PaHU name, not HN, but perhaps Sandra has been a long-time fan and just remembers the original name (I know I would in a similar situation).
@ Vincent Pelletier:
Mmm, can’t edit comments? Anyways, I just saw the link from zenmegafrog, which shows the strip was republished in 2017, but originally is from 2012, when the strip was called Heavenly Nostrils
It astounds me how some people expect their posts to be read when they obviously don’t bother to read anyone else’s.
So THAT’S why the comment section was disabled.
Also, I guess I just found a new thing to read.
and on the side of the sail boat: made in China !!
@ zenmegafrog: Thanks! I read HN/PaHU, but that reference had totally escaped me!
Freakin’ Air China.
I flew Air China once, it wasn’t that bad.
Mind, I had a sinus cyst pop on the flight, and was delirious by the next day due to a raging sinus infection, so I can’t say I recall it all that clearly. But they didn’t run out of tissues, which was pretty impressive given how many were needed before the flow stopped.

They are literal kids.

The strip was originally titled “Heavenly Nostrils”. I don’t understand why Dana Simpson changed it to the more mainstream-friendly and boring, “Phoebe and Her Unicorn”…
You can tell a joke that’s been told before, as long as you tell it better than the last person who told it.
Honestly I like Novil’s version better. The dialogue at the end it better.

@ The Mighty Gorga:
Gotta be mainstream-friendly to get published mainstreamly, so on goes the shield of boringness.
Hold on!
This all started with “a crime in Denmark”
Do Novil live in Denmark?
Oooh nice, I used to read Heavenly Nostrils a long time ago. I just lost track of it. I should go back.
@ JensRichard:
Nay, that’s a proverb citing Shakespeare’s Hamlet (Prince of Denmark…)
I retract my previous statement. Novil, you should rot in prison for that.
…
…
…
No one makes fun at Air China.
I remember I found Heavely Nostrils very early strips on TopWebcomics almost at the same time as I began following Sandra and Woo. Along with Commander Kitty, Plush and Blood, Evil Plan, Red’s Panet and Gil were my favourite back then. Too bad most of the other comics from back then either ended or were cancelled before finishing.
@ doclbn:
I think that there might be an obscure play about a Danish prince who tries to investigate a murder of his father. It is called, wait a moment… Village? By a guy called… Lancequake?
@ timw4mail:
It used to be called Heavenly Nostrils. I think the name got changed when it got syndicated and started showing up in newspapers.
